When it comes to family sagas, Sanandaj Chaterjee gets a high mark for her stories. Two very different sisters, each eager to leave her current village to find a better life. One chooses financial security and the other chooses to follow her heart. Each sister discovers the man she marries is not whom she expected.

The author takes the sisters down roads of disappointment, heartbreak, jealously, and betrayal, leaving the reader eager to find out what will happen to them and if they will ever make amends. I love the way the author captures the relationship between two sisters. This book did not disappoint.

It is certainly not literature. Interesting storyline, it could have been pretty fabulous if it had been fleshed out with more fully developed narratives.

A book describing the life and relationship of two sisters from India in two different countries - India and Tanzania.
Mohini just wants to get out of the village she grew up in. She is driven to get away from poverty, have social and monetary independence. For that she is willing to sacrifice a lot, to some extend even the relationship with her sister. Aditi is very different. She just wants to be accepted and cherished.
The story of these two women , the way they tackle life's challenges is what makes this book so interesting.
A really well-written book, telling about the dynamics of these sisters, but also about the struggle to adapt to a new country, a new culture, thus engaging the reader even more to follow their path in life.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was a great introduction to the Indian culture. I loved how authentic the writer was with names of clothes and the cuisine had me googling what each of the things were which i enjoyed. The story was deep enough and kept me engaged through out and the twist I certainly didn't see coming. I love how it hinted from the beginning that something wasn't quite clear and that kept you on the edge of the seat. It's a brilliant story of how true love conquers all. Loved it!!
