No. Just no. 
My lungs burn from lack of oxygen. My cheeks heat and my stomach flutters with nervous butterflies as I squint, trying to confirm what my body seems to already know. What my body remembers.

A slow easy smile curls up the corners of his mouth, his pale green eyes turning from incredulous to astounded to possibly amused. We stare at each other for a moment, unable to drag our eyes away. He tilts his head to the side, his smile turning lopsided as some of his hair flops over his forehead. My heart. Holy crap, it's out of control. I forgot how gorgeous he is. How devastating that smile is. 
Visions of the last time I saw him flash unbidden into my brain. I can't stop them, and the faster the images come, the hotter my face and body grow. 
His face above mine. Our naked bodies pressed together, limbs intertwined. The sounds he made as he came inside of me. The way I stared into him as I came. Holy shit. I cannot believe this moment. And hell, there are so many more moments than our last. I want to revel in them. Sit in a bath with a glass of wine and relive each one, one at a time like I'm stealing back that what has been taken from me. 
Ever so slowly, he stalks across the room in my direction with a purpose I cannot ignore.

Aria gives Wes her all, even knowing he will be going away to College not having time for a relationship. She still holds out hope thinking just maybe something might change. "I am nothing. I am the empty man who ruins everything he touches. I'd only break her heart. Destroy her dreams. There is no perfect for us now. Only the hope of forever on the distant horizon." Years pass they move on with their lives, even having that dull ache in the center of their hearts. Knowing something is just not right in their lives and there's a huge missing link. You learn Aria & Wes's young story and at the same time you move into present time. A Slow Burn Second Chance Romance that leaves you wanting more of Aria & Wes. "Because distance and regrets are a thing of our past. And this is the start of our forever."

    I’m not a big fan of second chance romances, but this one was very well done. Aria and Wes were made for each other and seemed to embody the saying “right person, wrong time”. They fell in love when they were just kids, but the timing was never right. Wes struggled with his family secrets and needed to pursue his dreams of becoming a surgeon, and Aria needed to go out into the world and sell her art. When they finally have a chance at reconnecting, it doesn’t take long for old feelings to surface.

    I loved the way Wes pursued Aria. After everything they went through as teens, he definitely needed to be the one to fight for Aria this time. He saw his way in and he took it. Aria had a lot of doubt surrounding Wes. He’s left her not once, but twice, and while she always knew the score, she also always hoped he’d come back to her. I liked that she didn’t just allow Wes back in immediately, she made him prove his words and promises with actions.

    I liked the secondary plot with Aria’s best friend Josh. It gave Aria and Wes a common ground, helping Josh recover and trying to figure out who beat him up. Wes really stepped up for Aria when she needed him and it went a long way in mending some of Aria’s past hurts.

    There were a few things that bothered me. The first was Drew. I found myself really disliking him and I know he’s the MMC of the next book so I hope he’s able to redeem himself, but he was truly awful. He didn’t listen to anything Aria said and kept trying to force her back into a relationship he broke in the first place. The second was Brady and Cooper. I wish Aria and Wes had gotten a little more justice for the way they were both treated. It seemed like the only plot that was left open. But even with those two caveats, I really enjoyed this book.

    Although not required, I would read in order. They are stand alone books but the details flow and continue through each read.

    Aria is 6 months out from a relationship with Drew and now he decides he can’t be without her. But Aria does not feel the same way..she has moved on, so to speak. When her BFF Josh gets attacked, she rushes to the hospital. The last person she ever thought she would see again is Wes. Her brother’s best friend, her teenage crush, her first everything, and he is one of Josh’s Doctors…and the one she never stopped loving.

    Wes had a difficult childhood. Growing up he constantly was trying to make his dad proud. But nothing he did proved worthy. His dad wanted him to be a football player but Wes wanted to be a Doctor. The girl next door was everything. His best friend’s sister, a secret, too young, too perfect. He knew it wouldn’t work out then so had to let her go. But Wes never forgot Aria and all those feelings come flooding back a decade later when he walks into his patient’s room and there she sits.

    Such a good story. My heart hurts for Wes, both from his childhood and the retelling of how he got to be where he is. I don’t want to spoil anything but love the past and the present storyline. You can feel instantly the connection that Wes and Aria have. Love the familiarity. On to the next.

    I usually like this author's books, but this one did not hit the mark for me. First, I didn't really love Aria. She was stubborn and difficult. Wes explained everything, but it felt like Aria just didn't want to hear it. Yeah, he messed up, but to be fair, she told him she understood he had to do what he to do. So, he's not at complete fault.

    The other thing was it felt like too much past info that just didn't need to be included, IMO. Too much inner dialog and the POV's weren't even. Too much Aria. Not enough Wes. The spice was meh at best. Honestly, this was a definite miss for me...

There's tension here to get these two together but watching Wes pursue her was something wholly satisfying. There's also a wildly romantic bonus epilogue available for download with a surprising intensely satisfying wedding you'll have access to at the end of this ebook.

    I love their story and how far it goes back. There were some surprises in this one. They are definitely meant to be. I do wish we had the conversation between best friends though. I always love that part when a guy tells her best friend that he loves his sister. This doesn't bother me enough to not give it 5 stars though. It really deserves all the stars.
    Such a great story and a great series. The author knows how to keep you interested right to the very end.
