Vanishing Act - Northwest Cozy Mystery Series, Book Finale

When young college student Nicole vanishes without a trace, the police brush it off as another youngster taking a spontaneous break. But a renowned television news anchor senses there's more beneath the surface. Enter Jake and Al, the tireless private investigators, hired to unearth the truth behind the mystery.

As they delve deeper, the plot thickens. Nicole's roommates and boyfriend, who should have been frantic with worry, appear eerily unconcerned. The discovery of mysterious texts from an anonymous admirer further muddies the waters. Was Nicole's disappearance a result of a secret rendezvous? Or is something more sinister at play?

As Jake and Al traverse this intricate maze, they grapple with the weight of consecutive challenging cases that have taken a toll on their stamina. It's undeniable; they're not as young as they once were, and the demands of the profession are catching up. Perhaps, after this case, a much-needed change is in order.

To recoup and reflect on their futures, the duo, accompanied by their cherished families – Cassie, DeeDee, and the adorable Gemma – embark on a rejuvenating Hawaiian getaway. But the tropical paradise isn't just sun and sand; it holds promises of a bright future. As DeeDee discovers, her culinary prowess could propel her into fame, catching the attention of a celebrated model and an influential cookbook editor.

In this exhilarating conclusion to the Northwest Cozy Mystery Series, delve deep into a mystery that will keep you guessing, while exploring the profound journey of characters you've grown to love. What lies ahead for Jake, Al, and their families? Dive into the final chapters to find out.

I hate to see the series end but all good things will finally come to a close. A remarkable story with a great ending and to see Gemma all grown up. Perfect ending to a great story.

The ending will make you smile - I loved Al's take on it!!
I can't believe this is the last in this series. It is definitely one of my favorites. I will so miss Al, the ex mobster who left the mob and turned his life around--oh he still had his Brooklyn accent and occasionally took short cuts which possibly maybe not all that legal. Jake and Al solved every case they took on--This last case was a doozy and they weren't really sure if they could solve it. Meanwhile DeeDee finally finished her cookbook but is a nervous wreck about it. How will that all turn out? The ending will make you smile when you find out what Al and Cassie's daughter became and what she graduated as--I loved Al's take on it!! I am hoping that just maybe the people in the series show up in other series--if not I sure will miss them!!

I have read this series, along with all of Dianne Harman's books. Some I like better than others, but one thing they all have in common is Dianne's ability to bring you into the characters lives. You feel like they are your friends, your family. First there was Dee Dee and Tink, then Cassie, Jake and Al. Then Gemma and all who came in between. I'll miss them but maybe sometime in the future they will want to share some more of themselves with us. Thank you for sharing there lives with us, and letting us know Gamma grew up. Wish I could know more about the years in between, but as and ending to a series it sweet. If you haven't had the opportunity to read A Northwest Cozy Mystery series, you should. The best thing about books is that there is no expiration date, but they do become harder to find.

I have read the majority of the books written by Mrs. Harman across her many different series, but this one is my favorite. DeeDee, Jake, Al and Cassie are like old friends. I have read every book, some more than once. But all good things must come to an end. This was a bittersweet novel, well written as always, held my interest until the end. A satisfying ending, wrapped up in a neat package with a pretty bow. It was wonderful to know life continued on for these characters with good friends, family and little Gemma at the end had me in happy tears. Kudos to the author. Bravo! 🎉🎉👏👏
