CG Hatton is the author of the fast-paced military science fiction books set in the high-tech Thieves’ Guild universe of galactic war, knife-edge intrigue, alien invasion, thieves, assassins, bounty hunters and pirates.

She has a PhD in geology and a background in journalism. She loves meringue and football (supports Tottenham Hotspur), drinks spiced rum and listens to Linkin Park, has climbed active volcanoes, walked on the Great Wall of China, and been mugged in Brazil. She is married with two young daughters and is currently working on the next book in her Thieves' Guild series.

She also edits and writes in the Harvey Duckman Presents... series of scifi, fantasy, steampunk and horror short story anthologies.

    I always find it difficult to write a review without giving anything away, no spoilers but i'll do my best.
    OK here goes! I think you will agree that any story where everything goes according to plan would be a pretty boring story and this book is certainly not that. I dont think im giving anything away by saying the main focus of Darkest Fears is LC of the Thieves Guild and true to thier moto no one messes with him not even huge hoards of hard to kill aliens hell bent on conquering everything in thier path.
    From the whirlwind of battles across the galaxy, the threads linking the entire series so far that I think J K Rowling would be in awe of and to the twists that you just do not see coming I am left feeling exhausted and glad but devastated to reach the end of the book yet still wanting more, much more.
    Darkest Fears is nothing less than a masterpiece and a fantastic contiuation of the Thieves Guild series, I look forward to the next installment until then I find myself compelled to read the entire series to date again.

    I’m an avid sci-fi reader and really enjoyed this series. It’s an easy read (in a good way). The characters and plot easily pull you in, and there is enough mystery and underlying darkness woven throughout that ads weight and intrigue.

    I’ve also read the offshoot books, which are great and would definitely recommend.

    The only thing I didn’t like, and I actually found detracted from the story (and I hope the author reads these reviews) was how the protagonists are ALWAYS at the end of their tether e.g. they have a pounding headache, or some excruciating injury, where they ‘can’t go on’ (but always do) IN ALMOST EVERY CHAPTER – we get it! That repetitive aspect gets tiring and frankly boring to read so I started skimming through those parts the further the series progressed.

    Apart from that gripe, I look forward to the next one and would definitely buy more from this author.
