The Girl in the Painting Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 2,867 ratings

What would you do if you went to an art exhibition for a famous artist you’ve never met before and a painting looked exactly like you?

Ansel Bray might be an artist known around the world for his tragic hiatus from the canvas, but to me, he’s just a handsome, broody stranger that I don’t know at all.
Long dark hair, blue eyes, and dimpled cheeks. I’ve never met her, but her image is imprinted in my mind. An angel muse who inspires me to paint again.

There is something about him. Something that spurs a need to be as close to him as possible. A need to find out why.
There is something about her. Something that draws me in. Something that urges me to find out what her presence means.

Why does the girl in his painting look so much like me?
Who is this girl, and why can I see her so vividly?

I shouldn’t fall in love with him.
I shouldn’t fall in love at all.

But fate has other plans.
What a beautiful mess we’ve made.

Even though I knew what was going to happen in this story, it’s easy to figure out, it didn’t diminish the beauty of Indy and Ansel’s romance. It’s all in the eyes.

There is a lot of angst and some cheating in this book, be warned, but there is a lot of love and a very sweet ending. A tortured artist and a grieving musician make for a great story.

First and foremost i must give credit to a writing duo who construct a piece that doesn’t seem to fight itself with two minds.
Also, as a librarian, I must say this would make an excellent book group read (wish i got to choose!)
There is alot happening and emotions are VERY INTENSE. Just when i thought”oh. Its gonna be like the movie “Return to Me”. No. Much more intense.
    Or
Thinking it is like Amelie. No.
Though BOTH movies are good ideas as parts are there.

Just when I thought the book had to finish because they know they are soul-linked…and then we get WHAT APPEARS as a misunderstanding, you get sucker-punched and realize there was way more.
You see, at some points I could jot understand WHY Indy would be so physically sick with every painting. I know that sounds odd, but once she realized Ansel and her were “inevitable” after their first night together, I was still lost a bit.
Maybe a hint as to the whole pick on
Indy’s side as THAT POINT felt rushed.

    Spoiler time
I feel Indy needed to speak with Mrs. Lane maybe WITH Ansel. Then it would be more than Ansel suddenly saying “it wasn’t tour fault” and Indy felt “relief after four years”.
Also, I did feel sticking her old ring in a box seemed harsh. I get the need to keep it all in one place, but the way it felt was Ouch.

I would have liked to see Matt get his comeuppance. Also, more about WHAT in Ansel’s eyes made Lilly hand him her phone.
Ansel notes that something was seen. But we never hear what.
Finally, deep down, I do feel the issue of “who cant look who in the eyes” was the wrong way to go. I mean they keep saying they know each other’s heart. I get that some other issue had to be forced to make Indy tell Ansel about her guilt feelings. But it didn’t set right to me.

Lastly, I kept reading these two authors are wonderfully funny in their work. I will say this wasn’t. Alot of emotions with some lighthearted family time. But all in all, more intense.
Maybe other works are funny. I don’t know that as yet.

    All in all. Good read.

I do even know where to begin. This story was IT for me. Ansel, his brother Bram, Indy and her sister Lily. The connection between Indy and Ansel was woven together like a beautiful tapestry. The emotions were so powerful. I felt like I was part of the story. I’ve enjoyed all of Max Monroe’s books, but this one will stick with me for a long time.

I simply don't have words to express what I felt during reading this book. Even if I knew early what the mistery is, I still read it ... no, not read it inhaled it. I sleep poorly so I need to do smth in the night when everybody sleeps. Or when I am with my mother at the hospital, or when I am in the car to job or to the hospital. And MaxMonroes' books are the best companion. This book is so ... soft, smooth, like a balm. I was with them for their journey.

I adore Max Monroe's romcoms- I mean they brought us Thatch and Whorgie for Pete's sake, how could I not? But honestly, I really love the books where they've branched out from the laughs and given us something a little deeper, a little more serious, like the Stone Cold Fox trilogy, and now The Girl in the Painting. I think this book just might be my new favorite of theirs. I know Ansel is my new favorite MM bbf, sorry Thatch!

The Girl in the Painting was such an enchanting story. It was one that I wanted to zip through- I wanted, needed, to know everything about these characters, and I wanted to know it now! But I made myself read it slowly so I could savor every bit of Ansel and Indy. Because these are two utterly endearing characters and their story really captured my heart.

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, as this is one of those books that's best read without knowing a lot about it. It's such a compelling story, with some fun light-hearted moments mixed in to keep the feels from being overwhelming. Because you're definitely going to feel, and hopefully you'll experience that same pull towards Ansel and Indy that they feel towards each other. This book, their story, is one that just completely charmed me.

Not a bad read. No, it’s not an entirely original story, but there were twists I didn’t see coming (no pun intended), even if I should have. I appreciated that because that never happens for me. I usually don’t like the FMC, and this one was no different. She was too much drama for me, and some of her moments were just too sappy. I didn’t think there was a need for Matt’s character at all. I thought the matter of Adam came into the storyline far too late. The authors could have sprinkled his story throughout the book. He would’ve made a better, or at least different obstacle to Ansel and Indy’s relationship, and that would’ve removed the cheating issue that bothers readers. After all that, though, there were some sweet, unique moments as Ansel and Indy’s relationship unfolded that were highlights for me, and those moments are what I’ll remember about this book.

This book was such a fantastic read.
The Girl in the Painting has a depth to the characters not normally found in a single book, told from the point of view of both main characters you get more insight into their thoughts and feelings. The chemistry between the two is obvious from their first meeting and the obstacles faced are realistic as are the reactions to events.

Max Monroe, you ladies have had me in fits of laughter and now hunting for the tissues!
Ansel Bray goes from tragically blind broody artist to inspires broody artist, but his sudden inspiration, ‘the girl in the painting’ suddenly appears in his life, for real. What is the strange attraction Ansel feels for Indy, the girl? His new muse.
This story is a roller coaster of emotions, of two people searching for answers. It will draw you in even when the pieces start coming together.
