That Swoony Feeling (Getting Lucky Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 11,585 ratings

USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn brings more humor and heart with the fourth novel of her Getting Lucky series: a story about breaking curses and finally finding that swoony feeling.

I'm single . . . so single it's painful.Yup, ladies, Brig Knightly--that's me--is still a lonely bachelor, stumbling through the streets of Port Snow, looking for the girl he's supposed to end up with.

That is until my brother, Rogan, presents me with the opportunity of a lifetime. The Summer of Love, a secret pen pal program in Port Snow is looking for applicants and I'm the perfect fit.

I couldn't sign up fast enough. I found myself quickly falling in love with a pair of red lips at the bottom of a letter. Just like in the movies . . .

Life could not have been better, that was until I started hanging out with Ruth Barber. Starting a new business right next to my shop, I found myself gravitating toward her. Her smile, her humor . . . her tea sandwiches.

My attraction for Ruth came in full force, leaving me dazed, confused, and *ahem* excited.

As new feelings for two women come to a screeching halt, I have to figure out who to choose. But when I discover my pen pal is Ruth, it might be too late.

All I want in life is to experience that swoony feeling . . . but I think I might have just missed my chance.

Heartwarming and absolutely hilarious read!!
5 out of 5 stars
Heartwarming and absolutely hilarious read!!
All Brig Knightly has ever wanted is to be romanced a little and to find his one true love. But as the last single Knightly brother standing, his prospects are starting to look pretty grim... and he 100% places that blame on the dreaded curse he caught in New Orleans... Ruth Barber has been harboring an all-consuming crush on Brig for an embarrassingly long time. Content with keeping her distance and admiring him from afar, it's too bad for Ruth that her best friend has some different plans in mind... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That Swoony Feeling was a heartwarming and absolutely hilarious read! Brig and Ruth's friends-to-lovers relationship was the exact kind of romance this summer needed! While Brig has been searching for love, the entire town of Port Snow is exasperated with his cluelessness when it comes to who they think is the perfect girl for him. Ruth is sweet, funny and incredibly lovable... if only Brig would finally notice who's been crushing on him right before his eyes... Brig was the most gosh darn adorable hero I think I have ever experienced in a romance novel. With his love of love and his utmost desire to be romanced, his sweet and mischievous personality was a constant entertainment. And although he was completely clueless when it came to his feelings for Ruth, his innocence in his ignorance was hard to resist. Ruth was a delightful and sassy woman who turned into a shy wallflower in the presence of Brig. As an already successful business woman, she dreams of a new venture that would honor her deceased parents, but she isn't quite ready to take the plunge. Until her pushy, yet lovable friends find her the perfect location... with an irresistible neighbor who is already dead set on helping her out, included. I adored everything about this book! Brig was such an amazing character and Ruth was extremely lovely, and had a great, multi-layered personality. The plot was engaging and fun, and the "pen pal summer of love" added in provided a nice and unpredictable twist. And towards the end, this hilarious and light read also provided a few heartbreaking moments as well.  That Swoony Feeling was the perfect end to the unforgettable Getting Lucky series. I am so sad to see the last of the Knightly family and the town of Port Snow, Maine. Each and every story was an entertaining and sexy escape unto itself, and the characters will forever bring a smile to my face. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Without a doubt, this is my favorite in the series – even if I wanted to smack Brig upside the head repeatedly. Quinn makes his personality shine in this funny, swoony romance; it’s lighter than the other books in the series because that’s just the kind of guy Brig is. He’s been my favorite Knightly brother since the first book, so I am very happy to report that I had a smile on my face the whole way through. The slow build from acquaintances to friends to lovers made for a light read with hints of tension, and I loved that the characters are just so LOVABLE. This book will make you laugh, smile, roll your eyes at our clueless hero, and ultimately get that swoony feeling.

The story follows Brig, the youngest Knightly brother. He loves love and just wants a real relationship, but doesn’t seem to be having any luck in the process. When Brig finds out about a local pen pal program, he thinks this may be his real shot at love. But just as he starts exchanging letters with his mystery girl, Brig starts to spend more time with the woman who has served him coffee for years. Unbeknownst to Brig, Ruth has had a crush on him for a long, long time. Now that’s she’s finally trying to overcome her shyness around him and let her true personality come through, Brig notices Ruth in a whole new way. Unfortunately, it may be too little too late, as Ruth finally starts to get frustrated with Brig’s complete and utter cluelessness about her feelings.

Brig is such a great guy, so bubbly and kind and caring. I loved seeing him finally get his happily ever after, and I appreciated how light the book is. After a few heavy stories in a row, it was nice to just have a playful, adorable kind of read from this series. The build in intimacy is fantastic, with a slow burn that works for the story. And when we finally get the steamy scenes, you can feel the connection there. I will say that I think the pen pal storyline went on too long – Brig essentially has feelings for “two” women until very late in the story, and I wished it had played out differently, but that’s really my only complaint. I’ve loved getting to know this group of brothers and hope it’s not the last we see of them (Oliver needs love too). This series has been incredibly heartwarming with characters who are such a breath of fresh air, and I’m glad that Brig’s love story was worth the wait. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC via Candi Kane PR (then purchased it for my collection), and am voluntarily leaving a review of this small town romance.

That Swoony Feeling is the final book in the Getting Lucky Series. I am sad to say goodbye to Port Snow and the Knightley family. This has been a series that has completely found a permanent place in my heart.

Brig was a completely adorkable guy who was looking for love. Blinded by the same curse that struck all the Knightley boys in some manner, he is the one who truly believes the curse. However, Brig is looking so hard for it that he misses what was right in front of his eyes. Yet, despite this curse, Brig was such a good guy…. successful, funny, outlandish, helpful, caring & had such a good heart. He is my favorite Knightley brother.

Ruth was every girl who had been overlooked by the man she wanted forever. Haven’t we all become such a different person when in front of the guy we want like Ruth did? She was such a sarcastic & witty person, but she made herself invisible to Brig by becoming this shy quiet woman around him. However, when she finally opened up, OMG I just loved her. Such a transformation she had in this story but who she was from the beginning was amazing…hardworking, smart, honest, sexy.

This is a friends to lovers’ story with some twists which were manipulated by the wonderful people of Port Snow. This book will make you smile, laugh, sigh and maybe even have a tear or two in your eyes. It is about friendship, family, & love. It is written so well and will entertain you the entire time. You will feel transported to Port Snow & probably will want to move there when you finish this book.

I absolutely loved this book so much…it is definitely my favorite in the series because honestly, this is one of those books that makes you so incredibly giddy reading it. I was smiling/laughing/crying at the end because Brig & Ruth were everything and that HEA hit me right in the heart. This is beyond 5+ stars for That Swoony Feeling.

I LOVED this book from the moment I started reading until the very end. That Swoony Feeling invokes ALL the swoons for sure. It was everything I wanted and hoped it would be for the legend that is Brig. It made me laugh, smile, roll my eyes at our adorably clueless hero, and ultimately get that ‘swoony feeling’. Meghan Quinn saved the best Knightly brother for last for sure.

Brig Knightly’s story is the one I have been waiting for since the very beginning of this series. His personality is a storyline of it's very own, and I just knew Meghan would ensure sure his story would be as unique as him, and that is exactly what she did! She delivered big style. Brig has such an infectious, charismatic personality, a witty sense of humor and a unique love of life and family that just grabbed hold of me. He’s just so damn goofy, silly and loveable! And Ruth was the perfect girl for him...a true gem! I loved the friendship that they formed, and the relationship that gradually blossomed. Every slow step they took getting to know each other added something special to their fun, quirky and heartwarming story and I absolutely adored every single second of it. It has to be said, not only is Meghan Quinn the queen of romcom but she’s also the queen of the grovel and the epic romantic grand gestures. The banter, quick wit, and that great quintessential Meghan Quinn humor is sprinkled throughout this book and I couldn’t put it down.

Meghan Quinn made this truly a special ending to a fantastic series. I could not have wished for more and it couldn't have been better wrapped up in a better way. This series is so incredibly heartwarming with characters who are such a breath of fresh air, and I'm so happy that Brig's love story was worth the wait. I’m so sad to say goodbye to Port Snow and the Knightly brothers. I'm going to miss this family and town so much! (sobs)

and Ruth’s story. I could see so much of me in Ruth, and really felt sometimes like slapping Brig and talk some sense into him! But this books had me from laughter to tears to laughter again. Amazing. This was my first series from Meghan, I’m really looking forward to read more from her.

Ruth and Brig have known each other since childhood but Brig now only sees Ruth as the barista who gives him the best coffee each morning. Ruth has been crushing on Brig since childhood but has never made a move. She's been reluctant to put herself out there since her parents both died.
When Brig finds out the town is doing a summer of love secret pen pal, he jumps at the chance to sign up as he's been looking for love for so long. Ruth gets signed up by her best friend, Rylee. Unbeknownst to them both, their own pal is the other. Growing closer via the letters, they also start getting closer in person.
Will their burgeoning friendship turn into something more? What happens when they realise the other is their own pal?
This was a sweet read, a friend's to lovers theme that was both hilarious and gentle. Going from shy to outgoing and pulling me in the more I read!
