Friends Don't Kiss: A Sexy Friends-to-Lovers Romance (Doubtless Bay Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 433 ratings

Chocolate melts exactly at body temperature, as Maisey has discovered…

Maisey has talked her brother’s best mate and local GP, Joss, into having his photo taken eating chocolate truffles for her new advertising campaign. Joss is wary. Being so close to Maisey means he’s going to struggle with his attraction to her, and her brother will kill him if he so much as kisses her. But sexy Maisey is very persuasive.

When the chocolate melts on Joss’s warm body, it seems only polite for Maisey to offer to lick it off… And that’s where the problems start.

From the Inside Flap

"Fancy taking me to heaven and back again?" Maisey asked. She held her breath while she waited for Joss to react. He was staring at her, but she couldn't tell what he was thinking.

If he looked alarmed, or if he said no, she'd laugh and say she was joking, and hopefully make a quick getaway. She shouldn't have mentioned it. Last time, she'd said no strings and no commitment, and presumably he'd agreed to sleep with her because of that caveat. She hadn't meant to mention it again--she truly had thought it would be a one-off.

But he looked so gorgeous sitting there in the sun, a little sleepy, long legs stretched out in front of him as he lounged back in his chair. She'd started thinking how nice it would be to lean across and kiss him. His lips would be warm from the sun, and he'd slip his hand behind her head to hold her there while his tongue explored her mouth. That had caused something to stir inside her, and the invitation had tumbled from her lips.

He was still staring at her, and she had the feeling he was weighing up the decision in his head. She understood. If they had sex again, it was more than a one-night stand. It wasn't a relationship by any means, but whereas they could put what had happened before down to post-party buzz, this time it would be pre-meditated, considered, and thought through.

Her heart raced, and she swallowed down the nervous lump in her throat. He was going to say no. Shit. She opened her mouth to say she'd only been joking.

And then his lips curved up.

She stopped, mouth still open, and watched as his smile spread and became sexy and playful, his eyes dancing.

"Hell, yeah," he said.

Relief and joy flooded her, and she gave a thankful laugh that she hadn't embarrassed herself.

Joss grinned, and then to her surprise, he pulled the arm of her chair toward him. As she reached his side, he leaned across and lifted her onto his lap as easily as if she were a child.

"Ooh," she said, slightly out of breath.

"Maisey the Minx." He slid his arms around her.

She put her arms around his neck and leaned down until her lips brushed his. "You like making up nicknames for me, don't you?"

"I do," he murmured. He leaned his head on the back of the chair and let her trail her lips from the corner of his mouth over his cheek to his ear. He closed his eyes. "Maisey Mischief."

She chuckled and kissed around his ear, took the lobe in her mouth, and sucked it.

He shivered. "Mouthwatering Maisey."

"I like that one." She kissed down his jaw and back to his mouth, then ran her tongue lightly across his bottom lip.

He gave a deep, approving growl. "You realize you're the most tempting treat in your shop?"

She rubbed her nose against his. "That's a nice thing to say."

"I mean it." As she had hoped he would, he moved a hand to hold the back of her head and keep her in place. "You drive me crazy, Maisey," he whispered, and then he pulled her head down to his and kissed her.

The warm sun beat down on them, and his body felt hot against hers through his shirt. When she brought up a hand to touch his cheek, his skin was slightly damp, his hair curling around his ears and the back of his neck. The honey-like smell of the manuka trees rose to wrap around them, and all she could hear was the lap of the waves on the beach far below and the call of the tuis above them.

Joss tasted warm and sweet as the early autumn day, and everything felt lazy and relaxed and unhurried, as if they had weeks to explore each other, as if the world had stopped turning and the sun was going to stay high and hot and humid forever. She tipped her head to change the angle of the kiss, and he murmured his approval and slid his tongue against hers, tasting her, sending all the hairs rising on her arms and the back of her neck.

She could have sat there for hours just kissing him, but his hands dropped to her hips and he shifted beneath her. Before she could prepare herself, he rose to his feet, wrapping her legs around his waist. She gasped and held him tightly, and he laughed and turned to walk through the large glass doors into the house.

This story was as good as the first. It is the story of Dr. Joss and Maisey. Set in New Zealand it is the story of a group of friends that grew up in a small town. The guys were older and all ran around together, the girls younger, sort of hung on their every word but were off limits to the others because they were a best friend's sister.

Maisey is the free spirit, fun, happy one. She and her 3 friends have opened a chocolate store on the beach. Joss is a local doctor. He is about 4 years older than the rest and he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. His dad has dementia, his mother M.S., his sister, recently divorced, has 4 young children and is trying to make it on her own. He is the one they all lean on. Maisey is his only ray of sunshine but he feels he has no space in his life to have a personal life.

Maisey thinks otherwise!! The story heats up. There are some sexy scenes so be prepared for that. I really enjoyed this second look into the lives of these friends and have pre-ordered #3. Good read, I highly recommend it. you won't be sorry.

One thought. It seems to me that Kole had a double standard where his sister was concerned. Didn't he date his friend, Fox's sister in book 1? How like a guy to forget who he took to bed and who she was kin to!!! Human nature I guess. Still a great read and I enjoyed i8t.

"Treat Her Right" is about working through life's problems, and a bit of serendipity and taking chances when the time calls for such.

Maisey Graham needed to prove she's not as ditzy as her reputation, and when she saw her brother's best friend, the local doctor Joss Heaven working out at a gym, she knew exactly what to do... do a photo shoot of sexy guys eating chocolate truffles to promote her confectionery shop. Joss is having a bit of family problem in addition to his job stress. His mom is already in a wheelchair, and his dad is getting dementia. And Maisey's brother had warned him off Maisey before. But when chocolate melts on his hard chest, Maisey could not resist a taste... and that's trouble indeed.

The stories are not too long, at 200 pages, and there is certainly a lot of temptation in forms of hard bodies and soft sinful chocolate and truffles. Best enjoyed with nibbles of some good dark chocolates.

Maisey Graham, the youngest of her friends, and it shows. She lives one day at a time living life to the fullest. A little immature with sparkly everything, bright colors, and a sense of forever staying young. The only problem being is that everyone thinks she’s flighty and irresponsible. Wanting to prove that she is a grown woman she devises a new advertising campaign, and after seeing Joss, her older brothers best friend, the answer comes to her. The hot men in her life and photos of them eating the chocolate their business has created.
Joss Heaven, is the new Doctor in town and the last thing he needs is to be seen half naked with his jewels covered in chocolate, and if Maisey keeps offering him free sex, uncommitted sex, how is he ever going to stay true to his best friends wishes.
He was holding strong until she talks him into a private photo session where she writes with chocolate icing on his skin, takes a few photos, and then licks the chocolate from his skin. How can any man walk away from that offer? Joss is only human, so with this heat he will have to deal with Kole later.
Hot, chocolaty, and makes you go ummmmmmmmm. Another great read by Serenity Woods.

Massey lives life to the fullest because of her brothers death. Joss takes life very seriously because of events in his family's life. I love Maisey but had a hard time with Joss.

She gave the relationship her all even knowing it was temporary. I felt like Joss misjudged Maisey without having all the facts. I did end up liking them as a couple but felt like she forgave him too quickly. Didn't think Joss' apology was really him saying he was wrong.

With that being said this is my favorite I the Treats to tempt you series.

Ms. Woods has done it again! I discovered her books in 2017 and am loving them. I absolutely love the fact that she is not afraid to create characters who have actual problems. The characters remind you of friends that may hang out with you on the weekends. Then toss in the romance, and its unfolding tapestry, and you have a book you can’t put down. So, grab this book today, you will not be disappointed.

I really liked this book though it had me at odds several times in the book.
The characters were cute together, but not over the top all in love. Something to me felt like it was missing.
    The sex was hot.

    Happy Sexy Reading

I didn't think the author could top "Treat with Caution," but I liked this book just as much. I loved that Maisey likes to dress in bright colors and be happy since after her brother dies, she feels that life is short. And I loved Dr. Heaven--please leave me the name of any hospital that has doctors like him and I will gladly go. I liked that her other brother, Kole, looks out for her. The setting is a beautiful backdrop to this hot, sexy romance. I also love the friends and their close ties--can't wait to read the other books in the series.

Maisie is considered a bit too light with her glittery scarves and bright clothes that people dont take her seriously. Joss has just come back after travelling as a doctor overseas to work in the local practise. Maisie has always fancied him and she manages to get him alone and he cant help but give in. The story is easy to read but it could have done with a bit more depth. I thought the ending was just a bit too quick.
