Take Me Home Tonight (Rock Star Romance Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 304 ratings

Take Me Home Tonight is a slow burn, friends to lovers, rock star romance about a passionate woman who brings a wounded musician back to life. “The book is emotional and tremendously sexy— Kelly’s rendering of Calix’s grieving parents is particularly well-done, but it is Mimi’s strength that will linger long after the finish.” – Washington Post Best Romance Novel 2016

Calix Bourbon might seem like a free spirit, but that’s all a front. In reality, he’s just trying to keep his fractured family together while working as a session musician. When Blue Fire hires him to replace their keyboardist, Calix is determined to make the most of the opportunity—but he can’t help being distracted by the band’s sexy personal chef.

Mimi’s temporary gig is great, but she has her heart set on auditioning for a televised cooking show. There’s just one problem: she only has a week to acquire the skills necessary to survive the competition. Luckily, the band’s new keyboard player can teach her exactly what she needs, in the kitchen and in the bedroom...

Take Me Home Tonight by Erika Kelly is one emotional roller coaster ride between Calix and Meems ( short for Amelia). Calais has a lot of baggage to unpack surrounding his brother’s death and his mom’s fragile state of mind. With his family walking on eggshells, living under crushing guilt he can’t seems to move foreword and allow himself happiness! Meems jumps through hoops trying to get her restaurant owner father to hire her on his team. The passion, the falling in love, lying to oneself they can’t work making for one heck of a story! Once one begins reading, I didn’t want to stop even to cook. Outstanding writing ! Erika Kelly write more rockstar romances! I need them . On,y one more book of this series. I can’t wait to read it.

Mimi was so open and big hearted. Calix was very guarded with emotional walls due to the loss of his brother. Calix was multi faceted with his love of music and cooking. His family brought depth and the music group’s growth. Will they ever get together?

Wow! This series was just amazing! Big burly, tatted up rockstars with heart and souls - all of them! What great stories with their women and each other! I’m sure parts of this series were very real and the feelings that came with the fallout of many of the decisions the guys made didn’t seem too far fetched. There is a book for each rockstar except one but you get glimpses of his story too.

Book 1 is Slater’s story. Slater is the gorgeous and supremely talented lead singer with a deep soul and a big heart for his girl and his band. Emmie is the sister of his best friend and becomes their manager. Their love story is probably my favorite of the bunch because it is just so ridiculously over the top, yet believable too. In all the books, he never wavers and continues to treat Emmie like the queen that she is.

Book 2 is Derek’s story. Derek is Emmie’s brother and the band's bass player. He is their organizer and master musician. Derek and Slater are the true heart of this band and work hard to try and keep the band a family. Sometimes family has to make tough decisions and act responsibly, not necessarily like bad boy rockstars. Violet is brought in to help with this endeavor. They’re a great couple too and it is Violet’s home that becomes their refuge and happy place. Loved that!

Book 3 is Calix’s story. Calix is brought in to be a replacement keyboardist. He can play all instruments and can sing too. Finding out why he doesn’t want to join their band and his reluctance to seek fame makes for a great story. Loved him with Mimi! They are so good for each other and how she gets his family involved with the band and for their betterment is fantastic!

Book 4 is Cooper’s story. Cooper is the lead guitarist and with some of his behavior in the first couple books, I was worried he might not make it to get a story! I am so glad he got himself together! He decides to step up and help the band find an opening act and most of his story is him solo though the band members do show up at the end. His story takes place in his hometown where his demons and his high school crush are. What a great guy and a great story! Daisy and he help each other put their demons to rest! They grow so much together. Loved these two and their small town family!

Fantastic series - don’t miss this one!

I recieved this book as an arc as part of a book tour and I am leaving an honest review voluntarily.

This is Mimi's story. She was introduced in the last book by a friend of Violet's. Amelia or Mimi is only looking for her father's acceptance. When all else fails, she joking a cooking competition, hoping to win his approval.

Calix is a band member who happens to be in the right place at the right time but also her fantasy man. Calix's family is kinda a mess. They seem to be trying to move on but not quite whole after his brother's passing. Their house exists, but the home isn't full of life anymore, more like walking on eggshells.

Things get steamy, and a lot of unsolicited advice flies, but Calix seems to be living again. Mimi is blunt, honest, and has no bs outlook, and I love her personality. This seems a lot more like lust than love. But we shall see where this goes. They both have a lot to deal with and a lot of guilt to overcome.

This book does end happily with a fantastic story. I didn't get as emotional in this book, nor did I feel as much connection to the characters. I did love that the band and characters we know were in the book. This book had many overcoming obstacles for our couple, and maybe I didn't get the grief they had to overcome for Calix to love. I did, however, see the daughter who tried to get closer to her dad, but even that didn't inspire emotions. I did enjoy the story and the sweet names they came up with. I loved that Mimi fought for what she wanted, and her personality really shined through in her actions and words. Calix was a stoic character who had a lot to overcome, but I did love seeing the change in him as the story progressed, even though sometimes he took two steps back. I love the ending of this book, and I love the author's resolution to end this story.

My third book of the series and I think this is my favorite. Of course I thought that with book 2. With book one I didn't think there would be one better.
I am loving this whole series.
This book has me in tears. I felt for Mimi. My heart broke for her. She had a tough time and had to go through a lot. Not only with Calix, but with her Dad.
She fought hard for everything she got and she deserves all the amazing things that happen for her.
