"So... are you going out for a drink with Harry?" Colette asks.

"No!" I slap a folder onto the pile. "Absolutely not. Well, probably not. Maybe. Possibly. I'm thinking about it."

"I'm glad you've made your mind up."

I give her a pained look. "I can't. It's difficult to explain."

"Aw, come on, you can talk to me. I won't tell anyone."

I hesitate and square up the folders. I've lost touch with most of my girlfriends since leaving high school, and I've changed jobs a few times, so I haven't developed any lasting friendships. I've told Colette that Alex cheated on me, and that's why I broke up with him. I haven't told her the worst part--I haven't told anyone. But she's probably the closest I've got to a confidante, and it might be nice to talk.

"Don't laugh," I tell her, "but Alex is the only guy I've been with."

She stares at me. "Jesus. How old are you?"

"I'm twenty-six. But I was only sixteen when I met Alex. I've never dated anyone else. I thought he was The One, you know? I thought I was going to be with him for the rest of my life." I swallow hard. When will I stop feeling as if someone's stabbing me in the stomach whenever I think about him?

"In that case," Colette declares, "you definitely need Harrison Grant to screw you senseless."

"Colette!" Just the thought of it makes me feel faint. To let Harrison kiss me, touch me, takes off my clothes and see me naked... I blow out a long breath. "I couldn't! Men like Harrison go out with women who do stuff."

"Stuff?" she echoes, amused.

"You know, sexy stuff. Girls who are Experienced with a capital E, who've had multiple partners, who've learned how to please a guy a thousand different ways."

"It only takes one way," she says, "but I think I know what you mean."

"I'm just not that kind of girl."

"You don't like sex?"

"I love sex!" I say it a little too loud, and a couple of the marketing assistants look over with a grin. I lower my voice hastily. "It's like I've only ever had vanilla ice cream. Being with Harrison would be like standing in front of a hundred different flavors, with twenty different sauces and fifty toppings. How the hell would I know which ones he'd like?"

"He'd like all of them," she advises. "He's a guy."

"Colette..."

"Alex only liked vanilla?"

"Well, you know, maybe he'd occasionally like a bit of strawberry or Rocky Road. But when I suggested chocolate sauce, it freaked him out, and as for sprinkles..."

Colette tries not to laugh. "Sweetie, you're overthinking it. Normally, guys enjoy showing you what they like. They find it a turn on. It appeals to the Neanderthal inside them. You know, me man, you woman, me show you how to bend over..."

At the thought of bending over for Harrison, I feel dizzy and flop into the nearest chair.

"Jesus, you've gone as white as a sheet," Colette says with alarm. "Put your head between your knees."

I do so, taking deep breaths. "I'm sorry, I must sound like such an idiot."

"Of course not." She drops to her haunches beside me, and to my relief, her eyes are kind. "I think it's terribly romantic that you've only been with one guy--it just sucks that he turned out to be such a f***ing orangutan."

I laugh. "That's an insult to the great apes."

    She has been hired by his company to replace his secretary for a short period of time. He is known to be very difficult and usually makes the girls cry. She however, is not intimidated, she really is, she just doesn't let him know it. He is instantly intrigued. She plans to do more with her life than be a secretary. She wants to travel and see the world before she is too old and gets tied down to one spot. He is known to be very popular with the ladies but they all know the relationship is going nowhere. He just doesn't do relationships.

    It seems these two are a match made in heaven. Neither one wants more than a quick roll in the hay with no ties. Or so they think. This is a very sexy read as these two get to their HEA. I have really enjoyed this series so far and I definitely recommend if you like a short, sexy read that holds your attention.

    I am so in love with this new series. I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and couldn't put it down. When I received my own purchased copy I read it again!!! That's how good it is.

    Harry and Gaby have their future planned out and neither is looking for a relationship, but a one night stand couldn't hurt anything could it?

    When they discover how hot they are for each other, they decide to spend as much time together as possible until they each need to leave to start new ventures. They spend long nights talking and getting very little sleep. Harry is one of the most prolific lovers in a book I've encountered in a while. Ooo la la.

    They both have unresolved issues and trust for Gaby is a big one. Harry needs to go far to win her, thousands of miles to be exact.

    I loved the dialogue, the sex, and the issues of slipping into the sheets and into a heart. You must read this book and book one, although they stand alone. I'm anxiously awaiting g book three.

    The opinions I have expressed are entirely my own. Serenity Woods is one of my favorite authors.

    “Taking Over” is the second book in the new series by Serenity Woods. This series is a slight deviation from her other books in that it is a bit more racy and explicit. This is a novella so a nice easy weekend read for the warm sultry evenings of late spring/early summer. Or if you are in the southern hemisphere, the early cool evenings of late fall.

    Harry and Gaby have no plans for a one night stand which of course means it happens. Like any person, both have issues they need to deal with and it leads to some bumps. In other words, they are just like everyone else not some super perfect couple who never have issues.

    Each book in this series is a stand alone HEA. But like any book by Serenity Woods, it is worth reading each book in this new series.

    I did receive an advance reader copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair unbiased review. I was happy to do this since I love her writing.

    Taking Over is the 2nd book in the Like A Boss Series. Gaby and Harry are hot! 🔥They each have plans to travel the world- Gaby for pleasure, Harry for work. Having a fun, carefree, no-strings-attached sexual relationship is perfect for both of them. Yeah...right! As their feelings grow, they have to decide what they really want from each other and how they want to spend the rest of their lives.

    I loved Taking Over. It is well-written and held my attention from beginning to end. I cared about the characters and wanted them to have an HEA. Just like with the 1st book, Taking Charge, have a fan and a cold drink nearby when you read Taking Over. I'm looking forward to Caleb's story in Book 3, Taking Liberties.

    This is the second book in this series. I have read Serenity Woods books before. They have always had 🔥sex. But a good story with it. This book was sex until the last couple chapters. I don't think I will be buying the next two.
