The Royal Rogue: An Unexpected Pregnancy Romance (Nordic Royals Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 1,762 ratings

Now a Amazon Top 40 Bestseller!

"The Royal Rogue is undeniably a scorching-hot romance, but it's so much more -- an absolutely swoon-worthy love story that packs an emotional punch. Don't miss this delicious, satisfying royal romance." Frolic Media

Every family has a black sheep - even the royal ones.

In the royal family of Denmark, that black sheep is me. Princess Stella, the scandalous divorcee, the only single mom in the family. It doesn't bother me what people say. It's always been me and my daughter against the world.

Then that world of mine gets turned upside down.

Prince Orlando of Monaco, whom the media has dubbed "The Royal Rogue" for many good reasons, comes to stay. The lewd words that leave his lips are inappropriate in any company. He seems to enjoy getting under my skin- and pretty soon, under my royal bedclothes as well.

It's just a brief but torrid affair. Full of hot, dirty sex and nothing else.

Until that nothing else turns into something more, in the form of a big surprise.

I thought I got that wicked royal rogue out of my system but there's a link between us now that neither of us can ignore.

A baby.

It seems like I've been waiting forever to finally read Princess Stella's story (though it's really only been about a year), but "The Royal Rogue" by Karina Halle was worth the wait. This book gave me all the feels, and I loved it.

Ms. Halle is a master of creating realistic, well-developed, endearing characters and I always find it easy to empathize with whatever they're going through. I was intrigued by Stella when she was first introduced in her brother, King Aksel's, book ("The Nordic King"), and now that I have gotten to know her better through this story, I absolutely adore her. Stella had a tough go of it with her first husband, and it made me incredibly happy to see her finally get an HEA of her very own with Prince Orlando. As for Orlando, he is a totally swoon-worthy hero, much kinder and more loving than his bad boy reputation would suggest. He is a perfect match for Stella, and even though he makes some mistakes along the way, the important thing is that he gets it right in the end.

This book also featured some fantastic secondary characters, and yes, I'm including Snarf Snarf the pig here. I love Snarf Snarf so much and am thrilled that he made another appearance in this book! The scene when Orlando meets Snarf Snarf for the first time was laugh-out-loud funny and easily one of my favorite parts of the book. I also loved Stella's daughter, Anya. She's sweet, funny, and adds some much needed lightness and humor to the story. Orlando's sister Matilde is pretty awesome too. She gives Orlando the real talk that he needs, right when he needs it. (Maybe Matilde can get a book of her own at some point in the future? I wouldn't mind checking in on all of these characters one more time!)

Even Orlando's "girlfriend," Zoya, was an interesting, complex character that I ended up liking in the end. At first, I couldn't get over how selfish she seemed and how easily Orlando let her manipulate him, but it was a nuanced situation, and I could understand why he felt pulled so strongly in two different directions.

Finally, the love scenes in this book were H-O-T, but also surprisingly romantic. Orlando really seemed to care for Stella from the very beginning, even when they were supposed to be having a purely physical, short-term fling. Orlando looked out for Stella's needs and desires first, no matter what, which I really appreciated.

Overall, "The Royal Rogue" was another phenomenal read by Karina Halle, and I can't wait to get my hands on her next book!

Book Four in the Nordic Royal series by Karina Halle is out and I'm thoroughly excited! I've been interested in the heroine, Stella since she was first mentioned in a previous book (which you don't have to read because these are all standalones). I was hoping she'd get her own book and here it is!

Princess Stella is the sister of King Aksel and she is in charge of hosting the Royal family of Monaco. With that comes Prince Orlando, or as the press has dubbed him, The Royal Rogue. He is known for his playboy ways. And boy does he have a dirty mouth on him! During his visit, it seems like they are polar opposites and they are going to avoid one another. But that only heats up their interactions and they do the dirty anywhere and everywhere. And that doesn't even hit the first 20% of the book!

"I knew we had a lot in common...That both of us like to get dirty. The dirtier, the nastier, the harder, the better."

Ok. Let me stop right there. I'm all for the hot and heavy and sexy times, but having them hit it so early made for a relationship that I couldn't 100% get behind. And a surprise pregnancy? That's not normally my jam either. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy watching these two characters grow and realize their places within their lives, but it was one I wasn't fully invested in. A few decisions that Prince Orlando made had me wanting to hit him upside the head. And his little twist in the relationship? Did not enjoy that. But was it necessary? Kind of. We got to see Royalty and the way other countries may perceive all walks of life. And for that, I liked seeing ALL the characters interact.

When Karina Halle writes, she writes with a knowledge of the places the story takes place in and she writes the characters in such a beautiful manner that everything seems like it could really happen, even it it's truly unbelievable. She has characters that define beauty and originality. For that, I'm truly thankful for all her stories. But, and I say this with a heavy heart, Orlando and Stella weren't exactly my favorite of this series. Their relationship and love seemed too far fetched. But then again, when you know, you know. She still wrote a story that was enjoyable and I loved revisiting the other royals. The children especially. Stella's daughter was really a standout. I loved her little feisty self. :)

The Royal Rogue is a very sexy, fast paced Royal read. It takes place over the span of about a year so we obviously skip over months at a time to get to our HEA. It is low on angst, but with just enough of it, humorous and 100% hot! It's light and a nice addition to this series. If you want something to cleanse your palate in between books, this might be the one for you.

So, I don't usually seek out surprise pregnancy books. I've had two kids...the subject matter is in no way romantic to me. :) However, I love Karina Halle's books, and I enjoyed the book about Stella's brother Aksel. Plus, hearing Charlie Hunnam being the inspiration for Prince Orlando was very intriguing. I really enjoyed this book! Stella and Orlando were both great characters. All of their interactions were sexy and fun. After a casual hookup - SURPRISE - Stella gets pregnant. The usual plot lines occur - does she tell Orlando, does she have the baby (I really enjoyed that all characters were pro choice), does she raise the baby alone? Stella ultimately tells Orlando, and the plot unfolds from there. Now, Orlando's hesitance on the matter and worries about breaking promises (no spoilers here) was slightly annoying. That's just because, to me, the two promises are in no way comparable in the grand scheme of things. But all in all, this was a very enjoyable, fun book! If you love sexy love scenes, the push and pull of a somewhat "forbidden" relationship, or Karina Halle in general, I highly recommend!

Karina Halle is an amazing writer. All the books I've read of hers, they have been really amazing.
But this one... I couldn't get into it.
Especially *spoiler alert* when a fake OH is involved (yes even when it was fake). ANNNDD, I lost it when the hero made a really wrong choice (You can guess it) and then doesn't even have to grovel... he says 'I love you' and they are back together. The story felt too short to actually cover the entirety of this story. And anyway, I am not a fan of this trope. I am not a fan of the hero, the heroine is okay-ish but I loved reading about all the secondary characters (From A Nordic King - It is one of my most favourite books and I've read it three times😂)
Won't be re-reading this one though.
2.5 stars. This book and I were just not meant to be.

Having to be royal comes with a lot of duties and responsibilities, especially when your brother leaves you in charge. So meeting another royal family including a prince -well it's just another notch in the usual itinerary until it very much so isn't.

Them meeting was surprisingly connective.... But it's definitely not all hearts and rainbows.

He's got a relationship of convenience and she's got a daughter.... They've got a lot of things keeping them separated including their own countries. ....

I really liked reading about these two. Especially after reading Askells storey awhile ago.

Most times love is the answer even when everything else is questionable.
