The Road Trip: A laugh out loud romantic comedy set in the French sunshine (Maddy and Leanne Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Maddy and Leanne are in need of a miracle.
Maddy can’t bear to wash another pair of her husband’s Y-fronts and if he continues to drone on about golf she might just scream.
Leanne can’t stand living with her overbearing mother for a second longer and she’s one disapproving eye roll away from a nervous breakdown.
But their luck changes when they win the lottery.
Setting off from Dublin, Maddy and Leanne lease a red convertible, winding through Europe and heading for the sun-drenched French Riviera.
But the pair have their own reasons for their adventure. Maddy has never forgotten her summer romance of twenty years ago with a gorgeous Frenchman and Leanne plans to track down the father who abandoned her as a child.
Amongst glorious sunsets and buckets of bubbly, Leanne and Maddy are searching for answers after years of wondering ‘what if?’ But there might just be some surprises in store along the way…
A hilarious and heartwarming story about friendship, living life to the full and making the most of every moment. Fans of Fiona Gibson, Carole Matthews and Lucy Diamond will adore this uplifting, fun-filled read.

About the author

Susanne O’Leary is the bestselling author of more than 30 novels, mainly romantic fiction set in Ireland. Her many books set in County Kerry have been hugely popular with readers all over the world. She shares her time between Dublin and Kerry, where she and her husband have a little cottage near the beach. The wild, beautiful landscape, the small villages and the friendly people of that county have inspired her to write her feel-good stories. She's been inspired to write about people of all ages and walks of life, with lots of romance, and more than a dash of humour.
When she is not writing or reading by the fire, Susanne loves heading for the great outdoors, walking on the beaches or scaling the green hills of her favourite county.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2023The adventure was fast and emotional. All the different stages of the story. Finding lost loves, and losing some of the dreams of the past. Fast relationships, were a little to much. I liked the x discs options of the different countries. I will read the next book to see now it turns out.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2019I'm not into love stories so when I picked this book I didn't realize it was. I guess it was a good story but as far as laugh out loud funny I didn't come across any sections that made me laugh. Just someone living with a fantasy wanting it to come true and turned out to be a bad dream. She was happy when she married and like most marriages they all go through some tough times, some make it and some don't, and she was thinking if only she stay with her first love things would have been better but in reality that could have also turned sour after a few years. You can't live on fantasies, they will never work out the way you dreamed them too.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2022This was such a fun filled, refreshing novel. Its really nice to find these books to read. So light hearted and airy. I love how Maddy and Leanne are together as if they were sisters traveling and exploring. What a way to spend their windfall.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2018I started out liking this book. You've won the Lotto and decide to fill out your dreams. However, there is no ending. The Road Trip stops midway in their journey. It appears the reader will have to buy one or two or maybe even three more books to find the results of the road trip and all that has happened.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2021The author is right. Everyone feels the need to run away from their every day life for an adventure, and she gave us a great one to enjoy by reading it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2023A beautiful road trip through Europe and a whole of fun along the way, with a little bit of romance and fun mixed in along the way. Excited to start the rest of Maddy and Leann's journey with A Holiday to Remember!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2022This is a cute story and very easy read. I don't know why anyone would read this sort of thing and expect some deep storyline. It's meant to be light, funny and escapism at it's best.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2018An unexpected lottery win gives two women a chance to briefly escape their rather drab daily lives. But, are they on the road to happiness? Or will old secrets disrupt their little adventure? And, what about the kidnapped poodle? A happy mix of a road trip and self discovery bring adventure and change.

4.0 out of 5 stars Girls go wild on the continent.
When Irish school teachers Maddy and Leanne share a lottery win, it couldn't come at a better time in their lives, or time of year - the Summer holidays.
In her mid forties, Maddy has been questioning the point of her marriage now that the kids have left and her husband spends all of his time at golf.
In her early thirties and still living at home, Leanne feels like something is missing in her life.
So the two decide to hire a car and travel through parts of Europe. They think they have their trip well planned, but the journey brings new and unexpected experiences.
This is not a complete story, but merely part one.
Very easy reading. No violence or graphic sex. A great Summer read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Any road will take you there
This has been fun to read, the description of the book is how it is, along the way the two ladies meet people they like and some there not so sure about, there is nothing to dislike and lots of content, they have an adventure and the ending left me smiling.

3.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud??
Up to chapter six and still waiting to laugh out loud or even smirk for that matter. The characters are really rather annoying so far. Hoping it will improve, but doubt it
