Alisa:

My family has always treated me like a princess, and when my mother reveals her secret, I find out I really am one.

I'm the only child of the second in line to the throne, and after the news breaks, I'm thrust into a life I never imagined. Now I'm trying to fit in and not screw up the never-ending rules and protocol, but I can't forget Gage, the guy I left behind. When my father insists I marry an appropriate blueblood of his choosing, I run to the one person who can save me from myself.

Can I go against my family's wishes and choose love over duty?

Gage:

On the surface, I've always been a carefree playboy taking full advantage of the perks of being a college quarterback. When Alisa enters my life, everything changes, and nothing is as cut and dried as it once was. After recovering from an injury, I lose my starting spot to the new guy and my heart to Alisa.

Now I'm confronted with the grim possibility of a future without football or Alisa.

Can I trust Alisa enough to reveal the truth hiding under my spoiled, rich boy façade, or will I once again run away from the one woman who loves me for myself?

USA Today bestselling author Jami Davenport writes sexy contemporary, new adult, and sports romances, including Gone Missing, Seattle Sockeyes, The Scoring Series, and the Portland Icehawks.

Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her Army Ranger-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland drool monster, and two demanding tabby cats.

Jami worked in IT for years and is also a former high school business teacher but recently achieved a life-long dream of being a full-time author. A horse lover since birth, Jami showed dressage horses for over thirty years. Now she gardens and goes glamping, along with other travelling adventures. She's a lifetime Seahawks and Mariners fan, a proud season ticket holder for the Seattle Kraken, and still misses her SuperSonics. An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, a common setting in her books. In her opinion, it's the most beautiful place on earth.

What happens when your life is completely turned upside down you either accept it or you don’t. That’s what happens to Alisa & Gage.
Alisa is a young college student but when she finds out she truly is a Princess she accepts the challenge of living her life like royalty and moving away from the only life she knows, what she doesn’t expect is moving away from Gage would be harder than she thought.
Gage is a man that has always wanted to make it into the NFL and become the son that would be there to help his family have a easier life and to make them proud of the man he becomes. What he never expects is that Alisa wasn’t just a causal hook-up but someone he has grown to care for or even to love.
What happens is that they both need to either accept their fates or try and find a way to be together or just move on with their lives. You will watch this couple go through so many emotional ups and downs but what you hope is they can find a way to have a HEA that both truly deserve.

Took me a bit to get into to this one. Once it clicked with me though, I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the others in this series.

I am a big fan of sports romance and Jami Davenport. Combine the two and you get an incredible book that you can't put down and will read over and over. It's not a long story and before you know it you're like oh I just sat there and read the whole book.

Alisa and Gage have been friends for quite a while. They actually use to be friends with benefits. That is until Gage gets hurt playing football and pushes Alisa away. There is no denying chemistry even when it was in the past. Somethings never change. When they meet up years later they see that the chemistry is still there and as hot as ever.

They both come from two totally different world although at first they don't know just how different. They have to try and figure out if they can still live with the secrets they keep and differences they have. I loved getting to see characters from other Davenport books. It was like checking in on family that you don't get to see all the time. I received an ARC for my honest review.

The book felt like it was a take off on the current Royals. The characters didn’t ever really develop and the plot was pretty contrite. I love Jami’s books but, unfortunately, wouldn’t put this one very high on my list of recommendations.

There was more than a nod to the quintessential fairytale with this the latest in the Men of Tyee series. The author took every little girls dream and worked her magic and in this, it wasn’t a little girl wanting to marry her prince to be that princess that she has always dreamed of…nope, this was the young lady that never knew she was a real-life Princess and wasn’t sure what to do with the information once she did.
Alisa Brown was your average kid, right up until the moment her mother tells her exactly who her father is, and she suddenly discovers that she is far from average, nope she is proper royalty ...her father being second in line to the throne in the UK. As if that little bombshell isn’t enough to have her running for the hills, the mayhem that ensues once her story is revealed is nothing short of chaos. Her quiet ordinary life…decimated.
Gage totally won me over, he was the standard jock, the all-American hero, the star quarterback until a sporting injury left all the plans he had for his future in tatters. The best thing in his life other than his family is Alisa but when her royal heritage becomes common knowledge, he is faced with losing everything because how on earth does this average kid, with nothing special to offer keep the heart of a Princess? I say keep the heart because they genuinely have the most fabulous connection and I was rooting for them from very early on.
Gage didn’t want to be the reason that she felt as if she had to stay in the US, after all, he had nothing to give her as an incentive, he was from a hardworking ordinary family, his success in the NFL would have been key to better things for his whole family and losing that was gut-wrenching, he so wanted to give his folks something that would make their lives easier.
I loved his sense of honour and his determination to do the right thing, if anyone had what it would take to be with a Princess it could very well have been Gage …if only he could get his head around that when it came to Alisa the woman, not the Princess he was just what she needed and wanted, they just had to get over the hurdles that were put in their way.
    Could they?
Well, that is for you to find out.
A charming read that was just what I needed to while away a Sunday afternoon.

Another winner by Jami! This book is about Alisa and Gage...college "buddies" who both have secrets. When Gage had an injury he push everyone, including Alisa away which hurt her because she thought they were more. During the summer and her time away from school, she learns that the dad she knows is not really her dad but her biological dad is a Prince and she is a Princess! Over the summer she meets her new family and decides that she wants to take on her role in the royal family.

Gage's persona is not who he really is...he lets everyone think what they want to think and never corrects them...he comes from a poor farm family in Virginia. He is proud of his parents but tries to keep his roots a secret because of a past girlfriend. He keeps this from Alisa just as she keeps the princess secret.

There are a few interesting twists and turns in their relationship that add both humor and sadness to the story. You will not go wrong with this read!

I was offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.0 out of 5 stars not the best by this author.

Not the best by this author. The characters were fine, but the storyline felt a little half cooked. The unnecessary addition of making the heroine a princess it what pushed it over into mediocre and more so because it was an unnecessary addition. The storyline still could have worked even if she wasn’t a princess.

Funnily in one of the authors other books a character is a writer who is taken to task for not knowing the proper terminology. I feel like this is one of the books biggest issues. When you’re dealing with a subject like royalty and specifically the British royal family you’re dealing with something that many people have a strong and deep association with. Personally I found this so distracting. Particularly as the name of every royal didn’t fit with the British royal Tamils from any generation. Rather the characters names aligned with those European houses. It lets the world down.

Disappointing but the author has so many other great books so don’t let this one deter you.

I've read all of Jamis books and this one I struggled with. To honest the whole princess part was awful. It wasn't what I expected and I didn't like it at all. Ive loved all of her other books, which was why I bought this one. Very disappointed
