As a general rule I am not a fan of short stories however this story by Carly Phillips didn’t feel like a short story at all. This story was paced just right and exactly what I needed for Matt and Harper. This is a sexy and fun second chance romance!

This novella a steamy affair between Matt and Harper from the book Take Me Down. They have always had a thing for one another but Matt never did anything about it. The question is why he let it go for so long. When he kept seeing her go on dates and things he couldn’t take not having her. When the opportunity to have her fell into his lap the past didn’t matter. He went after her with all he had. Harper thought she should move on because Matt was going after her best friend but he only did that to forget about Harper. When he comes to her rescue all bets are off and he shows her what being with him will be like. In the background though someone is set on sabotaging her and Matt will do anything to figure out who the culprit is. All the while can they both get past the heartbreak of the past to have the future they both dream about. Only you will find out once you read their story.
Matt and Harper’s story is a quick read you would not want to put down. They are hot and heavy throughout. Their chemistry is off the charts and the love they have for one another is a build up of epic proportions. Their relationship is years in the making so you know they are not going to waste anytime doing just nothing. They are exploring and getting to know one another again. Matt is the sweet and sexy man you want in your life with a feisty woman like Harper beside him to make him fill whole. You will not want to miss them acting on their love and the drama that will unfold.

This is a short novella about Harper and Matt, who we met in Take Me Down.

I really wanted to love the story, but it fell a little flat for me. Harper has loved Matt all her life, but ever since she returned home from college he ignored her and never explained the change in attitude. As we know Matt even dated Harper’s best friend, Emily, so I wasn’t too happy with Matt to begin with.

We do get insight as to why Matt completely changed towards Harper, which was kinda sweet of Matt. However, my interest wanes when Matt and Harper hook up with no explanation or apology, and then when he does it’s like nothing ever happened and he didn’t break her heart for years.

If anything everyone was more upset with Noah instead of Matt, and then the ending just felt super awkward with Matt’s romantic gesture. Plus the whole stalker thing ended so quick you don’t get much satisfaction especially with how that plot line was solved.

Everything just moved too fast and felt superficial.

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Harper has loved Matt her whole life. But, when he refuses to entertain that idea, she knows she has to move forward in her life. Harper does her best, but she's disenchanted by all of the horrible dates she is sent on.

Matt has loved Harper for as long as he can remember. But, as a kid, he made a promise to her brother that she deserved someone who could offer her more than he could. When he sees her in trouble, he knows that he can't wait any longer, nor can he ignore his feelings.

This is a short, erotic second chance romance that tugs at your heart strings and sweeps you off your feet. It makes you believe in love.
