Austin
She’s my best friend’s sister, and I can’t let her go.
Ya, I work in a bar, and sure I get my fair share of the ladies. But I see them for one night, and then I send them home.
There is something different about her.
The way she smells. The way she feels.
I might just be a bartender in a small town right now, but one-day people will know my name and they will know my music.
The people in this town think I will be stuck in this bar and this small town forever, but…
I was taken, and so was it.
Now everything has changed. My dreams are coming true. But without Nicola, I feel empty.
All I care about is her. Nothing else matters.

Nicola
He’s my brother’s best friend. He was my first.
Austin Herbert has chiseled biceps and rock hard abs. His blue eyes always draw me in.
I’ve tried to forget about the one night we had years ago, but I can’t. He doesn’t see me that way. He sees me as his best friend’s sister.
One night, I walked into his bar and saw him standing there naked with his flavor of the night.
I decided to go to his house to tell him what’s on my mind.
Then, I heard his music and his voice. So, I take it. He needs this.
I don’t know if I can live without him, do I have to?
*Taken is a standalone romance with an HEA, and no cliffhanger.

Nicola is a Woman who has stayed in her home town all these years because of her love for Austin the best friend of her brother and the Man she will never have but she could never get herself to move on or find another Man in her life. Austin is a playboy through and through and has a different girl every night not remembering their names the next day. Austin has some secrets of his own one he has shared with his best friend and the other is his own secret he has never shared.

What I enjoyed most about Taken is watching how devoted Nicola was to Austin even at the end when they had their night and he pushed her away she was still willing to help him in his life and give him the one thing he wanted most. Seeing Austin and his true feelings and how when all his dreams came true there was still someone missing from it all. Austin and Nicola had been dancing around each other for years but when the truth comes out and all the feelings it leaves them in their happy place.

This book was an amazing fast read that I couldnt put down. Nicola from a small town living on her own after her brother moved to the big city for his dreams she stayed behind, Austin a man who works in the same bar he has been in for years waiting for his big moment in life when he finishes his music and moves onto something better and bigger, Nicola and Austin share what is a great night for her to realize she needs to move on and live her life, a love story. If you like stories like this, then Taken is a must!

The book was really good. Until you got to the end. It wasn't very good. I was expecting a couple of more chapters. At least to explain what happened with the ex boyfriend and possibly an epilogue. Like I said I read the book all the way through in one sitting, but was disappointed with the ending.

    Nicola and Austin:

Nicola and Austin have known each other almost all their lives. Austin is Nicola's brothers best friend. But secretly Nicola has been in love with Austin for years. One night at a party Austin took her virginity, and Nicola thinks that Austin doesn't remember and that breaks her heart like no one can. Austin has always wanted Nicola, but felt guilty about it because of her brother.

Austin has been trying for years to get his music out there. It's the only way to get out of the small town.

There really isn't much to the story. I was really disappointed in the ending. I felt that the ending lacked something. One minute Nicola has moved to Chicago, found a new man, and is trying to move on with her life. The next minute it's been years and Nicola and Austin meet up and they are together again. Could have been better I think,

Well, I feel bad leaving this review…I love to read and often find that most ARC’s are enjoyable. This is hard to do but as it is, I didn’t love this book…however, it isn’t all bad. The meat is there (no pun intentional here). They just needed a bit of tenderizing. I was totally into the book and going along with the story (very few errors in editing – really just two that I saw, so not bad at all) but then about 80% in, the story took a huge jump and I thought I was missing part of the narrative/story line. All of a sudden the book came to an abrupt end without filling in a bunch of gaps.
I liked the Nicola and even grudgingly Austin after some development. And I appreciated how Nicola stood her ground after the decision was made. Austin was developed enough to give me a good picture of him and character that I did like him. Again, just wish there as more. I hated Nicola’s brother just because of what I read – sounds like there is a book in the waiting about this character because not enough was given to make him understandable for his behavior.
Now, after I say that, what Holly Jaymes has is a good storyline with what appears to be a quick ending due to a deadline being met. Months of the story went by without much detail. And the ending…well, I feel like I went through a time-loop and came out at the end abruptly. I would suggest she retool the ending at the VERY least and re-release. This was a short book but it just needed a bit more editing and revising to make sure that it flowed all the way through to the end. It has good promise and maybe she intended it to be this way for a sequel to explain the gaps. But I despise that kind of writing…Ms. Jaymes is a good descriptive writer, don’t get me wrong. I would just suggest that the gaps be a bit more developed because I feel like it left off for a sequel to come and additional character books in a series. Promote that if that is what it is.
