Ambrose’s family tradition destroys his plan to be a forever bachelor.

Although Ambrose doesn’t wish to be with anyone long term, he must find a spouse immediately. According to the rules, no one inherits the throne unless they’re married. Additionally, his father wishes for Ambrose to seek a human. Despite not being elated with the decision, Ambrose figures doing the necessary requirement of mating and impregnating will be enough.

Max, who identifies as non-binary, is tired of being shamed and manhandled. They wish to make a living off their “hobby” but it’s not in the cards. Relationships aren’t even on their list of things to strive for, and they don’t want to change. Unless the person is a certain Hollywood star they have a crush on, Max isn’t interested.

When Ambrose meets Max at their place of employment, Max refuses to give the alien king-in-waiting the time of day.

Little does Max know Ambrose’s calm exterior is a cover up for the monster willing to go great lengths to claim them for a partner.

This title is a standalone dark romance with forced mating, dub-con, MPreg, and smartass aliens who hate to be wrong. On page violence, rough sex, and knotting are included.

When I read the blurb, I thought "Oh, this sounds like it's going to be really good." OH MY FLIPPING DEITY!! It turned out to be so much more! This fantastic, awesome, intense, raw, gritty, fascinating, intriguing, and engrossing tale was naughty, enthralling, delightfully decadent, deliciously dark, and five alarm smoking hot. 🔥🔥
The trigger warnings are spot on, so if you're looking for something light and fluffy, I would DEFINITELY recommend looking elsewhere. But if you enjoy taking a wall on the wild side, don't walk, RUN to one click this marvelous masterpiece for yourself.

I have been getting in alien type books and I definitely think that one is great!! I just love Michael Mandrake world that is created. It just pulls me into this story and I just couldn't stop reading. Just everything about this story is great. However make sure you read the trigger warnings. This might not be a book for you but for me I think this is great.

I really enjoyed reading this book. At points I did struggle to get through it, but it is totally worth the push through! I loved that the relationship between Max and Ambrose took time and wasn’t instant love for Max. I highly recommend this book!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

I'm new to the alien scene, and this was the perfect intro. The dialogue and personality of the characters are signature Michael Mandrake, and I loved them in all their messed up glory. The world Mandrake creates feels richly bizarre and is the perfect set up for the steaminess that ensues. It's all so delightfully weird and hot.

I LOVED how the nonbinary character was portrayed in this book. The they/them/theirs pronouns were flawless. I loved Max's transgender friend too. This is such a great read if you're looking for gender variance in romance. But definitely read the trigger warnings.

Can't wait for the next book by this author!

I was given an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I don't read dark romance much but the way this one was written made me enjoy it. Max and Ambrose's romance is by no means conventional but in this fictional world, it works. They work. It's a struggle but they get there. And I wanted them to find their happily ever after. I enjoyed it all. The struggle, the angst, the fight, the give, the fall, the love, the pregnancy, the HEA. I loved Max. I haven't read a book with a nonbinary character before and I enjoyed it a lot. Max was strong and feisty. No pushover for sure! Great book and one I'll read again. I look forward to more from Mandrake.

    Not my cup of tea.

    Please be aware of spoilers:

I liked the general plot when u first found the ebook, but once I got reading it, I had to force myself to finish. I sympathized with Max and scratched my head when they did a 180 degree turn from being defiant to fully loving Ambrose, who repeatedly raped them. There was no real slow turnabout of Max's feelings, just one hour they hated Ambrose and the next they was in love with him, begging for sex, when before they were willing to do anything else in order to avoid sex because it hurt and Ambrose never cared about permission. Their relationship felt forced from beginning to end (including the sex scenes), and made me mad that I wasted several hours reading this.

There were several other little issues I had and I wont mention all, but my second biggest peeve is King Tolian, such as when he chose not punish Janese and crew simply because he liked them better than Max. To me, that seemed like a weak decision from a supposedly "strong leader." I also couldn't understand how he wasn't sympathetic to Max, since he remembered how he had kidnapped and raped his own wife turned queen years ago - remembering how defiant she used to be too.

Also there was some inconsistencies: throughout the book, Max is told repeatedly that humans can never return to Earth, but after they turn lovey dovey, Ambrose says they can go back to visit and that others do it all the time. Totally different than what he and everyone else said.

Lastly, the character and world building felt all over the place. Sadly in the end, I didnt like or care about any of the characters.

I am glad I got it through Kindle Unlimited, and could return it right after I finished.

Looking for a book with little bit of dark and twist. Then you will fall in love with this book. It wasn't love at first site with these two. It was hate/love relationship that you get to see bloom into something wonderful. I like that this book showcase a character that was nonbinary and was able to pull it off wonderful. Hopefully we will see more from this world in the future. highly Recommend this book

I tried and honestly loathe giving up reading something before I've finished it, but...apparently not as much as I loathed this story. I mean, I like a good dubcon/knotting m/m book as well as the next reader, but this was just badly written, the dialogue cheesy and unrealistic, the characters wholly unlikeable, the sex tensionless and uninspired. *So* disappointing, because this got pretty good reviews for a non-binary queer romance. I made it 3/4 of the way through before simply asking myself why I was forcing myself to read this, and when the answer came back as an emphatic "YOU DON'T HAVE TO," I almost cried with relief.

Didn't do anything for me but make me cringe.
