Taking It Slow (Code Of Honor Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,359 ratings

Can two men from opposite sides of the tracks find love?

Colonel Liam Cobalt has it all. He is content being a successful colonel in the Army and a billionaire with enough money at his disposal to help others. It takes only one glimpse of Spencer Turner to change all that. When a headlong clash sets him back, he must rethink his strategy. Offering Spencer friendship instead of romance seems like a good idea even though he wants so much more.

Captain Spencer Turner grew up dirt poor. He has fought for everything he ever had and now he’s all about taking care of his younger brother. When Liam suggests “friends only”, Spencer accepts because there’s no way he can become involved with a rich man. Been there, done that. Besides, he’s got too much going on for anything else.

When a sinister enemy is hellbent on extortion, Spencer finds himself facing a no-win situation. Will Liam come to the rescue? And if he does, will Spencer accept his help? Two powerful men come together thinking they can keep it on a “friends only” level, but when the heat rises, is taking it slow the best course?

*While Taking It Slow can be enjoyed as a standalone, it is part of a series and couples from previous books are mentioned.
* Code of Honor, Cobalt Security, and Out for Justice series are loosely connected.

All of this author's series are great, Out for Justice, Cobalt Security and Code of Honor. It seems everything she writes is exciting and the characters are well drawn. I especially liked the relationships between the adults and the teenagers in this book and felt so much for what Wesley had to go through. The difficulty Spencer had in accepting Liam's wealth was also wrenching. Well done book. I wasn't ready for it to end. Would like to see more in Cobalt Security and am looking forward to the next book in this series. BTW, excellent cover!!

A well-written novel with an interesting plot that dips into light suspense. The romance between the main characters is swoon worthy, the tension and chemistry palpable. Everything develops great, and I’m definitely interested in reading more.

This book’s stated as a stand-alone read, and while I kept up with this story’s arc easily, the large cast of characters and some of the world no doubt previously built and established was a little confusing at times. It would be beneficial to read the other books first I believe.

Liam was always in the background, commanding and kind. It was about time he got to have who he wanted and was so drawn to. Spencer lived hard and worked hard, for his little brother. Letting Liam in was not what he wanted.
    But Fate had other plans.
Great story, great characters and a wonderful ending.

Action and adventure are the first things I think of when it comes to Reese Knightley's code of honor stories. There is no holding back on the action and adventure in this story of Spencer and Liam with the most delicious twist of love that curls your toes and keeps you busy turning the pages just as fast as you can because you don't know what the hell is going to hit next!
I am hoping like everything that the next Code of Honor book to come out will be Zane and Isaac because this couple is electric!

5.0 out of 5 stars military men and women fighting our dangerous world
Reviewed in Germany on October 9, 2022
This is one of eight books in the Code of Honor series. These books take you through the lives of the men and women who deal with the dangerous world we live in. Reading these books is like being a journalist embedded with a military unit. But the jobs these military members do are always done in top secret and must remain that way. Their military units have missions that are often off-the-books types. The world we live in is truly a dangerous place and seems to be getting more dangerous every day. These soldiers deal with the danger and help keep us safe. As an observer of their lives and jobs you will find joy and sadness, bringing tears and heartbreak. The eight books are standalones but I recommend you start with book one and go from there. The main characters are sprinkled through all eight books making the series read line one large novel. Recommended reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another spectacular book by Reese Knightly
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 20, 2020
I could not put this book down. I love the story line and it had just the right amount of angst. My only complaint is that it finished to quick. I think I'll have to read all of Reese's books in this series and the Out for Justice series again for the 3rd time. I just love the characters and the story lines. I can't wait for the next installment of the book whichever series comes next!!

Reviewed in Canada on April 29, 2024
The characters in this story, Liam, Spencer and his son Wesley, are all likeable, but the plot line felt as though it was written in a rush. Improbable events e.g the CAS protection racket, and even the action scenes, were unsatisfying, because of this racing effect. The love scenes seemed uninteresting and hurried. Disappointing, given the other books in this series, which are more grounded and involving. The score is relatively high, as a result. Characters were catapulted in and out, with many from the other books thrown in. Unfortunate.

Another brilliant story written by Reese. Thoroughly enjoy reading all of her books and this was no different. As soon as I start reading can't put them down. They are written so well that you just feel like you are right there with them and can feel all the emotions and chemistry between the characters. Can't wait for more books.
