Even fewer are given the responsibility that has been entrusted to Kobenan at such a young age in a role that includes analysing files for the secretive S-cell; a unit which specializes in incidents involving African mysticism and sorcery.

Tasked with investigating a high profile murder, seemingly brought about by mystical means, Kobenan joins Agent Biafle in order to diffuse this delicate political situation. What Kobenan discovers will force him to change his perspective on the world around him as he learns truths he never thought possible, and things he never imagined.

Dive into a world shrouded in mystery and learn of the multifaceted face of Africa. Its lives, its rituals, its many beliefs and thought processes. Observe what one will never be able to see if he has not gained access to a very specific circle rooted in the continent.

This suspense and fantasy novel is one of a kind. These are my favourite genres and the ones that I choose whenever I want to read something interesting and entertaining, and Tale: Book 1: Knowledge written by Yessoh G.D. didn’t disappoint me. On the contrary, I really enjoyed it.
Mixing fantasy, suspense, mystery and the paranormal, this book tells the story of Kobenan who is hired to work in the special services for the West African government of Côte d’Esperance. There, he will have to investigate and solve mysterious occurrences that seem to be related to African mysticism and sorcery. As the case grows more and more complicated, the protagonists will realise that there are forces that cannot be seen but which play a role in their lives. This hard-hitting, fast-moving plot is complemented with well-drawn characters and a descriptive prose to create this great story. I highly recommend it.

This very suspenseful story is based on Kobenan’s investigation of a murder. Let me say that it intrigued me from the first page to the last one and that my amusement grew as I turned the pages. Just when I supposed that I had figured out the plot, it surprisingly changed with an unexpected turn that I never thought possible.
What can I say about the characters? They are genuine and well-developed, which enriches the book. And regarding the setting, there's plenty of cultural data about Africa, which is very informative and usable. However, I have a point of criticism as regards the end of the story. I found it difficult to follow at some points. Anyway, it’s a good piece of work that I enjoyed.

It is a one-of-a-kind mystery adventure. I don't know why but the cover really intrigued me and I made the right choice to read it. A very well researched and written book. I can feel the passion of the author writing this book, where the attention to the culture details of the scene is impeccable. I don't know why but maybe because there are gods and goddesses involved the story, it is just too hard to let go. So, you definitely need time to read this and enjoy the whole thing in 2 or 3 sittings. The dialogues are very well written and you can feel the emotion of each and every character, definitely a good read. Can't wait for the next instalments.

Représentation is indeed powerful. This book transported me back to the childhood stories and folklore I grew up around. Our mythology is so rich that it is only right that brilliant authors like Yessoh G.D are able to masterfully tap into to produce a master piece. I can't wait for the rest of the trilogy.

I can't wait to see a movie rendition of this as well. It was a wild and exciting run.

I am definitely tuned in to discover the rest of the story.

This is urban fantasy from an African view and is well told. The first book hints at an epic tale to unfold with ancient forces involved. I look forward to reading more of this world and the characters involved. It's a great start!

Speechless at the incompetence. Never got past p57. Grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, repetitious, pompous with no substance. Have a coffee instead of buying this book. Waste of time and money. I give 1 star because I cannot give 0.

Please note: I won this book in a GoodReads Giveaway.

I very much enjoyed this book. There are some intense and scary moments that leave a creeping feeling. I’m glad how it all weaves together in the end and sets up the rest of the narrative. I was worried that this book might not have a satisfying conclusion to the stories presented, but it overall does (with a few loose threads to be expanded upon in later books - at least that’s what I assume).
