Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (The Hollywood Collection Book 1) Kindle Edition

Amazon Top 20 Bestseller

Do people say they hate someone’s guts so that they can still fall stupidly, head-over-heels in love with the other parts?
Asking for a friend.

Okay,
fine. I’m not asking for a friend.

I’m asking for
me—and I’m begging you to tell me that the practice of falling in love with your should-be-enemy is common.

Please tell me that I’m not the only person to track down a guy—
who used to be Hollywood’s baddest bad boy before he left LA for good—at his off-the-grid cabin in Alaska, show up unannounced, and find him gloriously naked.

This probably happens all the time…
right?

Tell me I’m not alone in my stupidity—that I’m not the only woman who would fall for gorgeous blue eyes and a sexy devilish smirk, even if they belong to a broody, mysterious jerk.

For the love of everything, I need all the supportive girl power I can get if I’m going to convince Luca Weaver to come back to Hollywood—otherwise known as the place he hates
so much that he ghosted Oscar-level success and escaped to no-man’s-land for the last eight years just to avoid it.

Yeah, don’t worry—that smoke you’re smelling isn’t your house catching fire as you read this…it’s just my career and what was previously known as my heart going up in flames.

Gah. Is it just me, or am I totally, completely, and utterly screwed?

Another great rom-com from Max Monroe

Another great rom-com from Max Monroe
This book started out really funny and I was loving it....until Billie’s initial hike with Luca. She sounded dumb and super ignorant. That being said, this book really picked up after that and she seemed to have more substance. We got to know the real Billie and not the facade she was putting up. Her and Luca together were perfection, after she stopped acting like a ditz. The second half of this book was SO good! I swooned hard when Luca showed up in WV in a grand romantic gesture. 😭 Overall, I loved this book and recommend reading if you like rom-com, enemies(ish) to lovers, and adventure! This book is part of series but is a complete stand alone.

A complete and utter DELIGHT to read, I loved this from the first page to the last. It’s got one incredibly memorable meet cute, so many funny moments, and chemistry that sparks off the page. I wasn’t even expecting the forced proximity, which just heightened all of the emotions and pushed this couple to open up to each other. It’s rom com goodness, enemies to lovers tension, and swoony feels all wrapped up together.

The story follows Luca, the former bad boy of Hollywood. He’s a child actor turned Oscar-level star who burned out quickly, relying on drugs, alcohol, and women more than he should. Leaving Hollywood behind, Luca fled to Alaska, where he’s spent the last 8 years living in peaceful seclusion... until Billie shows up at his door. A production assistant who seems to have promised to bring back Hollywood’s baddest boy, Billie is Luca’s worst nightmare wrapped in a beautiful package. As they clash over their competing interests, these two somehow find themselves falling for each other.

I love all of Max Monroe’s books, so I knew this would be good - but it was even better than I expected. There was never a dull moment, and who knew Alaska would be the perfect setting for romance? The forced proximity lead to tons of dialogue, banter, and a love story that feels like it develops in real time. I devoured this baby and can’t wait to see what’s next from this outstanding writing duo. I received an ARC via Social Butterfly PR (then purchased it for my collection) and am voluntarily leaving a review of this funny, fantastic book.

Taming Hollywood's Baddest Boy, by Max Monroe is a 348-page contemporary romance novel and is the first book out of a 3-part series called "Hollywood". Okay, so it says it's the first book, but honestly, if you read this book it feels more like it's the second book as scenes in this book elude to past things in the second book, but whatever. It is written from a first-person POV, two-sided.

I like the RomComs a lot, especially ones that are actually laugh out loud funny and this one delivers. Being in the mind of these characters is an absolute riot. I am also interested in the authors (that's right, plural), apparently, Max Monroe is the name of two authors who decided to write romance together. It really works. I imagine the sense of humor between the two women is similar enough, but they compliment each other well when they swap POVs so it is clear that character voices are not similar at all.

The heat level of this book is five. It's explicit, is it super dirty like Penny Wylder or Tessa Bailey? No, but it's not clean.

    Spoilers Ahead ***

Billie is a Production Assistant ("PA") for a well known movie producer. Her goal in life is to produce her own movies. Backstory for this character, her parents passed away when she was 8 or 9 (it contradicts in this story with the third book in the series) and was raised by her grandmother and older sister (who's happy ending story is covered in book 3). Billie has an insane habit...when she gets nervous, she decides to be a bit more generous with the truth. The movie she's working on is currently in the middle of casting the lead male and she implied she knows Luca Weaver, Hollywood's bad boy, who hasn't been for eight years. So her journey starts with her seeking Luca out and basically shoving the script down his throat.

Luca is a child movie star who got in a lot of trouble as he got older in Hollywood, drugs? Promiscuity? Partying? Yup. He's done it all, well maybe not all, but it's implied he was quite naughty. He tries to get rid of Billie by scaring her away with a very non city lifestyle as he lives in the middle of nowhere in Alaska. Billie's persistent though and worms her way into his heart and bed.

Overall, the characters were likeable, and the meetcute was...well, it was fun. Billie showing up on his doorstep while Luca is half-naked? Yeah, that shouldn't be awkward at all.

    Generally, here are my thoughts:

    1. The POVs from the characters are hilarious. I will say, the conflict between the two characters was more misunderstanding than anything extreme, but maybe that is just how RomCom rolls?
    2. I liked their style of writing, it was easy to read and the flow for the most part felt natural, and yes, I actually laughed out loud
    3. This is a situation where the love grew over time, so I appreciate that, so there's a lot of time warping.
    4. There is a scene in beginning that someone mentioned as being really unrealistic, namely the hiking section. And yeah, that's not realistic if you have no experience hiking, but I didn't let that bother me too much.

In summary, I give this a 4 out of 5. I plan to read the other two books.

I really didn’t know what to expect with this book by the description. As always, this author made an amazing book that I laughed and cried through and cheered for Billie by the end. Enjoyed on both kindle and audible.

I’ve enjoyed every Max Monroe book I’ve ever read and I’ve read pretty much all of them. When I heard we were getting some new words, I just couldn’t wait and thankfully I didn’t have to for long. This book did not disappoint. There was so much tension from their first meeting; I think the pages were vibrating. Or maybe that was just Billie. I guess if I was confronted by a beautiful, naked, built, angry man (did I mention he wasn’t wearing any clothes?), I’d be a little jittery, too.

Luca Weaver was Hollywood’s Baddest Boy until he walked off a movie set and disappeared from the world 8 years ago. Before he flew the coop, Luca was a household name. He was in the biggest movies. Went to the best parties. Knew all the right people. Until enough was enough and he had to change his life or he wouldn’t have a life anymore.

Billie Harris is working as a Production Assistant in Hollywood, working for a producer who has the hottest new script in town. Billie offered up Luca as the male lead, like she was a personal friend, instead of just a girl who had a crush on an actor when she was younger. Now all she had to do was find him, get him to read the script and agree to come back to Hollywood. Easier said than done, even if she had overheard his Agent mention his name while she was at lunch the day before.

Off the grid Billie goes to find her Hollywood Leading Man. And when she finds him, he is not too happy to see her, especially since he has no idea who she is or what she wants. I love the give and take between Luca and Billie. They’re both stubborn, hard-headed and think their way is the right way. The chemistry is insane, almost as insane as the trek through the forest that Billie follows Luca on so she can try to wear him down.

I can definitely say this is one of my favorite Max Monroe books. Maybe it’s because of the plotline, or the fact that the female lead is a sarcastic, loudmouth, loves her sister, type of chick I hope to be if I ever grow up. They are just perfect together, but first they need to figure that out for themselves before they both blow it. What a great read!

As usual, Max Monroe delivers a hilarious story - this time a take on an enemies to lovers trope. Billie is a production assistant in Hollywood who makes a promise nearly impossible to deliver on to keep and boost her career. She finds Luca, former Hollywood bad boy, in the middle of no where Alaska in hopes of being the person who can bring him back to Hollywood years after he disappeared. Will she succeed or kill her own career? Billie and Luca had great banter, and there were some quite amusing inner monologues too. This is another fun book from Max Monroe and perfect for a light hearted read with some laughs along the way!

When one of Max Monroe’s books hits my kindle then I know I’m in for a good few hours of witty off the cuff banter, crazy tales and all the laughs as well as an addictive and captivating storyline.
I can’t help but fall in love with the characters and am always sad to leave them when the book ends and brooding Hollywood bad boy Luca and cowboy boot wearing Billie bringing all the sass were no different. I’d even throw it out there and say they’re probably my favourite couple so far!!
I can’t wait to see where Max Monroe’s next book takes us! Their wit and sarcasm never fail to have me hanging on to my sides crying with laughter and in this crazy world there’s nowhere else I’d rather escape to!
    I highly recommend this read!!
