Tangled Echoes (Reconstructionist Book 2) Kindle Edition
At least until the one person I couldn’t lose went missing.
Because then I’d relive every dark moment of my childhood, confront every heartbreak, and even sell my soul if that was what it took to get her back.
Because I couldn’t accept a future — not even a promised one of immortality and unbridled power — that didn’t include one of the only two people I’d ever truly loved.
--------------------
This 76,000 word urban fantasy is the second book in the Reconstructionist Series by author Meghan Ciana Doidge. Author’s note: the ideal reading order of the Reconstructionist Series is after the first six books in the Dowser Series and the three books in the Oracle series, but it's not absolutely necessary to read the Dowser or the Oracle series before reading the Reconstructionist Series.

by Meghan Ciana Doidge
I borrowed this book from the Kindle Unlimited program and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
Wisteria Fairchild is a Reconstructionist. Using her wild magic, she is able to recreate a scene. Any kind of scene, but most often she works on crime scene. That may be why Kettil, the Executioner, has chosen her to be his Child out of her entire family.
When her beloved cousin goes missing, she finds that she has no choice but to return home, a place she escaped years ago in order to save her cousin and her first and only love, Declan. She fled her uncle, the man who created the contract with Kett to make a Fairchild into a vampire, preferably the evil uncle.
The story never stops moving, never stops twisting and never stops grabbing the reader by the throat to keep turning the pages. Lovers find each other again but have to decide whether they want each other. Vampires fight against each other and against magic. And Kett learns that Wisteria is morethan he thought and worth far more than anything he ever sought.
Doidge's magical systems are unique and intriguing. And the family dynamics are more frightening than the evil doers, but also more realistic.
While this is connected to Doidge's Dowser series (which I have never read) it can be read alone.
I can't wait to start book three.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2019This book is part of the dowser series. Rather than have books directly in the series from a different POV, the author chose to have these "off-shoot" series books. I suspect you could read all the dowser books without these side series but it makes for a much richer experience to read them all in order.
All that aside, this is one of the best series I have read in a while. The characters are developed and the relationships grow. The world is richly imagined, the writing is good, and the storyline develops in ways you don't always expect.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2020Remember how the last book just dangled secrets and left you wanting more? Well, this book is the punch we were all looking for.
Wisteria is going about her normal, controlled life, complete with the impending vampire-dom hanging over her head. Everything shifts when one of her triad of "loves" ends up going missing. It takes a brief call from Declan (another third of the triad) for her to drop all her previous agreements and show up back in Fairchild territory. It was simply amazing to watch Wisteria come in to her powers in this book. We learn all the secrets, we get to watch all the drama and baggage get unpacked, and we get a really truly satisfying ending, too!
This book had everything for me. It had romance, some sexy sizzle, lots of magic and power, a bit of a mystery, and a tough main character who will do literally anything to protect her friends. I admit to dragging my feet a little before getting into this book because the previous one left me feeling a little "meh" about her. This book has me immediately looking to what book is next in the series and how fast I can get to it. I cannot wait to see what happens with the estate, the friends, the hierarchy, the vampires, and all of the magical mayhem that will undoubtedly happen along the way.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2017This is probably my favorite series of Meghan Ciana Doidge's. Mostly because of Wisteria since she is utterly human, or as human as any Adept can be. She is so strong, smart, adaptive, and willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people she holds in her heart. The author does a terrific job balancing Wisteria's strengths, weaknesses, and back story into a gripping book well worth the read. There are a couple things that are problematic though. The first is when you finish the book, you'll only want more!!! And secondly, the next book isn't out yet. Still, it's a must read series.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2017I have to say I love all of the books set within the same world as the Dowser series. This includes the Dowser series, the Oracle series and now the Reconstructonist series. Each book ends with me yelling I want more. However, the author, Meghan Ciara Doidge is smart than I am. For after I stop yelling and dwell a bit on the story I start realizing there is more detail and subtly than I first recognize. Her writing is evocative and addicting; her characters are well rounded and unexpected. For a highly enjoyable read, check out these books!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2024This book is, for me, is about attachments. The strong attachment between the characters in the story and the surprisingly strong attachment I formed to each of them. The events in the lives of three of the characters, and the way the characters are drawn, triggers a fierce sense of loyalty from me. The need to see them protected, vindicated, and safe had me flying through the book the first time I read it. On this, my second reading, I was able to cherish all the nuances of their connection. If you have not read this book, I hope you do so just to spend some time with characters that feel so real in a world that you may come to almost believe actually is.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2017We are introduced to Declan in this book and given much more insight into Wisteria Fairchild's memories - the good and the horrific. The author introduces us to the Fairchild clan that Wisteria left behind - for very good reasons. Kett and Jasmine are there too, and all are in danger.. Well, Kett probably isn't..
We also get to see Wisteria fully embrace her very powerful magic, with help from the "trinket" crafted by the Dowser, Jade Godfrey.
This book deals with some very dark content and issues. I still highly recommend reading it. If you are new to this author, you should definitely read the rest of all of the series, as recommended by the author, or else you will probably be lost with all of the interactions and characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2023This book is as amazing as all of Doidge’s others. In the middle there is some aspects of the romance I didn’t like, but I’m glad I kept reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can pick your friends but you are stuck with your family!
I pre-ordered my copy I was so anxious to have it. This is the 2nd book in the Reconstructionist series. It filled in so many of the questions I had from the first book. Absolutley intriguing storyline. The Fairchild's are one of the founding magical families. This delves into some of their dark secrets.
I recommend reading Catching Echoes first. Even though you could read this as a stand alone, you will understand and enjoy it more after reading the first book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even Better
I really liked the first book Catching Echoes which was well written and as always character driven. Tangled Echoes goes even further and takes the reader even deeper into the life of Wisteria and her past. The interactions between the characters is well written and at times very intense. A lot of answers about Wisteria and why she behaves as she does prior to this book are revealed. Without giving away any spoilers I just want to say Wisteria really rocks and I am eagerly looking forward to the next part of her story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book. I have read all of this series so far.
Excellent book. I got sucked in so badly that I bought the rest of the series. Original story. I hope there are more books written in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan-flipping-tastic!
So enjoying this series!!!!
Finally seeing into Wisteria's horrifying past.
Finding out what dear uncle Jasper had done to her, Declan and Jasmine was something I'm surprised they came back from.
You can see Wisteria's love for Declan and Jasmine, the way she's trying to protect them from Jasper AND the contract to turn one of them.
The way the power of three is finally back together, but in the last place I think any of them expected to be.
I love Kett!! I think or believe he and Wisteria are made for each other.
More please :D
