Teardrop Shot: A Friends to Lovers Sports Romance Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 8,629 ratings

I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that's the PG version.
He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies.
And just like that, our friendship was off to a
great start.

Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder.
Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation.
He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work.

Correction: where I work
again, because I was fired from my last job.
And dumped.
And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right?

Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends.
We shouldn’t have become roommates.
And we
really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.)

I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA.
This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all.

Teardrop Shot is a 100k standalone sports romance.

An emotional, gut-wrenching sports romance 🏀🧡
All the feels, from beginning to end!! 🧡🏀🪄 “It’s going to mean something.” - Reese Forster Tijan’s Teardrop Shot is a moving, gut-wrenching new adult sports romance, and is perfect for anyone who is not afraid to feel. As recommended by book friends, I found myself a bit perplexed by the ominous tone that affected Charlie, a heroine who is finding her bearings, after getting out of a “tragically stupid” relationship that molded her into the very person who returns to her old stomping grounds—including ghosted friends, in need of work. Enter, hot-shot basketball celebrity, Reese Forster. On the fringes of escaping a familial scandal, Reese and his team seek refuge at a secret training camp site. Unbeknownst to Charlie, Reese has no idea—nor any hesitation—in interacting with the oddly, weirdly intriguing Charlie. “Life’s different at this stage, and …I really think, you’re my teardrop shot. You’re the high arch in my life. You’re beautiful inside and out, and you’re rare. So very rare.” - Reese I was warned that this book would tear me to shreds piece by piece and the truth was that it did. But then as with Charlie, healing began, thus, merging the journey of her past, with that of the present and future. I devoured this enemies-to-lovers, b-ball celebrity falls for quirky girl story in a day!? Charlie and Reese’s story touches on not only dealing with the travesties of life, but the journey in healing. If you enjoy these tropes, than I highly recommend. Tijan, thank you for this emotional story! I laughed, cried, and everything in between!!! 🏀🖤

Teardrop Shot is another wonderful story in the many amazing worlds of Tijan. Charlie's life has been pretty tragic and she's just been barely holding on. Now she's lost her job and the guy she was seeing was cheating on her. One of her old friends comes back into her life and brings her back to the camp she used to work at 8 years ago. Trent, Owen, Hadley, and Grant were like another family to Charlie and they haven't been together in 8 years. They all worked at Echo Island Camp and Trent wants to bring her back for the summer. The camp has been rented out and Charlie goes back to help.

Reese Forster was Seattle Thunder's Star Point Guard and Charlie's favorite basketball player. The Seattle Thunder rented out the camp for preseason practice and to keep private. Journalists have been sharing information about Reese due to his brother and his family.

I love both Charlie and Reese. Their lives are completely different but they both have been through a lot.

Charlie has a tendency to hide behind "acting crazy" and asking really strange questions. She has had so much on her shoulders and she's been alone through so much. For the past year, she's been pretty much switched off and not dealing with things.

Reese has a tendency to be standoffish and at times appear cold. His family is pretty messed up. His older brother Roman's an alcoholic and uses Reese's name to get things from people. His parents aren't much better. His father's an alcoholic as well and his mother can't really handle much.

    Definitely worth reading.

…you’re my teardrop shot. You’re the high arch in my life.

Teardrop Shot is simply incredible. Tijan absolutely blew me away with this book! In the spirit of honestly, I will say that I struggled initially to get into the story. I had faith in Tijan’s methods as I have yet to read a book by the author that I didn’t love. And in the end, I absolutely adored this book for its exquisitely beautiful story as well as the differences I found from other stories of the genre.

Q: ‘Who couldn’t communicate except through random outbursts of ... questions.’

Teardrop Shot while not my favorite book by Tijan—sorry, that feat belongs solely to Bennett Mafia! 😉 However, it was a deeply satisfying romance that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend far and wide! I knew from previous experiences that Tijan is a master storyteller who delves deeper with characters and plot development than is often shown in modern literature and Teardrop Shot was no different. By employing a (primarily) single perspective, Tijan wrote a beautiful story about two broken souls drawn to one another despite their desires to keep their hearts inaccessible. Reese and Charlie were equally fun, fresh, and unique—Charlie especially. A heroine who speaks her mind is no longer surprising in literature, however, Charlie with her brusque and brash questions and crazy façade definitely won me over long before I understood her nature. Reese was a little more of an enigma yet once he began to open up and we saw the true duality of his character, I was completely gone for him!

Q: Crazy was a nice firm wall that I kept around myself, shielding people from getting too close, or from me connecting as a real human being kinda way.

The contemporary YA, sports romance drew forth a wide range of emotions from laughter to true heart-wrenching angst and everything in between. With her customary connection, this hero and heroine quickly roped me into a story that I couldn’t put down. I’ve yet to read a story by the author that wasn’t captivating because I truly believe that she puts her all into each book she pens. I recognize several hallmarks whenever I read Tijan’s writing, these include: a true mastery of storytelling, the emotional roller-coaster, and exceptional character/plot development. And she exhibited these skills beautifully within the pages of Teardrop Shot, thus penning an entertaining romance. Additionally, I found that once again Tijan showed her range of talents as this storyline is much different from the previous books I’ve read by the author or within the contemporary romance genre. It was unpredictable and unique… and without a doubt, deserving of Five Stars!!!

Q: I was just now starting to stand. If I kept falling, sinking more and more into the Reese tsunami, he would spit me out broken in pieces. When did self-preservation kick in?

basketball romance is going to hit every time. being completely honest i wasn’t feeling the start of the book, but i kept going and i absolutely loved it.

charlie was so hilarious and quirky that i couldn’t get enough of her. i was LIVING for the random questions. also her strength is absolutely unmatched. i could not believe what she had to endure, and she handled it all on her own for so long. she has my heart.

reese forster has made it to my list list of book bfs. the way he answered every single one of her questions?! every time?!? this man was made for charlie and i loved every moment they were together. i adore how he was strong for her and he never let her hide.

WARNING: this book is for mature audiences (18+). it also includes grief, sibling loss, multiple mentions of rehab and alcoholism, and chronic illness: dementia.

Tijan you have ripped my heart out, scrambled it and then pasted it back together and shoved it back in. I am currently reading you suggested reading order this month and each one so far has gutted me, brought me joy and then smothered me in a warm blanket of love. Your writing style, research and storylines are just exquisite, so please excuse me while I quietly sob in the corner and prepare for the next installment to my emotional damage month x

As always at the content I notice it has a lot of chapters and then I'm thinking "Oh no" but every time I remind myself it's Tijan she writes fantastic! So then I knew I would love it, because I love it when my books last longer when I love em.

At first I found it funny how Charlie asked those questions. With progressing in the books they went away and that was a bit sad, I really liked em. Charlie her past was so sad, I felt really bad for her! I felt sad for Damian also because I can imagine how hard that is! Every time I forget something (which is a lot) I fear I have this. It runs in my family (not the early kind) with my grandparents on both side, I know they skip a generation so yup I'm a bit scared for it. How hard that must be for all people involved, it shows it really good in this one!

Sometimes I had the feeling the story didn't really connect but even though I felt that way I forgot it and loved it just as much.

Reese is such a sweetie even though he didn't think so. He was everything Charlie needed and even more!

I love every Tijan book I've read so far (I haven't read the paranormal because it isn't my type. But if one could convince me it's her.)

Tijan is also known to take on subjects that people ignore or not know much about, so that bring it to attention.

The tears won’t stop, happy tears, sad tears, peed off at life tears... I’m so in awe of this book, and of Tijan- WOW!! TEARDROP SHOT is an ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!

I read this book on a whim, but mostly because a friend of mine is obsessed with Tijan, and I owed her one. If wasn’t already a fan, I’m now the official stalkery kind!! ( Although, reading Enemies already secured that).

I feel like a manic- depressive (and I use that term loosely, I’m a mental health professional)- I went from extremes of laughing to crying, griping my heart to swooning and being so proud of a heroin’s courage to combusting into flames and oft times all at once... this book was touching on such an deep level especially for me. Reece is the kind of book boyfriend you’d want in real life... and, it sure helps he’s a hot-shot basketball superstar!!

Teardrop Shot is deliriously off the charts a quirky unconventional funny but still hits ALL THE FEELS!!

“It was like my heart was made of flower petals. Each one opened, beginning to collect, build, blossom. His last words were the last petal falling into place, completing the heart.”

Charlie and Reece will hold a special place in my heart for years to come. This isn’t just a romance read, it’s something that will resonate with people- the story of the characters in this book has the power to change lives and that is truly beautiful and awe-inspiring.

“He had kissed me like he was starving, then shoved inside like he was dehydrated. I loved it—“

I’m writing this review with tears in my eyes, I commend anyone who writes anything dementia related in their stories but the focal point of this aspect of the story is what is most gripping. This story will crush you, make you LOLOL and question your sanity.

“The correct usage of crazy aside, you are a complete ball of psychosis at times.”~ Reece, Teardrop Shot.

    I cannot recommend this enough.
