Ten or Fifteen Miles Kindle Edition
Jeremiah Rollins grew up in San Francisco under the shadow of his father's successful shipping business. But Jeremiah craves the adventure he reads about in the dime novels he can’t get enough of. On a whim, and despite his father’s disapproval, he signs up for the Pony Express and leaves his old life behind for the steep, rocky trails that cross the Sierra Nevada. Both men are excited to begin their journey on their first ride together to Nevada Territory.
They set out, making their way from station to station, racing as fast as their horses can carry them, and their friendship grows every mile. They both wanted adventure, but they may end up getting more than they dreamed of.
Every ten or fifteen miles brings new experiences, and new feelings that grow with each mile they pass. A friends to lovers, gay historical fiction.

About the Author
BL Maxwell grew up in a small town listening to her grandfather spin tales about his childhood. Later she became an avid reader and after a certain vampire series she became obsessed with fanfiction. She soon discovered Slash fanfiction and later discovered the MM genre and was hooked.
Many years later, she decided to take the plunge and write down some of the stories that seem to run through her head late at night when she's trying to sleep.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020This was my first read by BL Maxwell and I'm sorry to say that it was quite disappointing.
I had been looking forward to reading this from the moment I noticed it, because I was in the mood for something historical and since I'm an American history fanatic, it seemed to be just the right book for me.
Alas...it wasn't.
It felt as if the story could have been so much more. There was hardly any character development, it felt superficial and too much insta love. Also, there is no sex on page. It's not always necessary, when the story is so good you don't actually miss having the hot moments. But this wasn't that story. I can't help but thinking it might even have made it a better read if there had been some steam.
Also, Tim's and Jeremiah's voices sounded similar, too much alike, and the drama with the accident felt as if the author could have done a lot more with that. It's all too easy, too much stereo typing and it lacks the authenticity of the time era, despite the horses and the trails and the territories and the stations.
I really hoped this book had a lot more to offer than it actually did.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020I love historical fiction and this one is superb. And I have read much about Native American tribes that truly celebrated love in every form.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2021Now, this is what I'm talking about! A wonderful story that's low on angst and high on tenderness and devotion. Tim Latham had only been riding for the Pony Express for a week before he has to show new guy Jeremiah Rollins the trail. Against his father's wishes, Jeremiah leaves San Francisco to joins the Pony Express, craving adventure he's read about in dime novels. The young men become friends as they share the journey to the Nevada Territory encountering challenges with less-than-honorable station owners and mother nature's creatures. Then Tim suffers an injury when his horse is spooked by a rattler and he is taken to a Native American tribe for healing. The medicine man seems aware that Tim's feelings towards Jeremiah are so much more than mere friendship, referring to him as Tim's mate and encouraging him to let Jeremiah know how he feels. Jeremiah returns his affections and both are united in a ceremony when visiting the tribe later on in the story. Ah, I'm tearing up again! I needed the soul-cleansing this story provided. So many historic love stories depict some level of shaming, if not total hostility with violence. This book was pure in its avoidance of that toxicity. BL Maxwell used words that allowed me to see that sky, the mustangs running free, feel the heat, smell the horses! Such sensations! Sheesh! I loved this more than I can convey.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020BL Maxwell is a fabulous author and I was so excited to hear that she was releasing a new book in May about the Pony Express!! From the desserts of Nevada, neighborhoods of Sacramento, haunted houses, and isolated dark streets ..she transports us back in time to 1860 when riders rode between stations to deliver mail. Jeremiah and Tim ride together between the different stations to deliver mail and when Tim gets injured, Jeremiah has to ride on without him while he heals. They're counting down the miles until they're reunited. I love this latest new addition to BL Maxwell's books and I can't wait to read more!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2020I really enjoyed reading this great, fascinating, fantastic, interesting, grab-you-by-the-feels, interesting, informative, and totally awesome story. The author painted such a vivid picture that I almost felt like I was actually there. I would recommend getting this ASAP.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020This book was a breath of fresh air and I enjoyed it immensely. Tipper, the traveler, stole the show. He’s incredible and I’d like to shake his paw. Also, Lak’a is right: love is worth fighting for. “To love, and to find someone who loves you, is a gift you should not squander.” Tim and Jeremiah went looking for adventure and found so much more. They found beauty, strength, hope and love in all of its myriad forms. I could feel their happiness and it made me wish I could ride the Pony Express. A delightful read that put a huge smile on my face.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2021I loved this book. Tim Latham has only been with the pony express a week. He is tasked with showing the new guy the ropes. Jeremiah Rollins grew up in San Francisco but wants to see more and have adventures like what he reads about. Despite his fathers disapproval he joins the pony express. Both men are excited about the journey. But when Tim gets hurt. Can Jeremiah get them to where they need to go. And make the delivery in time? And more importantly can the love they have grow into more?

4.0 out of 5 stars Historical, wild west , pony express
A very sweet , historic story of two pony express riders. They started as acquaintances, fellow riders, but with each mile ridden, friends. When Tim is thrown and injured, Jeremiah does everything to make sure he has help. I really liked it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Free on the wind
A sense of juvenile wonder flows through this tale, as these two young men begin to live their lives as young adults. The fresh breath of running on horseback, running fast as is necessary to be Pony Express, running for the thrill of running permeates every line. A few adventures, a few discoveries, and a freedom only the open Old West can offer leave the reader lighthearted and with a smile
