That's the Way I Loved You Kindle Edition

Savannah

This town ain't big enough for the two of us.
Which is why I left.

I was determined never to return to Hale, Texas. But when my new life in the Big Apple throws me a curve ball, I have to go back to tie up loose ends. One of those being him.

Jason Whitney was my first everything. Kiss, love, epic heartbreak. He shattered my world once upon a time, and apparently, he’s not done yet.

With old demons lurking around every corner, hightailing it out of my hometown is at the top of my list. Complete my unfinished business, and I get to leave any memory of my country existence behind.

Only, with each day I spend in it, with each moment I spend with him, I’m turning back into the girl who laid in the tall grass and swam in the creek all those years ago.

And I’m not sure that who I was is ready to let me go again.

Jason

We drew a line down the middle, and neither of us has crossed it.
That is, until Savannah Reese blew back into our hometown.

The day my high school sweetheart left, she took my whole heart with her. We promised each other forever, made plans that only teenagers could believe in, and crashed and burned on the grandest of scales.

When Savannah last saw me, I was a disgraced high school athlete. All washed up, I took it out on the only person who loved me. Then her world really fell apart, and I was too selfish to care.

Now she’s back, ready to sell the only remaining thing tying us to each other. I’ve been breaking my back for the last ten years not to think about her, not to be reminded of the love we shared.

But now that she’s right here, it’s impossible to forget how we used to be. Or let go of what we still are.

Sweet Home Alabama meets The Notebook
4 out of 5 stars
Sweet Home Alabama meets The Notebook
Alright y'all, this adorable romance is like Sweet Home Alabama (Reese Witherspoon movie) meets The Notebook. And I loved every single minute of it. Savannah left Hale, Texas in a whirlwind of grief and rage 10 years ago. Now she's attempting to buy an apartment with her boyfriend of 4 years. But she has a cabin in Texas that's about to be foreclosed on? Now she has to go back to her hometown to deal with it so she can fully move on with her new life. Jason had always hoped Savannah would come home, but he never expected that when she did, it would be with a Yankee attitude and a chip on her shoulder. She is dead set about selling their love cabin and he isn't having it. So he makes her a deal, if she stays and helps him fix it up, he'll buy her half and she's free to go. Hopefully he can make her fall in love with him all over again. These two fight like Noah and Allie from The Notebook, and make up the same way too. It is adorable! The Sweet Home Alabama notes are strong too which made it all the better.

Amazing. Beautiful. Heart-wrenching. Jam packed with emotions. This book pulled at every single one of my heart strings in the absolute best way. Hands down I think this is my favorite Carrie Aarons book of all time.

Savannah Reese had moved on from her hometown, at least she thought she had. 10 years later she’s being forced to go back to Hale, Texas to tie up loose ends. Loose ends that bring her face to face with the boy who stole her heart so long ago, and never really gave it back.

Jason Whitney has loved Savannah since they were kids. She left in epic fashion and blew back into town much the same way. Jason still loves her, but he’s tried so hard to move past it, never quite succeeding. Now that she’s back old feelings are being brought to the surface, and this time he’s determined to fight for her, but will it be enough?

I absolutely love every single thing about this story. The characters, the plot, everything about this book was pure gold. Trust me when I say, this book is one that you won’t be able to put down. From the first to the last page this book had me enraptured. Jason and Savannah are the perfect storm, yet perfect for each other. This is a beautiful second chance romance that everyone needs to read!

This is an easy read but I honestly didn’t care for the characters at. Savannah is very immature and honestly kind of annoying. Her family and Jason aren’t even upset that she has been gone 10 years. And the things Jason said to her after her mothers death is unforgivable in my opinion. I don’t think they were soulmates at all.

I just loved how real this book was! The characters were real, with real people problems and real people lives. And I love just how truly southern it was! (It really felt like the author knew what it is like living in the south!) It's definitely one that resonates with my little Southern Heart!

Savannah is one of those girls. She's had her own set of problems that lead to her leaving everything behind and heads for the big city lights. When life and circumstances lead her back to her home town, the one she left behind is suddenly right there in front of her, and she has to rethink all of those decisions she made so long ago.

Jason loved Savannah with everything he had, until his world blew up, and in the process of loosing everything, he lost her too. When she comes back to town, he remembers how good it was, how perfect it was, and is determined to remind her of the good times!

This book is full of the charm and hospitality that the South is known for! What is that saying? You can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl?!? This book definitely proves that. Savannah's years in the city could not take her heart away from her home town, no matter how hard she tried. And Jason was just the perfect Southern male to show her that! This book felt like coming home!

Savannah thought she had the life she wanted until she had to go home. Jason has only ever loved one woman. A decade apart and their love is still there. It takes more than love to make a relationship. This is the book I most needed today. It was sweet, had laughs and an abundance of love.

Couldn't get into this book. The story should have pulled me in, yet pushed me out. She left after tragically losing her mom and having her boyfriend practically push her out the door. She built a new life and career. But when she comes back her family and the town are all whiney like she's bad for leaving and how dare she! No one made an effort for her, that is where I lost interest.

    ESP ::

    ENG ::

This second chance romance has a nice story, one that reminded me a little bit the “Sweet Home Alabama” movie with Reese Witherspoon.

The main characters... the girl, Savannah, I confess I didn’t love her. I liked many things she expressed and identified with how she felt but she was not my favorite at all.

Jason was the character that I felt did the more growing as a person. He was the one that seemed to wanted things to work between them (and he had to, because he had a very jerky moment in the past).

The HEA is very nice and the best of all, I discovered this author and will definitely be reading more of her books!

When Savannah is attempting to buy the apartment of her dreams with her boyfriend, Perry, she discovers her old life still has its claws out and wants her back! Travelling from New York to Texas, she goes to get the debts outstanding in a house paid off so that she can run back to her life. Fate, however has other ideas! Savannah comes face to face with her ex, Jason and the old feelings are still there but stronger than ever! How will Savannah resolve all the issues and feelings? Will she go back to Perry or stay with Jason? I loved this story as it was like seeing old friends and hoping that they patch up their differences. The chemistry between them burned brightly as did their emotions. Carrie is one of my favourite authors, pulling me into each book and wrapping me in love!
