The London Chance: MM Romance Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 267 ratings

Two strangers, an online dating app, and a chance at forever…

Chance

After months of online correspondence with a sexy businessman, we’re finally meeting in person—in London, no less!

Okay. It’s a casual meet-up. Nothing to get excited about. I fully understand that online connections don’t always translate in person. Roman could be pompous or worse…boring.

Wish me luck!

Roman

Dinner with my online “friend” doesn’t go well. I shouldn’t be disappointed. That’s life.

But just as I’m ready to write our peculiar acquaintanceship off, Chance turns up unexpectedly at a karaoke bar. Don’t ask what I’m doing there. I have no idea. However, I don’t mind at all. It feels like the universe is giving us a cosmic redo. Sure, Chance lives in California and my home is in the UK now, but this feels like the real thing. Something worth taking a chance on.

A forever chance.

The London Chance is an MM, bisexual romance featuring an American, a Canadian, a dating app, and an unexpected HEA.

The London Chance first appeared in the H2H Charity Anthology, vol. 6. This version includes an additional original short story.

Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write.

She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!

Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!

Naturally, a book by Lane Hayes set in London is ALWAYS going to be worth a chance. After 📖 this years (2023)) knock it out of the park success of “Fairy Cakes in Winter”, I couldn’t be happier to return to the magic of London and the spells it casts for gay men from different continents when they meet and commingle in Her Majesties/His Majesties royal kingdom.
The two men in question meet on a dating app, hit it off and decide after the success of their virtual camaraderie to try it in person when “Chance” comes for business.
I do not intend to spoil the rest of the story other than to tell that it’s comprised of the author’s requisite HEA, a number of “off the chart” M/M ❤️‍🔥 scenes, wonderful characters in wonderful environs and (especially for this reader), a BIG cameo/easter egg tying this book previously released in an anthology and another one of the author’s BEST 📚 (IIMO). SO, if you’re asking me, Take a Chance on “The London Chance” and your “Fairy Cakes will not be in the least bit sorry… 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧‼️

Sometimes I’m just in the mood for a sweet, low angst romance and this one was perfect for that. Lane Hayes is a one click author for me because I know she always delivers a a great, heartwarming book.

This was a sweet read that once I got going, I didn’t want to put down! Chance and Roman met using an app, and quickly fell into a strong like of each other with all the getting to know you questions that bantered back and forth. Sounds like a perfect reason for these two to kick start a relationship, except they lived on separate continents! Chance lives in California, and Roman in London. A little work finagling brings them together in London for an epically awful first date! What unfolds is another opportunity for these two to connect and connect they did! I loved seeing them get their second chance together and find their footing! Their story was steamy and fun, and left me with a smile! This originally appeared in the H2H Anthology, but this version is expanded with more Roman and Chance!!

+ 4.75 stars* Fairy Cakes in Winter is my favorite of Lane Hayes’ books. London Chance has a similar tone and feel and is also extremely enjoyable. It is set in the same fictional universe as Fairy Cakes, and we even get cameos from Scott (from Fairy Cakes). In many ways, London Chance feels like an echo of Fairy Cakes - the story and even the characters feel a bit similar, especially Chance and Theo (from Fairy Cakes). London Chance is a milder Fairy Cakes, with less angst and (slightly) less powerful personalities. But I still loved every bit of it.

Roman is a transplanted Canadian, now settled in London, where his life, career, and social life are all humming along nicely - except for romance. But he’s got an improbable prospect in this charismatic guy, Chance, who he’s been extensively chatting with through a dating app. Chance is an American who comes to London for a business trip he uses as an opportunity to meet Roman - who he’s similarly taken with even though they’ve never met. So they decide to take a chance and meet in person in London, and let’s just say that things do not go at all how they expected. What follows is a sweet story that will keep you smiling, even when Hayes gently tugs the heartstrings. Chance is funny and his dynamic with Roman is fabulous. These are two expertly drawn characters that you will love. I adore Roman and Chance together, and I wish we had more time with them. Highly recommended.

The sweet little novella was packed full of good feels. I always appreciate when the characters are nicely fleshed out if the story is on the short side. I felt a real connection between the MCs, and the relationship felt authentic.
Communicating for some time on an app, Chance is traveling to London from LA to finally meet Roman. Their first date was an absolute disappointment to the two men. They both anticipated this meeting for some time. Roman felt such a letdown when they parted. He went for a walk, and then he found the cause for his letdown, drunk and singing karaoke. Roman is such a sweetheart, and even though he didn’t click with Chance, he couldn’t leave him alone in that condition. After a hilarious time trying to find his hotel, Chance ended up going home with Roman.
Ironically, the two men find they are a great match and enjoy each other’s company. After spending several weeks with Roman, it really kills Chance to head back home.
Chance is perfect for Roman, but how can this work? You need to just have faith that Ms. Hayes will deliver a story that makes you smile and sigh from the first awkward date to their leaving each other. I highly recommend this romance that puts butterflies in my stomach. Happy reading.

The London Chance is perfect for people who are looking for a low angst, easy read. From the fall out of a disastrous first date to a sweet bonus story, it’s all sweetness and steam.

Chance and Roman are both enjoyable characters. Chance is lively & carefree, a good match for Roman’s reservedness. Neither thinks that a long distance relationship can work but are willing to enjoy the time they do have as much as they can. It leads to some moments as they realize the end is coming and a cute resolution.

Humor and heat blend well to give readers a quick journey to HEA for two delightful characters. After enjoying this and Fairy Cakes in Winter so much, Lane Hayes is going on my must read author list.

Roman and Chance seem to be a match made in heaven, or are they? When they meet it doesn't go well. I love Lane Hayes' writing, and I felt that The London Chance is one of her best. There's lots of humour, Chance singing Karaoke is hilarious 🤣 I really enjoyed reading about Roman and Chance falling in love. I'm so pleased that she expanded the story. Chance is so adorable, and scatty, he really made me smile! If there's a disaster to be made, he's there 😉 Roman is Chance's match and more. I loved how their love is cemented in this add-on. Lovely, thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to hear more from this pair and their friends.

This is an absolutely gorgeous tale of two men and their crazy, fun filled relationship. Along with their craziness we get the band of friends, equally mad and adventurous, all making this a wonderful little story. Then its not even over when you think its over, there are bonus snippets to read at the end.

A bad date, drunken karaoke, and taking a chance on long-distance love.
The set up if the story kept the pace ticking along nicely. It hit all the right beats and the plane scene was really cute.
I'm glad there was another story after the epilogue so we could see Chance and Roman married
