The Banker: A beach resort bodyguard romance (Starling Key Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 19 ratings

My name’s Isaac D’Amico and I’m the banker behind luxury beach resort, Starling Key.

I’m also the proud owner of:
- An IQ of 159, one digit lower than Albert Einstein
- An esteemed career with the CIA
- And an MBA in romancing rich, married, unattainable women

In a nutshell, I have better things to do than provide the security detail for a nineteen-year-old pop star.
Unfortunately, the minute I see Aurelia Bird getting out that car looking every inch the multi-million dollar sign her parents treat her as, my head has other plans. In that split second I become an unofficial guardian, a father figure, a protector.

That’s ok, as long as it doesn’t interrupt my pursuit of rich, lonely, insatiable housewives
That’s ok, until, for some inexplicable reason, I don’t want to do that anymore
That’s ok, until her superstar ex comes back for a second chance
And that’s ok too, until she gives him one

I’m Isaac D’Amico, and I’m in love with someone fifteen years my junior. Someone I should be protecting.
But the closer we become, and the more about her I learn, the more obsessed I get. Until it’s crystal clear the person she really needs protecting from, is me.

This age gap bodyguard romance brings the heat to the Florida Keys against a backdrop of luxury and suspense.

The Banker is book 3 in the Starling Key series. It is advisable to read books 1 and 2, The Brain and The Brawn first.

Hi readers!

I write contemporary romance about love worth fighting for. Welcome to my page!

I live in the rural south of England with my husband, daughter and crazy sprockapoo.

Until recently, I inhabited the fast-paced, adrenalin-fuelled workplaces I write about, as a communications professional. Now I spend my days dreaming up new characters and stories and trying not to lose my marbles as the mother of a spirited preschooler.

Isaac's really done it now - offered himself up as security to who he assumes is a spoiled superstar diva, Aurelia. But what happens when he realizes the much younger (15 years) diva isn't really a diva, but a strong and sassy sweetheart who is nothing like the vain, shallow older women he normally associates himself with? Will the damage his past has done to him make a relationship impossible with vibrant Aurelia?

Aurelia's residency at Starling Key is just what she needs to get her life together. She knows her life is being controlled, and she's tired of it. When gorgeous, commanding Isaac inserts himself into her life as her security, she never expected he'd end up being so important to her. But she knows she's nothing like the older socialites he usually hangs out with, so how can she possibly hope to compete?

Oh boy but Isaac was a tortured soul. I wanted to yell at him more than once for letting all his damage control his behavior, but thank God for Aurelia. She was a breath of fresh air, and just perfect for giving him the nudge he needed to get himself together. Their story is seriously delicious, intriguing and suspenseful, and I loved this age gap couple. Now I can't wait for the next Starling Key couple to find love.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.

Isaac is a genius at numbers. He prefers to date older mature woman with no expectations of commitment. When Aurelia arrives he expects a spoiled superstar.
Aurelia us young, beautiful, sassy and not the spoiled diva.
This story has a little bit of everything. Age gap, great characters, some drama/angst and heat. Isaac is the type of character that is frustratingly lovable. He has some demons and sometimes let’s them take over him. At first we think Aurelia is a puppet but she gains strength and takes a stand. Both characters develop well.
    Nice add to the series.

Oh my god! I love this series, so so much! The Banker is Isaac’s story and it’s so so good!

This was an age gap romance, which is definitely my jam. Isaac has my entire heart and I just loved him so much! Isaac and his ways have always held my interest, going after the married women who don’t want his commitment. It was amazing to see his story play out and why he is the way he is. His growth as a character was really special to read. Isaac and Aurelia made this such a great read, the tension was palpable! Aurelia is incredible and by the end I was just in awe of her. I was on the edge of my seat, hoping for Aurelia’s life to work out and her to stand up to her family. It was just incredible.

The plot was five stars, definitely. Aurelia’s character just intrigued me so much. then add in Isaac and all his manliness and the tension?! I couldn’t put this down. I loved seeing all the characters from the first two books. This can be read as a standalone, but I think readers will definitely get more from the story if the first two books are read first.

I didn't care of Isaac's ways thru most of the book but he turned it around. Aurelia is a great character and I love how she takes back her life at the end. Watching these two find their way was worth the read.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

I'm loving this interconnected series of Sterling Key.

This story I think may be my favorite of the series. The age gap, the security guard forbidden romance, the angst, the will they won't they, will they figure it all out and work it out, was so good!

This was a delicious read with lots of feels and some steam and some mystery in it too. It's the perfect vacation read for this summer.

I do recommend reading the books in order even though they can be read as stand alone, it brings more to the experience knowing the other characters stories. You do get some back ground of them but I think its better to know all of it.

Another great story from January James. The books in the Starling Key series just keep getting better. The characters are wonderful and the pages practically turn themselves. January James has a way with writing characters that you become invested in them from the first meeting. One of the things I enjoy most about this series is getting to see how our favorite Starling Key residents lives are going at the same time we are seeing the current MC developing story. I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This series is just getting better and better. It was good to get to know Isaac better and get to know his history. I liked him but I think Carter is still my fave. I really liked Aurelia and her friendship with her best friends. I think Aurelia were perfect for Isaac even he couldn't see it for awhile. Can't wait to read next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Return to Starling Key for another gripping romance

As a general rule I'm not into age gap tropes, however, January James has made this one well worth reading. I really enjoyed Isaac and Aurelia's story, particularly as Aurelia was such a strong character with a backbone and integrity. Isaac also had to face a lot of his own demons, and his character was explored really well. I love Starling Key - it feels just like a real place and one where I would love to holiday one day, if I was rich enough to afford a luxury villa! All the characters feel so familiar and it is always good to follow their individual storylines. Can't wait for Autumn and Luca now!
