While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling downstairs), and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) ☆☆☆So much love for Matteo & Evie!!☆☆☆ Y'all, this book is SOOOO GOOD!! Melanie Moreland is my second new to me Author this week, and I swear I've hit the jackpot!! All the romantic suspense I love, some super HOT SEXY scenes, and a relationship so strong between Matteo and Evie that it brought me to tears! Matteo is The Boss of his outfit, and even though his character is dark, he's doing it for all the right reasons. I loved his gruffness with his men, his vulnerability with Evie, and his family, and his Alpha tendencies. Just the BEST kind of man! Evie, well, I honestly thought I wasn't going to like her, but she is almost perfection! So strong in setting her boundaries, and asking for what she needs even at the very beginning, and by the end I was completely enthralled! I loved her strength in all of it, especially in teaching Matteo what real love needs to look like. The suspense is on fire throughout this book, how much what Matteo has to see in his every day life is affecting him, and the spicy scenes, hot damn!! Melanie Moreland made me a fan with The Boss, and I'll be working my way through her back catalogue shortly! I can't WAIT to see what she has planned in Second-In-Command!! 5/5 ⭐'s 7/5 🌶's

    After first three chapters you have to ask- is this Ms.Moreland book? Because it is so dark so far, but still it is so good you have to go on and then boom! yes! you know it is her book.

    Evie became very fast favourite heroin, she has lost everything in her life, but still has the will to survive. Only to spot The Man to take the lifes and now she has to decide- die or take the chance to survive by marrying Him - The Boss - Matteo.

    Soon Matteo shows her his other side, the carrying one, rrady to protect her and his family and maybe being able to love. But the other side- fighting the evil enemies to protect enemies is winnig so far and destoys him step by step.

    So now Evie has to become more stronger then ever, to not only learn to live in new surroundings, with new family, but she has to fight strong to be the light Matteo needs to survive and have his own HEA with Evie.

    This story is maybe a little darker but the love and passion are predominant and will take you on another beautiful romantic journey.

    This was my second re-read of this book and can say I enyojed it again very much. Ms. Moreland is really good at writting sweet and same way darker- morally grey characters and this way she makes you escape in her world when you need some rest from your real life.
    I did listen to the audio too and it was again a better experience because of John and Maxine great job.

    I’ve been meaning to read this series for the longest time. I’m not sure why it took me so long to pick it up, but I had 9 hours waiting for a flight and then 8 on the flight so I decided to start reading it. I knew it would engross me as I enjoy Ms Moreland’s writing.

    If you’re after a contemporary with a dash of suspense, this is it. I wouldn’t call it full on romantic suspense because it’s more focused on Matteo and Evie’s relationship even if Matteo and his men lead a dangerous life and that dangerous life is reinforced over and over during the book as Evie struggles with her new life.

    Matteo has two sides to him. The dark intense boss of Hidden Justice and Evie’s Matteo. The Boss is dark, dangerous, unforgiving, and meting out justice with swift violence. Evie’s Matteo is tender, sweet, and protective. I love both sides of him.

    The way Matteo and Evie struggled getting to know each other and finding their way in their relationship given how they met and got together was believable even if it’s the stuff of fantasies. There are clashes, conflicts, and fireworks. And make up sexy times. Hot, hot make up sexy times.

    I love the way the book started with Evie running for her life, meeting Matteo and having everything change in an instant. Her courage and goodness shone through even in those early desperate moments. And while Evie might have been a victim, she’s also strong, smart, and resourceful.

    Matteo is so intense and so protective of Evie. It borders on obsessive but I also understand where he is coming from given his job and the life he leads. It is fraught with danger and uncertainty, and after a while, that life takes its toll on a person. And the very danger he so vigilantly protected against comes knocking.

    One thing that Ms Moreland does well is emotion. I love the emotions her characters convey and Matteo and Evie are no different. Their feelings are real and believable. Their conflicts too, as are their hopes and dreams. Her characters are well developed and I love that I can sink into them, getting to know them intimately and feeling like they are friends.

    After reading this book, I still had an 8 hour flight to go so I dived right into Second-In-Command.

    For some reason, when I picked this up, I thought Boss was regarding a CEO-type. I was excited to see that it was actually of the mafia variety. But even with that, it wasn't what I needed it to be. He was too soft, and it all just fell flat for me. There were a couple of side characters that I might be interested in reading about, but none that make me want to immediately dive in.

    The Boss was absolutely perfect for me. It had just the right amount of suspense with all the feel good InstaLust/InstaLove goodness you expect from a Melanie Moreland romance.

    Matteo is a possessive alpha hero and Evie a strong heroine. Together they are mesmerizing. I fell hard for Matteo and everything he stood for and Evie proved to be exactly what was needed to complete this incredible man.
