I wrote this book as a way of self healing and to put some of my own demons to bed. Childhood trauma, abuse and issues relating to sexual abuse have always been something I had a lot to do with in my lifetime, I am a supporter and avid contributor to organisations who promote healing from all of the above. I based my character of Emma on a survivor, a strong female lead,  and the Carrero series really showcases strong women who have overcome a messy childhood by using various coping mechanisms while still on that journey to healing.

    I found this series on AnyStories and after shamelessly spending a small fortune, decided to check Amazon and was thrilled to find physical copies. I haven’t been able to put it down. I finished the Jake and Emma books in about 3-4 days because I couldn’t stop myself. The books are written so well that you feel all the emotions with the characters. The book leaves you feeling emotionally connected as if you personally knew these people. I need a few days to recover from the absolute rollercoaster of events but I will definitely read this again and again.

    I really can’t wait to see what comes next for Emma and Jake.
    I stopped reading romance novels a long time ago because I tend plunge myself into the characters. I feel what they feel but this book goes further than that. I actually cried a couple times while reading. After finishing last night, I woke up feeling depressed because the book was over and the ending was unexpected. Thankfully, there are two more. (Again, I can’t wait to see what is next.)
    Excellent character development- If you sympathize with characters in the books you read, you are in for a treat. Both characters felt like they could be friends that you want to hug and smack at the same time.
    I finished this book in less than 8 hours. To say it is a page-turner would not be a lie.

    I have enjoyed this book so much but I will tell you that you will be on a rollercoaster ride all the way though. There are times I want to slap Emma across the face and say wake up and there ard time I am mad at Jake for being to sweet to her. The play between this two is great you can see yourself in their lifes.

    Jake and Emma's love story is beautifully written. Emma is Jake's assistant and she doesn't want to fall for him but she just can't help it. Jake is a playboy but hard working and a nice guy you just can't help liking him. Emma has some baggage from her childhood so she is afraid of commitment. The book is very well written and a page turner. Warning there is a cliff hanger but the good news is the next 2 books are already out. One of my favorite reads ever. Definitely check out this author!

Very likeable characters and story that isn't only about love or lust, but about so much more. About how much past affects us, how much we can fight it but if we don't deal with it in the right way, it will find its way back. And the ending. It just left me staring into my kindle at the last words trying to decide what to do with my life now. Well with one click I bought the second book as I couldn't face just leaving them just yet.
