The Enemy: A Forbidden Romance (Haven Grace Prep) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,200 ratings

Kensington Bradwell doesn't get told no often.

Not when he built an empire from the ground up.

Not when he became the most powerful man in North Haven.

And definitely not when he met my mother.

A picture-perfect relationship,

a happy family,

and twenty years of marriage—

all thrown away for a man with no morals.

Tearing him down won't be easy,

but I won't stop until his empire is in flames.

For my sister. For my father. For me.

I need to find a way to break him.

Lucky for me, the answer just fell into my lap.

Daddy's little princess may be innocent in all of this,

but Lennon's about to get caught in the crossfire of revenge.

5 big STARS!

5 big STARS!
Well, it's not new to you that I just fell in love with this writer! 😱😱😱 For those who know me, my definition of a perfect book is a book that "squeezed my organs" What does It mean? That when I read a book and I feel that something inside me (usually it is the heart ...) moves. It tells me it's just that. 💥💥💥 And like, nothing else will ruin this book for me. I started this book towards 23:00 at night and found myself reading until 3:00 in the morning. And tell me, is there anything better than that? To get carried away with a book that just breaks, smashes, and is so good that you tell yourself that during the week you will read only one chapter! Yes, I did it. The writing here by Kelsey was so perfect! The plot here flowed so well for me. I fell in love so much, got so emotional 💔, and laughed so much 🤣, and just, I enjoyed it. Go read It right now🏃🏽‍♂️ The story this time is about Lennon. We knew her in the first book (The Sinner) as Savannah's dance companion, and we knew her better in the third book (The Rebel) as Tessa's best friend. Honestly, her character really surprised me . In the rest of the books she looked like a ‘nerdy’ ‘quiet’ woman, kind of an ‘ice queen’. But she really is not! She completely surprised me , so much so that I was saying to myself, is that really you? This is not another character? Kelsey did a great job here! 👑 "𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞. 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞." 👑 Lennon, she's an only child . her father takes care of everything for her. and is the only family she has. And when she finds out that her father is in love with a woman. And he plans to bring her home. She did not know that this woman was coming with two more children. 😱🔥 But, when she first meets Cade. He's cold to her. He's not 'nice' to her. He is such a bad boy... 😈 🏄‍♂️ "𝐌𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐈 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞. 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞. 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥. 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞." 🏄‍♂️ Cade, is a professional surfer. Love the sea. He knows the ocean as if it were the palm of his hand. But when he finds out his parents are divorcing and they are moving somewhere else. He will do everything to destroy the new package, and return the old one. But, he needs help. And he turns to Lennon. Their scenes together, just moved me, broke me, made me laugh, even made me scream (heck just sleep together already with all this sexual tension !!!!!). And until it comes... Ahhhhh🔥🔥 The connection between the characters was so special that Wow, I already miss them so much . And there is a chance I will read the book (and I so gonna do It). When Lennon realizes that he wants to destroy her family. She's not ready for that to happen, and she is not gonna let that happen. she hates him. And he of course... hates her. 💙 "𝐒𝐡𝐞'𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬. 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐥. 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐲." 💙 Their quarrels, the mystery here. Exposing emotions in such a ‘slow’ and beautiful way was just what I neede. I felt like I , as a reader had gone through their journey with them. But, can the love of stepbrothers really work? (I'm at 93% of the book, and did not know what's going to happen. My Kindle is broken... again! 🙊) Can hatred really become love? Or rather... to something else, to something purer. In conclusion, I really really liked the book. For me, I can go and read it again right now. I did not sleep at night, I said to myself 'one more chapter and we are done for today' but it did not happen. For the first time I was really scared that this book would end and I did not want It to. There's an unusual story here. A story that moved me, surprised me, and even played on my mind. other thing... Kelsey, you owe me hours of sleep! 🤪

This was one of the best enemies to lovers stories I have read in a long while. The angst between the characters was so immense, the tension so thick you’d need a machete to cut through it. I loved every minute of it.

The two lead characters, Cade and Lennon, were so antagonistic towards each other from their first meeting. The situation they found themselves in only exacerbated the tension, in all ways. I have to say I liked Lennon in book three, The Rebel, and it was great getting to know her better in this book, seeing her stand up for herself and fight for what she believes is right. Cade, being a new character was intriguing, he was very arrogant and confident, as many young adult males are, yet the bottom of his world literally was pulled away from him and his vulnerabilities caused him to do some crazy things. I really did feel for him and for his sister Molly, not to mention his father. So, while I didn’t always like how he reacted I did understand and sympathise.

What I liked was the idea of Cade and Lennon as a couple, even though I thought it would never happen! It’s close to a taboo, stepsister story yet it isn’t really and although they identify that that fact is a possibility it isn’t sleazy in any way. Their chemistry was sizzling until it became scorching hot. This rocky relationship had more pitfalls than any popular electronic game but also added to the excitement of the story.

Great descriptions of the settings, especially the beach scenes which were fantastic and the characters and their feelings, had you completely embedded in the story, as well as emotionally entangled too. I honestly wanted to shake a few characters until their teeth rattled I became so annoyed and/or disappointed with them. 😆

This young adult love story shows huge growth in the characters and even a couple of older adults too. I totally recommend it and the whole series to everyone, I wasn’t a huge fan of young adult stories but this series is sensational.

I’m on the fence with this book. First off I really loved Lennon and Cade. I thought these character were interesting and I loved their banter. Now while I really liked them, I felt as if the author really wrote them to be extremely childish in certain scenes which was hard if you compare the other three books.

However the thing I was most disappointed with is I really thought Lennon and Colby would’ve ended up together. Just because of the way they acted in book 3. Second I felt this book lacked a serious romantic connection between Cade and Lennon. Don’t get me wrong, I would have to say Cade and Lennon were my second favorite couple but it felt like their story line was a little childish compared to the last three books. Plus I felt like the book was rushed and I wanted more time to see Cade and Lennon develop their relationship.

I think overall my rating is between a 3.5-4.0

I started this series with Clayton as a new ro me author, and ending this series with her being a top 1-click author!

This whole series has kept me anticipating each book. Every book delivered a heart stopping, drama filled, angsty love that reminds me why I love the Y/A genre.

Lennon has a been a great friend to Tessa and now needs all the support she can get when her dad moves in a new girlfriend and her son, Cade. Cade has a chip on his shoulder the size of California and decides to use Lennon to get what he wants no matter the cost.

Lennon, like all of Clayton's female charcters, is strong, fierce, and independent. She has goals that no one is going to interfere with, especially arrogant boys. There is a strong spark of attraction that keeps these two coming back for more even if they don't want it. Together these two embark on a summer that no one will forget!

**The words use shouldn’t personally reflect on the author or any other of her series and books.**

This was going so well, like no lie I was thinking so far my favorite in this series and it’s a four stars. I like that she didn’t like the guy or fell for him right away like most did on this series. I was thinking she is a badass chick who won’t fall for him right away but guess what I was wrooong. Also the author has a thing for the virgin girls giving B.J’s as their “I’m not pure anymore” fase! The lead girl stay a virgin so the lead guy can pop the cherry, meanwhile the guy fu@@@ everything in site! But I don’t learn I didn’t like Nessa and her cheating ways I went thru things that she did and I don’t use that as an excuse to be the way she is and did the things she did, Delaney the shy virginal girl with zero experience with men who would get on her knees to su@@ a guy p@@@@ like it meant nothing.

One thing Why Not Colby? He was a player who could of change and he was a man not a boy!

The previous books were a three stars for me. Serie of Guys who degrade the female leads. Like I will never understand why girl authors who should be writing about bad ass chicks who won’t fall for just a beautiful exterior and if they do at least make the guys work for it! You know With Girl Power and all, With Girls should be pro girls!
Like Why do the girls have to open her legs right way?! Why can’t the guy suffer?

I hate leaving negative reviews but I think it shouldn’t stop me from posting it specially if I do it for myself if I bump into this book, I check and I notice I read it and what I thought about it.

I've loved every book in this series but I really really enjoyed this story. The push and pull of Lennon and Cade's story just sucked me in. Lennon and Cade have some serious chemistry. The sex scenes just about set the book on fire. I also enjoyed the culmination of the whole series and how well it wrapped up. I would have liked to see a little more ambition from Lennon post college education but she's young and in love. After reading this series I'm a life long Kelsey Clayton fan!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

    :::

This series has been one of my favorites. The first two books wow! The third one, I didn’t feel like reading it but did and really liked it. And this one, I thought it was going to be super captivating and it was just ok.

Well written as always with Kels, but I felt the story a little bit forced. I liked Lennon better in the third book and Cade was a prick through and through.
    Nevertheless, it was ok.

Ahhhh I LOVED THIS!!! Another forbidden romance trope with step siblings but again, told so well! I loved the angst and the push and pull between Lennon & Cade! The sexual tension was just something else and when they finally gave in... 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I have loved this series so much! It had everything I love! I think I’m going to have to read Hendrix now as Colby was one of my favourite side characters of these books and I’d love to read his story! If you haven’t read these books, I can’t recommend them enough!

Once I started The Enemy, I wasn't able to put it down, instantly hooked and hanging on to every word as if it were my only lifeline.

I was blown away by Lennon, seeing a fiery, take no crap side of her that I didn't expect. I loved that she was still the same gentle, loving Lennon from the previous books while being fierce in her attempt to remain strong under Cade's scrutiny and the weight of her life struggles.
Ahhhh Cade, the ever broody, vengeful and drop dead sexy surfer 😍 Cade's character brought so much steam and tension to the story in all the best ways! Hot, forbidden surfer dude? I think yes 😍😍

And don't even get me started on the amazing -as always- character that is the great, Colby Hendrix. Holy hell, fan me down now 😍🥵 the man who single-handedly raises the stakes for men in and out of the fictional world! I can't wait to free up enough time to dive in to his book! 😍😍🤤

Hot damn, what an opening to a book! Shame the guy she was dreaming about is a douchebag.... This book is good, it's angsty and keeps you reading. Female lead is a little weaker than I normally like, she just forgives too easily. However in saying that if she held a grudge I might not like than either 😉. I also secretly wished she ended up with someone else... The book was good though I read it in under 24hours cause I needed to know the ending. I loved that the author switched from the two lead characters points of view without doubling up. I love that it was fast paced and not dragged out. This was my first read of this author and I will for sure be reading more.
