The Final Play (The Summerville Sports Series Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 887 ratings

The Final Play isn’t always the end. Sometimes, it’s the beginning of something far more beautiful.

As a professional linebacker, I lived and breathed football.

The only thing I loved as much as the game was my twin brother, Max, who kept me almost as busy cleaning up his messes.

The most recent of which landed him behind bars.

So, it shouldn’t have surprised me when a beautiful woman showed up on my doorstep, claiming to be pregnant with Max’s baby.

Glory was unexpected, infuriating, and flat-out crazy most of the time.

But no matter how hard I tried to deny it, that tiny spitfire slammed into my boring life with the strength of a Category 5 hurricane, blowing through my defenses until she’d carved her name in my heart—permanently.

I feared we would never work. She was a single mom, my brother’s ex, and one more chance for me to fail yet another person I loved.

But if football was my church, then Glory was my heaven.

"This one is laugh-out-loud funny, sweet and heartfelt (made me cry, dang it!), and holy hades H O T! Seriously, turn on the AC and get ready for a very dırty-talking Mason (if you're unnerved by the C word, here's your warning). Mason is my favorite fictional sports hero ever, and I know you'll love every bit of this evocatiıve, exhilarating, extraordinary read!"

A wonderful, light, feel-good sports romance
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 STEAM: 🔥🔥.5 Mason and Max were thick as thieves when they were younger until an accident took their parents from them. While Mason threw himself into football, Max was not as focused, his last stunt landing him behind bars for a couple of years. While Mason was stewing in his guilt, an unexpected visitor in the form of Glory Tolson comes knocking at his door. She is looking for Max because she is 8 months pregnant with Max's son. These two did not start off on the right foot, but Glory had no other place to go and Mason had no other family. She ends up staying at his place, but for how long? Can they keep the simmering attraction for each other at bay? This was a wonderful, light, feel-good read. Mason and Glory may have started on the wrong foot, but both have good hearts. Mason is a big cinnamon roll who only wants to protect and take care of everyone he cares for. While he is wary of being taken advantage of, he reads people well and sees the good in Glory. Glory is independent and sassy. She keeps Mason on his toes, and I love that she wants to do things on her own. Her instant camaraderie with Scarlett and Hazel was just cute. Their connection is just absolute fire. Even their bickering carries a palpable tension. This is a slow-burn read, but did Amie Knight make it worth the wait? The answer is an absolute YES. I know sports romance stories can be a dime a dozen, but this read stood out a lot to me for all of the right reasons. It is in the middle of a series, but I was new and I never felt lost or overwhelmed. Amie Knight did a great job in providing adequate background to get newbies up to speed.

Sometimes death has an opposite impact on identical twins. This is the story focused on one of the twins, the one becoming who his dad wanted him to be, but beginning to age out of being that person. It is very interesting how he ends up being the one to care for and fall in love with his twins baby mama. There is sex, but it is done well, no need to skip. There is some real drama that is well written. This will tug at your heart strings. It has a really nice surprise ending, too.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love this series more, Ms. Knight writes The Final Play and blows that thought all to hell. The feistiness of Glory (who was raised in the foster system and came through shining on the better side) and the stubbornness of Mason (tragically left alone with his twin at a young age and an instinctual caregiver) makes this book such a page turner. The banter between them is ridiculously funny and the sexual tension is completely off the charts! This book is sweet, sassy and sexy all rolled into one. It’s moved to the top of my most favorites of Amie Knight’s!

Perfection. This book was absolutely the perfect romance. Amie Knight went all out for The Final Play and she could not have done it any better. Mason and Glory are slow burn perfection. Mason and Glory give you laughs, tears and so many swoons. You fall in love with these two and you can’t help but keep flipping the pages to see how it ends.

    Highly recommended!

This book was so overwhelming but in a good way. My heart broke for Mason and Max and Glory too who didn't have easy childhoods. This author will take you on an emotional journey of loss, love and strength. Be ready for the ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars what a book to start with 😍😍
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 3, 2022
This was my first book by this author and what a book it was to start with, I will definitely be reading the others.
This book is so fun, emotional, ANGST FOR DAYS and so beautifully written. I love it.

Our leads are Mason and Glory, their relationship doesn’t start off smoothly at all, instead dislike and bad attitude towards each other. Of course what can you expect when an NFL superstar has a pregnant stranger on his doorstep.

Glory is my kind of girl! She may be 7 months pregnant but she is not going to take any crap, she’s a fighter with a whole lot of sass! She’s tiny but mighty. Beautiful inside and out. Ready to take on the world on her own for the sake of her baby no matter how had that seems right now. A fling with Mason’s brother left her with more than just the memories.. she’s looking for max only to find his sometimes alpha-hole brother.

Mason is kindhearted but sheltered, doesn’t let many people in, would move mountains for his twin brother even when he doesn’t want him to. He is handsome, strong, sarcastic and holy hotness! When Glory shows up at his door he insults her, chases her, literally drags her back to his house like the caveman he can be and is cursing his brother for yet another mess he has to deal with.

Their chemistry is off the charts!
It’s kind of forbidden and complicated.
It’s passionate and hot, filled with angst.
Can they be anything more than the brother and the pregnant baby mamma?
Can they fight their attraction because of how they meet?

The banter, the secondary characters, everything about it really I just loved!
    Highly recommend!

I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book as sports in general has never been my jam, but thankfully this book had me from the start and I couldn’t put it down.

Mason has done everything to help his twin brother out of every tough spot he’s put himself into. But enough is enough and the line needs to be somewhere, however he’s second guessing the timing when a pregnant Glory shows up claiming his brother has a son on the way.

This book was witty, funny and genuinely made me cry.
This is an age gap 26/37

4.0 out of 5 stars Enemies-to-Lovers Romance with Sweet Football Player
Reviewed in Australia on February 16, 2022
The Final Play is a contemporary romance filled with sunshine and angst in equal amounts coming together to make a heartwarming book about love, fate and second chances in life. A sports romance, featuring an NFL player at the twilight of his game and a pregnant woman looking for his twin brother, who unfortunately has just been sent to jail.

The Final Play is about the twist of fate that occurs when two people whose lives were not meant to intersect in this manner meet and sparks explode, but unfortunately in negative way in a not so meet cute. I thought Mason and Glory’s first meeting was so well written and set the scene for what was to come between them. This book was dotted with laugh out loud moments to which I could totally relate. I loved Glory’s fire but also her vulnerability and caring nature when it came to Mason and his friends. Mason, once Glory breached his defenses, was such an amazing cinnamon roll hero, and I was totally there for that. I thought that Amie Knight managed all of the relationships between the characters, including Maxim, really well and that they were beautifully written.

The Final Play is one of those romances that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside by the time you reach the happily ever after. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it for lovers of second chances, enemies-to-lovers, sport romance and love that follows fate.
