USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Jewel E. Ann returns with an addictive new adult romance about a young woman who discovers years of Sunday sermons didn’t prepare her for the many lessons of the crude and sexy man who is now her boss.

It's official.

I'm eighteen and a young woman with endless possibilities on my way to reunite with my mom in Colorado after five years apart—she had a little weed incident in Nebraska.

At the airport, she springs the news on me ... she's leaving for a month of job training. And me? I'm left on my own in the basement she's renting from the fisherman, aka her landlord who lives upstairs.

He's ten years older than me. Never wears a shirt. And makes it hard to remember all the things I learned at Christian Academy.

Did I mention he’s also my new boss?

    The Naked Fisherman
I loved this book so much!! After a 5 year separation from her mother, Reece decides to visit her when she is released from prison. She had been living with her ultra conservative, Christian grandparents while her mother was away and after the passing of her father. While staying with her mother in a rented basement, she meets homeowner Fisher Mann. Her mother and Fischer don’t quite share Reece’s conservative views but sparks definitely fly between her and Fischer.

I wasn’t sure how this book was going to play out and if all Christian’s were going to be portrayed negatively, but I loved seeing the evolution of Reece’s struggles and genuine feelings that came into play. There are many elements I love, including an gap relationship, coming of age story telling, and just enough angst to tug at you heart. The next book can’t come soon enough!

    The Lost Fisherman

Both books are favorites this year! In the Naked Fisherman, Reece is 18, fresh out of Christian school and has been raised by ultra conservative grandparents. Five years have past in The Lost Fisherman and Reece has completed a mission trip to Thailand, received a nursing degree, and has a new outlook on life. She has matured and kept her distance from forbidden Fisher, while always allowing a place for him in her heart. Events lead her back to Denver where it all started, and the plot twists are handled in the best way! I stayed up all night to read this book and the book hangover was the best!

    Majestic, unputdownable, epic!
My heart, my heart was broken, annihilated and totally trampled on at this series, barely surviving It, I feel like I've been riding a rollercoaster that doesn't stop, so many emotions, so much pain, so much love! I’m speechless, it is so absolutely beautiful.

The author's writing style is always so amazing and manages to evoke so many intense emotions in me, the way she describes the love that Fisher and Reese have for each other is beyond perfect, their scenes so full of angsty, feelings and love have no comparison, their hearts are in tune and their souls recognize each other and stay connected, they are destiny, their unique love, a love that transcends time and distance, that surpasses all obstacles is UNIQUE, I'm so obsessed with this book, I want to reread it and reread it and live in this world forever!

In short, I enjoyed the storyline and the characters.
    1. Are the characters perfect? No.
    2. Were some parts a little icky? Yes.
    3. Was it more enjoyable to read AND understand with MMCs POV sprinkled in there? Absofuckinglutely.
    4. Is there a HEA? Yes, sir.
    5. Was it stressful getting there? Without a doubt.

FYI, this is not a book about a fisherman.

    -------------

Don't waste your time or do on my nonsense below. It's the hot mess express and more about me and my mental state during this book. You might giggle, maybe. You can't get your time back if you read my Muckery 😘.

    My emotional rollercoaster:

Three books for a two book series? Is it normal for authors to combine two books into one book and add in the MMCs POV but not add it into the two separate books? ANDDD not put the MMC POV in order but in the back of the book? I bet that was confusing!

Book titles to clear up (my) confusion -
The Naked Fisherman - Book one of the duet, no MMC POV
The Lost Fisherman - Book two of duet, no MMC POV
The Fisherman Series : Special Edition - Book one and two combined with MMC POV at the end of both book sections.

I have more questions than answers (about myself):
    1. Is it worth it to continue? Possibly
    2. Will I contine? Yes
    3. Am I going to continue to be confused? Most likely
    4. Am I smart enough to untangle this catastrophe? (We haven't even gotten to my opinions on the book) We'll see

I had to google when the brain is fully developed so that I choose an age gaps after the youngest has already reached that age range.

My opinions on the duet thus far:

Is the FMC naive, sheltered, conditioned into beliefs that aren't her own making? Yes, she is. She's 18 years old, had a sheltered life with her grandparents where she wasn't afforded the luxury of thinking for herself and out on her own (kind of) for the first time in her life with no direction. Are some of her beliefs skewered? Absolutely, however, I feel some forget (reviews I read) that the first book is in a span of weeks maybe a month or two and it's going to take time for her to reconcile that her thought process may not be accurate and will take time for her to change her opinion. It doesn't happen overnight.

Is the MMC aloof, cruel, dishonest, genuine? Yes and no. It's hard to gage him without his POV. We are getting what the FMC is experiencing from him. I have a hard time believing his feelings for the FMC. A part of me feels like he does love her but, another part of me feels like he's just playing a game with her. (This is why I gravitate to dual POV books. [I have trust issues])

FYI, I haven't finished the second book (3rd book?) or the MMC POV yet. I'm just getting my thoughts out as I'm going because I tend to have a squirrel living in my brain just eating away all my brain cells. Ugh.

Are you wondering how I make it through life day in and day out? Samesies! I think my husband is keeping me alive.

Okay, so book one (but in book 3 [The Fisherman Series]) I finished MMCS POV. Definitely gave insight into his feelings. They start off typical. Man wants a play thing, rile her up and make her a bit messy and bounce (this is short-lived). He starts developing feelings for her that turns into love. However, he will not be the reason she doesn't experience life and wants her to find her purpose. Timing just wasn't right for them.

Book two, the MMC ends up with amnesia and doesn't remember the FMC or his fiance. FMC let's him fall in love with her naturally without obscuring his memory while the fiance trys to tell him about their past and how they were in love, Yada Yada. This is only more confusing for him. There's a little plot twist regarding the MMC and his fiance, HEA, the end.

    It's all subjective, really.

This first love, coming into adulthood story of sheltered catholic Reese was amazing.
It had emotion, great sexual tension, great dialogue and life leassons. Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I came back for Fisher's POV
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 8, 2023
    And oh my heart!
    Thank you JEA!
After finishing the duet, I was obsessing over the books and then I found out about this special edition and my heart couldn't take it! Perfection!
I just wish we had read Fisher's POV at Target too. Because to me, there is where he started to fall in love with her again... So I would have liked to see how that was for him. But still, even without it, every single extra chapter was a present.
I'm so happy I went back to this duet!
In my first try I had put it aside because I couldn't handle another virgin heroine and man whore hero... And a heroine who had been brainwashed by religion? I could not take it! Literally couldn't! And even though I LOVE Jewel E Ann, I couldn't stomach religious brain washing... But then I finished If This Is Love and I was in a Jewel E Ann hangover and as I had read all her other books I decided to give this duet another chance. And I'm so bloody happy I did!
Without spoilers, I'm happy of heroine's growth and even more their second chance - particularly the trope (so beautifully) used!
Please read this book, it's worthy of every minute of your life you have to dedicate to it. And if like me, you are done with the virgin trope as well, I ask you to still give this book a chance. It's not what you expect. It's better, WAY BETTER!
