4.3 out of 5 stars 615 ratings

Aunt Penny's beach house isn't the only thing getting flipped in this hilarious romantic comedy!

Andrew and Sonnet hated each other in high school. Always rivals for the best grades and top academic honors, there was no love lost between these two nerds after graduation.

Ten years later, they're both named heirs to property in coastal Delaware after the passing of its owner, Penelope Vaughn, who was Andrew's great aunt and Sonnet's beloved next door neighbor growing up. The quaint beach cottage needs serious work before going on the market. Andrew and Sonnet are both willing to bury the hatchet in exchange for drills and saws, especially since they stand to make a pretty penny with the beachfront property, which will finance Drew's dream of opening a business and Sonnet's plan to earn her doctorate in astrophysics.

But when they face a multitude of home improvement obstacles, will these two former adversaries be able to pull off a successful flip? Or did Great Aunt Penny have something else in mind all along?

If you love The Money Pit or all those HGTV shows about house flipping, you will LOVE this hilarious romantic comedy. One-click today!

The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth Book 2)
    By: K.L. Montgomery
    5 out of 5 stars

The story The Flip (Romance in Rehoboth Book 2) by K.L. Montgomery is a contemporary romantic comedy book. This is the story of Andrew and Sonnet. These two have always been rivals. Their dislike for each other runs deep so it is quite a shock when they both are named co-heirs to property from a woman they both remember with great fondness. While they agree to be civil to each other while they are flipping the property, they soon find that there will have to be major repairs done in order for it to be sold. This will take time and they will be working together a lot. Will they be able to keep the truce that they agreed on? As time goes by they begin to talk to each other about their lives and their hopes for the future. Even though they were once rivals, will they start to see each other in a different way?

This is an amazing book by an amazing author. She has written a story that will touch your heart and will have you quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. The sarcasm and bantering back and forth between Andrew and Sonnet is hilarious. I have read one other story by the author and have enjoyed the characters that she created. I came to think of them as friends. I love the character of Sonnet. She is a sassy, independent woman who can hold her own. When she was younger she was driven to succeed and was very competitive about it. This leads to her rivalry with Andrew. Sonnet always believed that she always had to work harder than Andrew for her success. There was one person she could always turn to for advice and the courage to push forward. Now with her passing, Sonnet begins to remember all of the encouragement that she received. As time goes by she begins to see a different side of Andrew. With her feelings towards Andrew changing what does the future hold for both Andrew and Sonnet?

Andrew is quite surprised when he sees Sonnet again. She doesn’t look at all like the girl that he remembered from school. As they begin to work on the property and also to talk it becomes clear that his feelings toward Sonnet begin to change. Andrew is falling for her. They both have dreams for the future and the money they make from flipping this property will take them one step closer to those dreams. What will happen when the property goes on the market? Will they walk away from each other? Why did Penelope Vaughn really leave Andrew and Sonnet her property? Read this book to find out how what happens between Andrew and Sonnet. This is one book that you don’t want to miss out on.

This is a cute and clean story about two small towners who competed against each other academically all though grammar and high school … and he made her the brunt of many jokes in vengeance for her successes. Their ‘aunt Penny’ have left them co-owners of her run down house. She is a NASA scientist and he is a lazy bartender. It is long and very detailed. You’ll get to know the people on their street really well. I had significant credibility problems with several parts of it. I did set that aside and enjoy the humor. Just ran long.

Andrew's great-aunt has left him a house, well half of a house. He has to share it with his childhood nemesis, Sonnet, and they plan to fix it up and sell it. From 8 years old and up, these two competed against each other in everything from a spelling bee to who is chosen to be class valedictorian. For years, Sonnet has been picked on mercilessly by Andrew and she is not looking forward to a summer spent working on the house with him. He's probably just the same mean jock he was in high school. And as far as Andrew is concerned, Sonnet is probably still the same chubby girl with coke bottle glasses. Imagine their surprise when they see each other after so many years. As time passes working on the house, the two are surprised at how much the other has changed, and a companionable friendship evolves. Perhaps Great Aunt Penny knew what she was thinking when she left these two her house.
The Flip was a lot of fun to read, I loved the banter between the two of them and I loved the tension. I appreciated the fact that Sonnet is a leader in her field of Engineering and Astrophysics, and that she wants to share her love of Sciences with kids. It was nice watching the change in Andrew as Sonnet made more of an impression on his life and vice versa. The Flip was a ton of fun to read between light-hearted moments, to funny moments, and the swoon-worthy moments in between.

A fun book about a pair of life long acquaintances renovating a beach house they jointly inherited. Rivals and nearly enemies when they were younger, Sonnet and Andrew are shocked that Drew's great Aunt Penny included them both in this inheritance. Granted, Drew was her favorite (possibly only) nephew and Sonnet was like a close relation to her, not just the neighbor girl. But this was a total shock.

The poor house has been empty for several years, and is in desperate need of major repairs and clean out before it will ever be sellable. With about two months as their goal, they begin working on the renovation between working their jobs. Time will only tell if they actually can reach their goal and especially without hating each other more.

Interesting characters, good descriptions, and funny setbacks all add up to a fun book, especially if you have ever rehabbed a house or just done DIY projects on your own dwelling! Don't miss this delightful book!

This is the PERFECT beach and summer read!!! I really, really enjoyed this book and it is more like a 4.5 stars not just 4 stars! Our main female character Sonnet is independent, smart, super sassy, funny, and so very loveable even if she seems like an ice queen in the beginning of the book. Andrew starts off as this flighty man boy but his journey as an individual is just as inspiring as Sonnet's is. Both, Sonnet and Andrew have a beautiful, fun, and funny journey on a path of discovery of self. I loved all of the body positive topics, self love and confidence building written deep into the different layers of this positive, light, fun book. The acknowledgement was a joy and special thing to read as well.

A hilarious and endearing story sure to make you laugh. Sonnet and Andrew are likable characters who, despite being quite opposite in personality, mesh quite well. Ms. Montgomery does a wonderful job of writing a humorous and charming story that, while rooted in reality, has moments of being almost outlandish (in a very good way). You certainly wouldn't go wrong with this fun and funny read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read about moving on
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 5, 2018
A great read about moving on. When his great aunt Penny leaves him a house, Andrew Clark is excited beyond belief. But when he discovers she also left the property to his high school enemy Sonnet Jayne, he is reluctant. With an old house with several problems that need resolving to sell it, can they put the past behind them and work together?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn't put down. Well developed characters like Sonnet going after her dreams whilst standing up for herself or Drew struggling to find his way but still being hilarious. the use of opposites between their dispositions worked well and was written brilliantly.
I also loved the visual detail throughout the novel with a sense of colour in Penny's house and vases and wallpaper with small details to emphasise the strange tastes of an old lady. I also adored the natural imagery throughout the novel with the beach and the sunsets in a sense of vivid beauty of nature and especially with the storm and the lightning in colour and danger as if you were actually there. the simple setting of a house and a neighbourhood worked well and was written perfectly with the sense of a small community. Additionally, the flashbacks to high school events worked well and didn't disrupt from the narrative of the present. The use of different perspectives worked well to display both sides of events in the past and present and was easy to follow. Overall, a enjoyable read and I would give it five stars.

The Flip is the second book in the ‘Romance in Rehoboth series by K.L Montgomery. It was such a fun read, one of my favourites that Ms. Montgomery has written. It is a light-hearted read, but with just the right amount of drama and tension to really keep things interesting. This is a superb contemporary romance, with a enemies to lover aspect to the storyline. This book can be read as a standalone, even though it is the second book in the series, as the series is made up of standalone stories- where each book centres on its own particular characters/couple, but the common factor is that they all are set against the backdrop of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Having said that though, I really do recommend reading all the books- because they are wonderful stories in their own rights, and help to paint a larger picture.
Sonnet and Andrew have an interesting history. They have known each other since childhood and had developed a bitter rivalry between them. Their dislike of one another ran deep. Since graduating high school, both moved on with their lives and haven’t had any contact for the past ten years.
Now, out of the blue, they have both inherited the same beachside cottage. The house needs some work to bring it back to life and Sonnet and Andrew are at a point in their lives where they could both use an influx of cash to help them chase their dreams- so renovating the cottage and getting it sold would help accomplish this.
But can these two put aside any animosity and find a way to work together to make that happen- or will all the old feelings come bubbling to the surface? What happens when these two have to spend so much time together on their shared project? And will they survive the flip?
As I have said many times now, Ms. Montgomery is a very gifted storyteller, who is easily able to pull readers into her story and keep them connected to the storyline and characters- completely hooked from beginning to end. I love how her story depicts characters that are realistic, believable, relatable and endearing.
As with all her other books, this is really well written, with a clever and fun story that helps to make it stand out from others in the same genre.
    Bring on the next book!!!

    Thank you, Ms. Montgomery!

Andrew and Sonnet have co-inherited his Aunt Penny’s house. She holds a grudge because he played lots of tricks on her when they were kids, and he always felt she was too smart for him.

They agree to sell the house so she can go to MIT and he can start an artist’s co-operative.

As they work together, they run across a number of mishaps, and she fronts the money for all the fixes. But, she sees Andrew’s passion to set up his business, and loans him the money, as well as applying for a grant, to get him started.

He’s bowled over, and does all he can to get the house ready. They find common ground and passion, for the dreams they each have and eventually, for each other.

This is a fun story of a fix up project, lots of memories of the aunt they’ve both lost, and love that’s made to last.
