The Future Brokers: A near-future romantic eco-thriller Kindle Edition
Nothing can prepare you for a future where spies, governments and Artificial Intelligence vie for power and drive a love story like no other in The Future Brokers
It’s 2050 and George Williams considers himself a lucky man. It’s a year since he—like millions of others—was forced out of his job by Artificial Intelligence. And a year since his near-fatal accident. But now, George’s prospects are on the way up. With a state-of-the-art prosthetic arm and his sight restored, he’s head-hunted to join a secret Government department—George cannot believe his luck.
He is right not to believe it.
George’s attraction to his beautiful boss, Serena, falters when he discovers her role in his sudden good fortune, and her intention to exploit the newly-acquired abilities he’d feared were the start of a mental breakdown.
But, it turns out both George and Serena are being twitched by a greater puppet master and ultimately, they must decide whose side they’re on—those who want to combat Climate-Armageddon or the powerful leaders of the human race.

About the authors
Dawn Knox has been a finalist in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards for 2017 and 2020, Readers' Favorite Book Awards 2018 and Independent Author Network Book of the Year Award 2018. She has been writing for several years and has had success with various horror, sci-fi, quirky and romantic stories. Her first published children’s story was DAFFODIL AND THE THIN PLACE.
In 2016, she published THE GREAT WAR - 100 STORIES OF 100 WORDS, HONOURING THOSE WHO LIVED AND DIED 100 YEARS AGO, her tribute to the people who endured World War One.
Her latest book is 'THE MACAROON CHRONICLES', published by Chapeltown Books, a quirky, anthropomorphic romp in the fictitious Isle of Macaroon.
She has had a number of historical romances published, many set not far from where she lives in Essex, as well as various My Weekly Pocket Novels.
Dawn has also written two plays about the First World War, which have been performed in England, Germany and France.
THE FUTURE BROKERS is her first book writing as DN Knox with fellow author, Colin Payn.
Writing under a pen name while Colin was working gave him experience selling articles to travel magazines, and helped pay for some holidays. But he always felt that he couldn’t be a real writer until he had a novel up on the shelf over his desk, and that happened in 2016 with the publication of Dot’s Legacy, the first of The Park Trilogy. Dot's Surprise followed in 2017, but it wasn't until 2022 that Dot's Secret was published.
A flurry of projects took over Colin's writing life in the intervening years. A book of short stories, Transport of Dreams, about travelling in cars, motorhomes, planes, cycles and even just by armchair, appeared in 2018 followed by articles in magazines and invitations to appear in many anthologies.
A very unusual project took Colin and fellow writer, Dawn Knox through the 2020 Pandemic year. Living ten miles apart Colin and Dawn used every type of communication available to produce a book, The Future Brokers, set in 2050 and looking at the human reaction to global warming and the rise of Artificial Intelligence, Published in 2021 it is not so much Science Fiction, but Climate Fiction. A second book is among the latest projects.

A rare collaborative novel that really works. Blending all too human characters and current real world issues, this book holds your attention and you have to turn the page. You need to know more, but wish you didn't. So, want to find out what the future might bring? Read on.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read
I really enjoyed this book, it kept me turning the pages and was gripping to the end, with plot twists and multiple character viewpoint. Certainly had a chilling sense of ‘this could actually happen’ about the world we inhabit which was very thought provoking. More please.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fascinating Read
A fascinating and alarming vision of the affects that climate change could have on the near future and how government intransigence provokes a surprising response. Very readable.

5.0 out of 5 stars In A World Where Big Brother is Inside Your Head
This was a interesting read, and not something I would normally read. I found it to be a page turner as you followed the main characters into a cold, inhuman high-tech future, with elements of Big Brother is watching you.
A great read. I do hope Dawn and Colin will work together on future books.

5.0 out of 5 stars I almost wish it wasn't fiction
I ordered the Future Brokers in March 21 intending to keep it for our holiday and mislaid it on my Kindle and was very pleased to find it recently
The book is topical and relevant, and as the title says, I almost wish it wasn't fiction
We, as inhabitants of this world, appear to be unable to take care of our planet and it's always somebody else's responsibility, because "We're alright Jack"
If we are incapable of thinking ahead to the future of the next generations, then perhaps we do need to have worldwide decisions made for us
We have a 2 year old great grandson and we worry about the world he will inherit. A world where profit is put before people.
Bring on the benevolant A.I. who care more about our world than we do !!!!!!!
