    To say that Mel and Aiden were always just one missed connection away would be an understatement. The two met in Vegas, but the saying ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’ was something that Aiden just couldn’t stick with. However, life got in the way for both Aiden and Mel, until Aiden is dealt a devastating blow. Mel is the first person there to help him work through this,and she is determined to help him. Will luck finally be on their side, or will another hit derail them for good?

    I am so glad that we got Aiden’s story next. While reading Griff and Brooke’s story in ‘The Hardest Route’ I couldn’t help but fall a little in love with Aiden Shaw, and I needed him and Mel to get it together and get together. I wasn’t ready for all that would entail though. From page one until the very end, I was captivated, I had to know what was going to happen next for Aiden and Mel, and boy did A.S. Teague deliver on that! This story was amazingly written, and watching their romance unfold and how they overcome the obstacles that are thrown in their paths was beautiful to read. This book will have you laughing out loud, quietly crying, and everything in between. Well done, and please keep this series coming!

    This is Melanie (aka Mel) and Aiden's story, who we met in The Hardest Route.

    I really did enjoy their story, but there was just something missing for me, it could be that their journey took them almost a decade to actually get started, but I think it was that I expected more Aiden and Mel time. They officially start having one on one time once Aiden gets injured about 30% into the book and everything before that was like ships passing in the night.

    I loved their connection especially when Aiden's sons met Mel, it was just too cute and Aiden even though he acted like a buttmole most of the time, really loved his kids and his Mel. Aiden loved his tough older woman who wasn't afraid to give him the hard truth, but would never hurt him even when he was being cruel. Mel is just a great woman, she was Brooke's rock in The Hardest Route and she was even bigger support to Aiden when his life changed forever; she may be tough, but this woman hurt for her people and sometimes she wanted to give in, but she kept it together and kept pushing. Aiden and Mel didn't exactly come from the most loving families, but it formed who they are as people in the best way possible.

    I will say their first was hilarious and felt so bad for Aiden, but it is the thought that counts and Mel had no complaints.

    There is a traumatic event that takes place and my heart hurt for both Aiden and Mel because that scene...I was holding my breathe along with them, waiting to see what happened to the boys.

    The next book in the series is on Quinn.

    Melanie and Aiden’s story is a lot of first time starts. They have the kind of relationship that has been tested through time, even if time was never on their side. Mel and Aiden meet nine years ago and instantly hit it off, they stayed up all night talking about anything and everything. When morning came Aiden vowed that they’d see each other again. After texting back and forth for quite some time Aiden convinces Mel to go out on a date with him. She agrees, but gets stood up. No text or phone call, nothing. This sets the pattern for the next several years. When Aiden receives a career ending injury it’s Melanie who is there to offer a professional hand as well as loving support. Though his injury is physically breaking him it’s his head that nearly destroys him. How can he even think about being with Mel now that his career is over? Who would possibly want a washed out football player? He’d never be good enough for her. So while Aiden pushes her away she pulls him tighter, but when tragedy strikes and Aiden’s emotions are all over the place is Mel still going to be by his side or is this just one more failed times for them? Can they take the hardest hit...and survive, together?

    Melanie and Aiden have been dancing around each other for years ever since they met on the same night that their mutual best friends Brooke and Griffin met. The attraction and chemistry was always there, even more explosive than that of their friends, but with a whole lot of complications in between. Aiden is the star of his football team. He seems untouchable in so many ways based on his legacy and his reputation. But the real Aiden is someone who works hard for his success and wants to do right for his family, namely his 3 sons. Melanie is feisty and independent. She is a ball buster all the way and even if her bark was worse than her bite, not many guys would try to find out. However, Aiden is completely smitten by the whole package of Melanie, but he is always unable to seal the deal because something always comes up to require him to back out of their plans. This goes on for years and Melanie isn't one to sit and wait around and offer second chances. What never changes is their connection, they know more truths about each other than anyone else. So when the time comes where Aiden takes the hardest hit, Melanie is there for him in a flash. And all that time together forces them to face the most obvious truth of all regarding their feelings. I loved that Melanie was so no-nonsense and had such thick skin, but supportive in every way possible. She was incredibly understanding of Aiden's life, but she also didn't coddle him. As for Aiden, at first I didn't think I'd like him because he seemed so cocky, but he's incredibly down to earth with a genuine heart of gold. Their journey together took the long route, but they managed to yield the best results.

    Aiden and Mel met in Vegas and had a spark from the first moment they saw each other but life had it's way in keeping them apart for 8 years during which Aiden kept on trying pursuing her but things kept on getting in the way and after few no show dates from Aiden without explaining the real reason, Mel put her foot down and decided to end whatever it is that was between them which at the time wasn't more than an attraction and lots of back and forth flirtatious messages . Then disaster hits and Mel jumps in to help Aiden who keeps on pushing her away and hurting her and himself in the process. These two have alot of hurdles in their way . Is the time gonna finally come for them to be together?
    Read on this emotional book that would make you laugh at times and cry at others. Again I loved the supporting characters the guys are always hilarious and the little boys were funny. It was nice seeing the Reeds pop in this book .

    This book was amazing! I couldn't put it down! I loved the angst between Aiden and Mel and how hard Aiden worked to win her over. I'm so happy that Mel wasn't the type of heroine that was a complete push over that lets a guy walk all over her. She is strong and fierce and she stood up to Aiden when he needed to be told that the way he was acting was unacceptable. I also loved how well Mel got along with Aiden's boys and how she loved them as her own. She became their go to person and it was just adorable.
