The Hardest Shot (Indianapolis Eagles Series Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 147 ratings

Beckett

Hockey is my life.
My focus.
My priority.
I left Sweden for it five years ago.
I’ve finally been given a shot to prove myself, and I refuse to let anything jeopardize that.
No distractions ~ especially not Julia, the stunning woman I can't seem to get out of my mind. Only problem is, she's my coach's daughter.

Julia

I grew up around hockey.
Lived and breathed it, thanks to my dad’s job.
I never thought I’d fall for a player.
Especially one my dad coaches.
But there's just something about Beckett that draws me in.

Can I convince him he can be the hotshot goalie and find love, without having to choose just one?

The hardest shot to defend is the one you never take. I just hope he realizes he can have it all.

I have read the whole series, so parts of this book were like catching up with a bunch of family and friends, so I loved the updates on everybody's lives. I loved reading Julia and Beckett's book even though we are getting close to the series finale. Guess I will have to find a new series. I can hardly wait for JC and Jill's story!

"It doesn't matter what shots I'm faced with in life. I know I'll be able to face them with her in my corner."

I can't begin to tell you how much I loved this story. The entire series has been one sweet couple after another and this one just added another teaspoon of sugar!

Julia Soaps hasn't been able to stop thinking of him since she helped him with an injury - Beckett Karlson. Despite doing everything she can to get him to give in to her flirtations, he's holding his ground. Sometimes it sucks being the coach's daughter. Beckett sees her as the "can't touch her" girl, when all she wants is his hands touching all of her. Can she break down his defenses? When she does, will she be ready to get what she asked for?

Beckett Karlson is in trouble. The one girl he wants? Yeah, he can't want her. Or, at least he shouldn't. Julia. she's the coach's daughter, and crossing that line might just get him benched - or worse. But how much longer can he resist his desires. She's made it clear she wants him too. If she keeps this up, he won't be able to hold back anymore - and she'll get exactly what she's asking for. More if he has his way.

If you love a sweet romance story, with some hot, steamy scenes, definitely grab this one!!

The Hardest Shot is the sweetest romance I have read in a while. I’m a huge fan of Samantha’s Indianapolis Eagles series (you all know I love a hockey romance) so I was super excited for this book. This is just one of those romances where you smile and giggle the entire time.

Beckett & Julia have immediate chemistry but Beckett tries to friend-zone Julia because her father is his coach. Julia wants Beckett and isn’t above a little extra flirting to tempt him to cave to what they both know could be something great. But can Beckett really have both? .

The Hardest Shot has no big drama and is not angsty at all which I was super happy about. I’ve been reading a lot of high angst books and this was just what I needed to make my heart happy. And don’t worry, the steam & passion is there. This is a SUPER steamy read (🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥). It is just so well-written that you will just have a big smile on your face when you finish this book. So if you are a fan of sweet & steamy romances about hot hockey players this is a book for you.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

    3.5 STARS REVIEW

    Adult, Contemporary Romance, Sports

    First Person, dual-POV

This is book #7 of the Indianapolis Eagles series. It is part of a series, of players of a hockey team, but it can be read as a standalone, as each book has beginning and an ending.

"Little did I know, all those months ago, she might have been my hardest shot, but she’s also my best save."
    by Beckett

WHAT HAS REALLY WORKED FOR ME

Character: hero 5/5, heroine 5/5, secondary characters 4/5, growth 5/5, real 5/5 Multidimensional characters with several layers. They are all very interesting and have depth. If you follow the series, is lovely to see all your favorites have an appearance.

Beckett was a good hero. He was young, but has been living in America for the last 5 years. He moved all the way from Norway to go after his dream of playing at the NHL. When he finally got his contract with an NHL team, he was focus on doing everything he could to succeed. Even though he wasn’t going to be a starter, he was always training at his maximum capacity to become one. He was hot, polite, smart, hardworking and had a dirty mind. lol Really he didn’t want to fall for his coach’s daughter and was even a gentleman trying to keep things platonic. He was the son-in-law that every mother wished for her daughter.

Julia was a good heroine. The daughter of an retired NHL player, now a coach of the goalies of the Indianapolis Eagles, she grew up around hockey and hockey players. She has seen the good and the bad of being a players wife and she really never imagined dating a hockey player. But her attraction to Beckett was instantaneous and she was not a person that hide away from her wants. She pursue Beckett in a cute way, accepting to be only friends with him and not really forcing anything. She was beautiful, fun, smart and a really good girlfriend. In fact, I think she was perfect wife material for a hockey player. She knew all the ins and outs of their schedule and was used to it.

The best part of this series is this big group of players and how together they form a family. I’m looking forward to read Jill and JC’s book next.

All characters are easy to love, connect and understand!

Cover: art 4.5/5, title 5/5, color-font 5/5, buy 5/5 I’m obsessed with book covers. I love to find snippets of the stories within the art. This is a good cover that we can see was made for this book. The couple reminds me of Julia and Beckett and the background is a hockey ice stadium. The title is perfect for this story and the colors/font used works really well with the art. I would buy this book by its cover without needing to read the blurb!

Plot: believable 5/5, conflict 2/5, dialogue 5/5, ending 5/5, enjoyment 3.5/5, opening 5/5, pace 5/5, setting 5/5, subplots 4/5, twists 0/5 Good opening and a cute ending. A very believable plot with good subplot already building the next book of the series. Great dialogues with except setting. Perfect pace for the story with no twists at all and not a very good conflict. Good level of enjoyment!

I have to say I’ve missed a conflict here. I’ve missed a twist or two. I kept expecting the shoe to drop, but it never did. At the end if felt a bit too linear for me.

Romance: believable 5/5, chemistry 5/5, description 4/5, development 5/5, steam 4/5 This was a slow burn romance, with the couple becoming friends first, trying a platonic relationship, until their chemistry, being very high, exploded and they couldn’t keep their hands away from each other. The pace of this love story was perfect, it all made sense and it felt real. The smut had satisfactory descriptions and it was cute and sweet at the same time. Cute love!!!

Writing Style: 4/5 Amazing characters, good plot, beautiful romance and good sexy scenes. Clean writing without loopholes. Smart writing!!!

    WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

Addictiveness: 3/5 This was an easy read, with a good pace and a slow burn romance. I guess, the fact that it didn’t really grabbed me it was my personal choice. I’ve missed the thrilling, the WOW factor. As addictive bread!

Characters: Villains and/or antagonists… I’ve an antagonist, that may have created some sort of mayhem. I don’t , just a bit of drama.

Freshness: 3/5 It was good. It is hard to write contemporary romance with a very original concept. Specially in a series that have been going for a while. There was nothing very fresh here, but everything is written so well, that it doesn’t really need this unique factor. As fresh as mentos!

    MY THOUGHTS

I love the concept of this series. I love sports romance and as a character reader, I love to follow their day-to-day lives in a series.

I love the characters, to see how these athletes can become a sort of a family, to see the bonds they create.

I guess, I’m changing as a reader, that I’ve been missing a little the flare of it all.

I know that a story without angst and drama is even more realistic than lots of the dramas we read in romance novel. My personal love story has been sort of like that without real drama. But for a book, I miss the angst, I missed the twist, I miss the difficulties.

I wished their love wasn’t so easy.

I’m looking forward to JC’s book next, he deserves his own shining moment. I believe he finally made to first line!

    26.5/35 STARS – 3.5 STARS (between 24.5 stars and 27.5 stars)

    Addictiveness: 3 Character: 4 Cover: 4.5 Freshness: 3 Plot: 3.5 Romance: 4.5 Writing Style: 4

    Action 2/5 Angst 0/5 Darkness 0/5 Humor 3/5 Romance 5/5 Suspense/Mystery 0/5

Would I recommend? For everyone that enjoys sweet romance.

Would I re-read this book/series?!I don’t think I would reread the book, but I will follow the series.

Would I read more from the author? Yes.

You MAY read this because you like the author you SHOULD read this because you follow the series; you MUST read this for a cute sports romance!!!

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Beckett has always dreamed of playing in the NHL and now that his dream is within his grasp, he can’t allow himself to be distracted by anyone or anything. That goes double for Julia, his coach’s daughter, so he is determined to deny the chemistry between them and remain strictly friends.

Julia is a physiotherapist who is asked by her dad to look at Beckett’s injury. She is very attracted to him and is willing to accept his friends only terms but that doesn’t mean she won’t try to convince him that they could be so much more. Let the game begin!

These two were so cute together. Julia is determined to get her man and once she convinces him he is all in and is enough to make you swoon. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I loved Julia and Beckett's story! Beckett was the sweetest of all the men in this series! I loved how he had sweet little swedish nicknames for her. It just melted my heart when he would call her those nicknames! I loved how hard Beckett fell for Julia and how much he couldn't resist her! I can't wait to see what happens next with Jill and Jonathan!
