The Heist (To Catch A Leopard Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 79 ratings

To catch a leopard wear diamonds.

A year after THE BAIT, Ania Throne is on the prowl. Gone into hiding, she’s planned her next move to perfection, intent on winning her dangerous game of cat-against-cat with the Leopard. But Ania doesn’t know that even the best-laid heists have hidden flaws.

Jerome Curtis has taken a job at a Hollywood movie studio to try and put his life back together. When a familiar face from the past shows up unexpectedly, Jerome realizes that much as he’s tried to forget her, there’s no escaping Ania. And this time, what she’s about to do could be her doom.

The heist is on. Jerome must join with Ania again to bring down the mastermind thief who’s dead-set on not getting caught. Passion and vengeance collide as father and daughter bait each other in a high-stakes gambit, with Jerome caught in the middle. Because no matter how much Ania has tried to keep her lover safe, she’s only brought him back into the center of her ploy— and the Leopard intends to take full advantage of it.

From the glamour of late 1950s Hollywood to a desperate chase in the ravines of Los Angeles, two leopards must hunt each other to the end. And only one of them can bring down its prey.

THE HEIST is the thrilling conclusion in the
To Catch A Leopard series, a dramatic romantic caper that began with THE STEAL and THE BAIT.

Hollywood Heist Concludes Trilogy
The third book in the 1950s-set “To Catch a Leopard” trilogy, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘪𝘴𝘵 brings Ania Thorne, head of Thorne jewelry, and Jerome Curtis, a former soldier, together in Los Angeles during Oscar season. Ania has designed a striking set of jewelry for one of the Best Actress nominees knowing that the Leopard won’t be able to resist the lure of such a magnificent score. She’s thought of everything—except that Jerome, her former lover, recently appointed head of security at Segal Studios—will foil her plans. This series (which includes 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘭 and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘪𝘵) is rich in mid-twentieth century glamour, highlighting the fashion styles of the period. This entry in the trilogy highlights the golden age of Hollywood and the ritzy neighborhoods in the hills of Los Angeles. Luke, Ania’s second in command, is my favorite character, and he had a significant role in this novella. Ania, who had to question her strategy of cool remove and working alone, developed as a character. I don’t always like the gender politics, but they likely reflect the setting. These novellas are quick, fun reads for those who enjoy stories about high-end robberies and/or the lifestyles of the rich and famous. In particular, I love the details about jewelry design and production. I recommend reading them in order.

I couldn’t wait to read the last book in this 3 part series! I’ve been thinking about these characters since I read The Steal. It was a little like going back to visit old friends. LA is a great place to end this around the world chase, & I don’t think they could’ve wrapped it up any better.

This is the third and final book in this series. It was a very quick read. There was action, romance and plenty of suspense.
I won’t give it away but I didn’t really love the ending. I still had questions!
Altogether this was a very enjoyable series and quick reads! I loved these two authors individually and now I love them together! Great combination!

This cover has such a great vintage look! The Heist is the third and final novella in the To Catch a Leopard series. This time the action mostly takes place in late 1950s LA around the time of the Oscars. Jewelry designer Ania Thorne is determined to finally catch jewel thief The Leopard after his heists in Cannes and Venice. She is joined by her former lover Jerome as the two work to find the missing jewelry.

This is a quick, fun series told in dual points of view and alternating chapters between Ania and Jerome. These two have an interesting dynamic with lots of opposites attract going on. These novellas involve glamor, intrigue, romance and a game of cat and mouse. I wouldn't mind a fourth book because I'd like to know more about what happens with The Leopard

    4.5/5 (rounded up)

It is hard for me to believe that the To Catch A Leopard series has come to a close, but I thought The Heist was the perfect way to end it. I have been a fan of M.J. Rose for quite some time now but hadn't read C.W. Gortner prior to reading this series. I think they make a great writing team, and I loved how seamless the story felt; you can't tell it is written by 2 authors. In this final installment, Ania is still on the hunt for her father while Jerome is kind of floundering, taking jobs that don't let him reach his full potential. That all changes when he gets the chance to go to LA and guard a famous movie star. And what would be more fun than having people from his past show up? Nothing I would say.

Just like the first 2 books in the series, there is plenty of action and being that this is a novella that means it basically flies by in a blink. Since I did it with the last 2, I had to listen to The Heist on audio and appreciated they kept the same narrators (Chris Andrew Ciulla & Eva Kaminsky). Ciulla as Jerome and Kaminsky as Ania is basically a match made in heaven, and they are completely appropriate for their characters. Their narration is flawless as well, and if you can handle using a credit on Audible for such a short book (just over 4 hours on audio), I highly recommend it. If you enjoy historical fiction and heist stories with a dash of romance, this whole series is for you!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

AUTHOR: MJ Rose and CW Gornet
    PUB DATE: 08.02.2022 Now Available

    Book 1: The Steal
    Book 2: The Bait

I really enjoyed reading the first two books that I had to read the final book in TO CATCH A LEOPARD series, by amazing writing duo MJ Rose and CW Gornet. I find these romantic caper novella series like fun treats, short enough to enjoy in one sitting and yet immersive enough for a fabulous escape read. Each novella may be enjoyed independently and does not have to be read in order. The first book is set in Paris and Cannes, followed by the canals of Venice, and in the final heist, my hometown of Los Angeles.

I’m so excited for you to read the series and join Ania and Jerome as they both try to catch the illusion Leopard this time in sunny SoCal!

I listened to all three books. The plot is great and the characters are relatable. The voice actors are perfect for the book series.
