The human race has all but destroyed itself and those who remain know that they must avoid repeating the mistakes of their ancestors. But it’s extremely difficult. Without horses, it would be impossible.
Amarilla is one of those chosen by a horse as a Bond-Partner. She looks forward to a lifetime of learning from her horse and of passing on the mare’s wisdom to those seeking help. But then she discovers that she is the one for whom the horses have all been waiting. The one who can help them in return.
In order to give the horses the help they need, Amarilla will have to achieve that which has never been attempted before. Only her beloved mare can give her the motivation, the courage and the strength to believe she can succeed. If she does, a new era will dawn for horses and humans alike...

About the author

Lynn Mann is a British author with a long-standing involvement with horses, both personally and professionally. She was inspired to write her first book, The Horses Know, as a result of many years spent in the company of her very special blue-eyed, piebald mare. She now likes to escape into her futuristic world of the Horse-Bonded and their horses as much as – if not more than – her readers. - Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2022This may not be a series for everyone. If you don't have the inclinations to challenge all that you are and hold dear, if you don't wonder if humanity can truly be more & evolve when all around the world seems so bleak at times or if you do not want to have a deeply, thought provoking read, this series will likely stymie or even bore you. That's a shame then, but as the horses know, all is all it should be. It does help if before reading this you have some grasp of some of the concepts that are presented, they aren't necessarily new, they're simply presented in a way to make them more meaningful and demonstrate the connections & oneness we all share. By Chptr 3, I had already laughed uncontrollably, had my heart broken, been frustrated & cried my eyes out and I couldn't stop turning the pgs. These bks brought me such serenity, serving as a reminder as truths I already knew but had seemed to have forgotten.
In a simple description, it's a tale of what happens after if humanity stays on the path it is on, one fueled by its' fears and as the resulting emotions: anger, anguish, sadness and escalating violence. When society has imploded, thanks to a few pioneers calling themselves simply 'The New' , they seek out living a different way. Fortunately, through etching out relationships with horses and later, dogs they are shown the way to transcend & evolve into what humanity was always meant to become. (This isn't really a spoiler; you already know that this story, while harrowing for the main character Amarilla, will end positively simply as you first come to witness the strength of her person in the 1st few chapters.)
There are only two negatives that I can point out, the 1st, especially in the beginning chapters, the writing can seem choppy or disjointed. But if you contrast this to the world building that is taking place this also shows that it's done on purpose. At one point, I even teasingly joked that sometimes I *heard* the influence of Yoda on how Infinity 'speaks' . Don't be a grammar nazi, there's actually a point to how they are communicating initially and you'll discover it's simply that they are Amarilla & Infinity are forging their connection. The 2nd & biggest point I can see for others reading this is if you lack any knowledge of horse husbandry or riding, sections may baffle you or seem irrelevant. Stick with it, my knowledge of horses was simply limited to reading on them as a childhood love & it was enough for it all to make sense, even if I didn't have that bkground it all becomes clear in later chapters. Simply watching the changes of the key characters personally wasn't a drawback bc much of the story is told from the intense interactions b/w Amarilla and Infinity, the piebald mare that dedicates her life to her and helping her become all she can so it's necessary to the plot as are the interactions b/w other characters & their horses. There are elaborate & detailed descriptions at length about the world of horses and riding them, these elements might drag aspects of the overall, plot down or become boring & cause one to abandon the series or desire skipping past them. I would advise this, if you feel this happening, take the advice of the horses and simply step away from the bks, sit w/what's been going on & you'll realize even the chptrs that detail horse riding at length are significant. A 2nd thing that may help is the bks often speak of the 'collective consciousness ', if you're entirely unfamiliar with this concept another name you can reference is the 'Akashic record'. Spending 5 min to Google & research this is worth it so that you don't abandon these bks.
I feel like I have been profoundly changed simply by reading this series & I hope it has a similar experience for you. Perhaps if more can grasp even a portion of what's described, society can avoid what happens to those unfortunate people who are live in what the book refers to as 'The Old', a reference to the old ineffective culture that no longer sustains society and thus ends bc it's not in balance. I'd also say these bks can be a huge help to anyone facing struggles with grief /loss, trauma or simply an identity crisis. To say it might help you find yourself again isn't an exaggeration either. I possess a history of long-term trauma, have been in therapy on/off close to 30 yrs struggling with Complex PTSD issues & triggers and by books end felt through reading & experiencing what Amarilla does, Infinity has also helped me find my way closer to being comfortable in skin & releasing many of the blocks that I haven't been able to process. Thank you Lynn Mann for writing this stunning, amazing book and I highly recommend it to everyone. A+

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful experiential journey to the fullness of the Horse/Human relationship.
The human race has all but destroyed itself and those who remain know that they must avoid repeating the mistakes of their ancestors. But it’s extremely difficult. Without horses, it would be impossible.
This series truly reflects the full expression of the spiritual in the horse/human relationship. It follows Amarilla Nixon and her Horse Bonded community as they fulfill their souls’ purpose to bring humanity to Awakening and living in complete Oneness with All That Is. Lynn Mann sets her characters to overcome all of the obstacles to humanities inability to release their deep fears and defenses so that they can become unconditional love and wholistic awareness with the wise help and guidance of horses. In the Epilogue of the third book Lynn writes:
To be human is to have a sense of self. To be dog is to be a constant expression of unconditional love. To be horse is to bring balance. Humans are the least stable of all species, the most likely to be knocked off balance and lose their way, but as long as there are dogs to reassure us when we experience the discomfort of straying from the path, and horses to guide us back onto it, we will be okay.
The first book in this series, The Horses Know, introduces us to the Horse Bonded and the culture in which they live and thrive. The next two books, The Horses Rejoice and The Horses Return, complete the great purpose of bringing humanity into Oneness. These books took me on a wonderful experiential journey of the fullness of the Horse/Human relationship. I highly recommend them.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021I am not a eloquent enough writer to do justice to this series of books. It has help me more than I can say. I lost one of the loves of my life today. Her name is momma. She was a miniature horse with the heart of a draft horse. I can feel better knowing that this story comes close to what could happen when we pass on. I am comforted in a real life situation by a story of fiction with heart. I highly recommend this book to all animal lovers and those who are looking forward to the adventure that waits for use. Be ready to shed some tears of sadness and joy at the same time. Thank you for these books
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2022I love not only these three books but the prequels and sequels. After retiring I took up dressage for the balance and lightness, and love that she wove classical riding training into the larger storyline. I hope she continues with more prequels or something in this world she has created
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2021I totally loved this series, it was amazing. The characters and horses were all fantastic. It is a truly wonderful way to look at how animals help human's and how stubborn and irrational human's can be. It the end it all works out. I loved it. It gives one hope. Now I will read the 2 Prequel books that I hadn't seen before and the Sequel after those. Wouldn't want to miss a word.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2020This series is amazing. I have been on a long journey of self discovery and these books have gone a long way in helping me find my balance. These awesome stories artfully wove the self help ideas into recognizable life experiences which really helped them make sense. I had more light bulbs going off in my head as I read. I’ve read through the series, including the prequel to these three books, twice now and will read them again as there is a lot to absorb. What an experience!! Thank you for sharing these stories with us.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2022This book series is deeply moving. The intimate bond between the characters and their horses is akin to the deepest of friendships.
Infinity guides you through All that is.
