From the Author

I write dark paranormal and Gothic romance as well as dark horror. The Gothic romantic fiction I write is combined with horror. This fiction is replete with tortured vampires, passionate sex and feeding. I believe vampires are wanton, highly sexual creatures and I depict them that way. Having said that, they are capable of deeply felt emotions. They are complex creatures. There are good and bad among them as there are among all beings..With regard to the horror, it tends to be contemporary. I have all sorts of monsters, some human and some human-like. Serial killers, monstrous beings inside, don't necessarily look like what they are. That to me, is most scary..Creativia has just released my 8th book, a novel based on the infamous Blood Countess, Erzsebat Bathory who held absolute power in 16th Century Hungary. She was a sexual sadist and predator. That book was a challenge to write, but I love challenges!Thank you for reading this. I hope you will check out my writing!

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a copy of the book as a free download on Amazon.

Rose Baines comes home one night to find her whole family dead, her mother, two sisters, brother and father. Her mother, sisters and brother were killed by her father, with him committing suicide. Rose is so upset and can't stop screaming. Rose's life has been nothing but tragic. She has been abused by her father since she was a child and now he has gone and taken her family from her.

Rose is first taken to "Bedlam" hospital where is treated and the taken to an insane asylum. Where she meets the "good' Dr. Bannion who tries to help Rose so she thinks. Rose doesn't believe that she will ever leave the asylum because she is told by another inmate who becomes her friend that no one ever gets out alive.

A woman who is friends with Dr. Bannion who comes to the asylum on occasion to bring things for the patients sees Rose and wants to help her. She talks to Dr. Bannion about having Rose work for her at her home on Blackstone Moor as governess to her children. Dr. Bannion agrees that working for Mrs. Darton would be good for Rose. He thinks that Rose should stay at his home for a month before starting her new job. He says she needs time to adjust in the outside world before jumping into a new job and home with people she doesn't know.

Rose is very happy with the prospect of a job and place to live. She is just thrilled that she is getting out of the asylum. Rose has no idea who or what kind of people the Dartons are nor what she is getting herself into by taking the job at Blackstone Moor. Upon arriving at Blackstone moor Rose becomes so confused with all the things that she sees and witness. She doesn't know if she is dreaming or if it is all real. Rose has no clue as to who she can trust or not trust. She begins to have feelings for Mr. Darton, feelings that she knows she should not be having for a married man.

Rose comes to love the children even when she sees them doing wired and creepy things. She loves them so much that she would give up her own life and soul to save them. With all the dark and evil things that Rose witness at Blackstone Moor she wonders if she is crazy and maybe she should leave. But she can't leave Mr. Darton and the children after falling in love with them.

I loved reading The House on Blackstone Moor with all the dark, creepy, evil things that goes on there. The House on Blackstone Moor has a lot of different paranormal creatures in it. Like vampires, fallen angels, demons and even Satan himself. I love reading books with all of these creatures in them and to find one that has all of them in it and not just one is awesome.

The House on Blackstone Moor had me hooked from the first sentence. In the very first sentence Rose has just came home to find her family dead. That is a very well written book when it can pull you in from the beginning and keep you hanging on til the last sentence in the book. Carole Gill has done a tremendous job of creating a dark world full of vampire, demons and fallen angels. I can't wait to read the sequel to The House on Blackstone Moor, Unholy Testament: The Beginnings.

"I was in love with a demi-demon, an occasional imbiber of blood, a creature most of the world hated. Yet, I still loved him and the children-demons all".

This is the first of Carole Gill's books that I have read, and it was much more than I had ever hoped for, or expected it to be. It's an extremely dark and enticing read. Each sentence propelled me on to the next.

I knew it was a book about vampires, but I didn't know much else besides that. Sometimes I like to go into books, kind of blind, without finding out much about them prior. I just knew I wanted to read some of Carole Gill's work after hearing and reading comments about it over the last several months.

I read quite a lot of vampire themed books, but this was unlike any other vampire book I've personally read, which I was really pleased about. I needed a change from my norm. I love dark writing and a good bit of horror and Carole Gill really does have a handle on how to write and bring forth the sheer darkness of the story she has within her (in my own opinion). I really enjoyed the book.

So much happened in The House on Blackstone Moor, that I scarcely know where to begin with a plot outline. So, I'm not going to give one, as I usually would, for fear of not doing the story justice. Sorry! It's just one of those books that you'd have to read, to get any kind of grasp on just exactly what and how much goes on within its pages.

It's turned 4am here as I've just finished this and from beginning to end I was completely enthralled and taken in by the goings on. I couldn't put the book down and I've been sat here with caffeine to ensure I made it to the final page this night.

I half expected your typical kind of vampiric creatures. You know, tall, dark and handsome. Broody looking gents that usually make the female characters swoon. However, what I got were creatures in a whole other league. It was great! I dare say, the supernatural creatures we meet in this (this includes the devil himself by the way) would wipe the floor with the creatures I've came across in my reading previously. Some of them seemed to be pure, evil incarnate.

The main character has a really, really hard time throughout the story and I found myself reading, thinking "Surely it's over now for her, surely she cannot endure anything more than she already has". And yet, the horrific events in her life just kept on coming. One, horrific, gruesome scene after the other, and yet, she still endures, somehow. For such a young girl, she goes through a lot.

I know this book won't be to everyone's tastes. In fact I'm sure it'll have a very divided audience. Those who like its darkness and those who definitely do not. Such is life though. I can imagine the violence and gory bits being just too much for some. But, I liked the book. It kept me entertained, shocked me and rocked me to my core in places. Sometimes, I just need a good dark read and this I found to be enjoyable, and also, addictive. I briefly considered closing the book and retiring for the night, but the thought quickly passed as I continued reading on. Lol. When a book can make me stay up all night, I'm compelled to give it a thumbs up.

Thanks for an entertaining night of reading! I will be reading more of this series.

Word of warning: This is definitely not a book for the fainthearted, or the younger readers out there, in my opinion. There are scenes in this book that could be quite disturbing for some people.

I really liked the writer's style, and the storyline was interesting. The time period that it took place in was appropriate for the plot. The suspense was handled nicely.

However, I found the story just too inconsistent. The first half of the book read like an old Victoria Holt Gothic Romance, whereas the second half was more like a Stephen King confused nightmare. There seemed to me to be too much going on in the second half with vampires, demons, fallen angels Satan, etc. I do enjoy all those creatures when they are well integrated into the storyline, but I didn't feel like they were in this book--it was almost like they were just thrown in haphazardly.

It was difficult for me to warm up to the main romance, as it seemed very sudden and a bit stilted. Not for young readers, as it does have sex, violence, and incest.

But even so, it was a good read--I liked it overall; I just felt it could have been better.

I just did not like it.

I'm a huge fan of Jane Eyre, and this didn't even come close despite the reviews. I got so bored with the underdeveloped characters. The 'romance' was rushed and weird - not in a good way. Do NOT read this book for romance. The horror aspects were just okay. There was just too much going on and a lack of focus in my opinion. It was oddly vague and hard to follow in some parts, and it felt like the author was trying too hard.
It was a definite waste of money.

I picked up this book through Twitter. It had a good start and I had high hopes of a good read. I found as I read on that it started to drag somewhat. I think the author would have done well to shorten the entire length of the novel and keep the pace up rather than dwelling on the repetitive. Maybe it was me expecting more excitement which is a pity as Ms Gill does write well but drags out the plot too much. Unfortunately I found I couldn't finish the book because of this.
