5 stars!! 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 by Serena Akeroyd is the 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 book of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝘂𝗲𝘁, in The Valentini Family Series. The Don MUST be read first. Wow, just wow. I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to The Don! Luciu is his usual charming, perfect self and Jen blew me away by her bravery, strength, and self-growth. After the cliffhanger ending of The Don, we are back in NYC with Jen and Luciu as they navigate the path towards their HEA. This book is amazing and so entertaining! You just never want to put it down. I adore Serena Akeroyd’s writing. The way she interweaves her characters from her previous books is genius. I loved that The Lady focuses on Jen and her journey towards finding herself and the love of her life, our Don, Luciu. The sweet moments between them are so beautiful, honest and touching. Luciu is indescribable and you really need to read for yourself to understand how sexy and charming the Sicilian Mafia Don is. The way that Luciu treats Jen is literally every woman’s dream. I can’t spoil anything for you in case you haven’t read The Don but all I can say is, just 𝙒𝘼𝙄𝙏 until you see the way Luciu not only treats his Riggina (Queen) but the way he makes 𝙊𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙍 people treat her. There were scenes in which I wanted to stand up and cheer because of how well justice is deliciously served. Luciu Valentini allows Jen to be herself and loves her for it but also gives her the tools she needs to grow stronger. “𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶, 𝘍𝘪, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨…” Jen proves to herself that she is truly the Queen and stands by Luciu’s side as his Lady. You have to read this duet! It’s not only epic in it’s own right, but we also see a lot more of Aoife and Finn and the beginning of what is going to be several more stories in the crossover series. The ending was amazing. I loved the way Luciu and Jen closed their chapter while also introducing us to Luciu’s badass sister Aurora and his brother Stan. Serena has become a one click author for me. I am so glad I read this and highly recommend this series. I can’t wait until the next book!

    This is NOT a stand-alone! It is part of the Dark and Dirty Sinners’ MC and The Five Points’ Mob series universe and Part 2 of the Duet on the newest mafia family in NYC. There are multiple reoccurring characters, overlapping timelines and overarching themes. I HIGHLY advise these be read in the author’s recommended reading order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.

    ** There are multiple subjects for those that have a trigger or offended by certain topics. I highly recommend that anyone sensitive read these before purchasing. **

    WARNING: If you have not read any of the previous stories in the series, then the following may contain spoilers.

    ⛔️ Contains adult language, derogatory terms used to describe females (and some males), steamy hot adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, and violence such as kidnapping, abduction for ransom, assassinations, murder, assault, torture, betrayal, consensual / non-consensual acts, attempted rape, rape, prostitution, theft, illegal drug use / manufacture / distribution, human trafficking, domestic violence, blackmail, subterfuge, etc.

    Also contains references to mental, physical and sexual abuse with some to children.

    There are a few grammatical issues, but less than in previous stories, mainly missing and extra inserted words. There are also not as many unfamiliar phrases or terms as in previous stories within the shared universe, but a few still are used. Since the hero of the story is from Sicily, via England, I expected some to be used. I am trying to make sure to mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors or unfamiliar terms / phrases it interrupt the flow.

    Luciu is the new Sicilian Don of the Italian mafia. It was a position that his family held under his Grandfather before his murder when Luciu’s father was a baby. Through planning, plotting and undermining the Italians for the last 10 years, they have avenged some of the wrongs of the past and started the search for their family’s stolen rubies.

    Jennifer, aka Jen, is the BFF of Aoife, and the former BFF of Savannah. She was introduced early in the series. She has had a hard life, even though it should have been better now that she knew who her father was … just reinforces the message that no one, especially men, can be trusted … they will all leave you. So how can she depend on Luciu, despite what he has shown her so far? Just when she begins to, he is arrested, she is dropped off in front of her crappy apartment without so much as a word, and no one will tell her what is going on!

    This book picks up right where we left off with “The Don” and we see Jen desperately trying to figure out with Luciu was arrested. She really goes through a rough few days that ends up with Aoife, her best friend, having a miscarriage. We know Aoife from the Filthy series. So reading about her losing the baby was so heartbreaking.

    There is a reveal of who a character is that I don’t want to spoil. I’ll just say that the first time I read the book I was so surprised. Luciu’s siblings still don’t like Jen, which sucks because she is so good for him. They really are unfair towards her.

    I will say I appreciate that Jen fully accepts Luciu’s spending money on her, and getting her a job. So many times we see the FMC’s rejecting the rich MMC’s offers of money and support, whereas Jen was all in for it! Lady knew what she wanted and was fine with taking it. I always figured if a hot rich man whom I loved came along and wanted to buy me things and pay off debts I’d be all in.

    The book had a little bit of a conflict with Jen’s mother, but it really was about Luciu and Jen’s relationship and his establishing himself as Don of the mafia. Overall I enjoyed the book and love reading about everyone in Seven’s Filthy/Sinners universe.

    Ok, I’ve been tearing my way through Serena Akeroyd’s books. I’ve been reading The Satan Sinners MC and The 5 Points’ Mob series in their crossover order. I will eventually write series reviews for them but I’m not finished yet. The Don and The Lady are the first duet in the Valentini Family series it’s all a part of the same world. I have fallen hard for this universe and this world and I don’t want to leave it!

    The Don and The Lady come near the end of the crossover order and while you could read them alone, I highly suggest reading at least the 5 Points to have a better understanding of what is going on.

    Jen is a self-proclaimed gold digger that wants more than what she grew up with and is not afraid to use her body to try and climb that ladder. Luciu has been seeking revenge for the past 10 years and has now taken his title as The Don of the mafia in New York. They meet by chance and both feel and instant something towards each other.

    Luc courted her so perfectly and he was a perfect Sicilian dreamboat that would slay dragons for Jen. Jen had a journey of finding her self worth and whether she could be what Luc needed with his position. I loved them together. I loved Jen’s unapologetic way of living her life and her reasons why she did.

    There was a ton of action and the storyline has me chomping at the bit to get Rory’s story!

    The second book of the Valentini Family and the end of The Oath Duet, is the continuation to The Don and the relationship between Jen and Luciu.

    Throughout we find out more about what has happened in the past of both, making them the people they are now!!

    We learn the true horrors of what the Fieri's did to the Valententini's and how they found Luciu's father and how he too had been killed!!

    We find out the true reason for Jen's less than stellar relationship with Diana, aka mom. The reason why she is, or should I say was, a good digger and why she views men the way she did. Of course Luciu actually changed all of it!!

    But what happens when Jen and Luciu go to see Diana, after Jen finally answers her call?!?! Will their relationship begins to heal or will it finally just end and she walks away for good??

    Well if you want the answer to that, I'm afraid you're going to have to read the book. But why just read it, when you can also listen to it too. The narrators again are the uber talented C. J. Bloom and Joe Arden.

    Trust me when I say, that they really do bring these two characters roaring to life!! C. J is so perfect as the snippity Jen, who can be more prickly than a cactus or porcupine, take your pick.

    And Joe just seems to ooze charisma, that you could possibly assume to be, because he's a Sicilian!! But if I'm honest Joe just had one of those voices that can leave a woman panting.

    Also C. J really does do a great British accent and that's a huge plus!! Often other narrator's attempt to do one and really fall short and usually leave me wanting to tear my hair out. So for that alone I am grateful 😂😂

    In all honesty though, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not getting the two and listen as you read, it's an experience I always rave about, IF the narrator's are good and these two are two of the best out there!!

    After reading book 1 (hot!), it took me a little while to start book 2, but when I finally did, I couldn't help blowing through it in a day. It was great. The growth of the relationship was fun, the sex scenes were juicy, and the storyline was interesting. There wasn't a lot of drama, more an expansion and both introducing new information and tying off some previously hinted threads. I really enjoyed it.
