The sequel to A Christmas Promise…

Joshua Trant is doing his best to support his son Micah and Micah’s partner Greg as they approach the trial of Greg’s attackers. This was never going to be easy, especially as Greg wants them prosecuted for a hate crime, but County Attorney Alexander Rycliffe assures them he’ll do his utmost to make sure the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. Joshua hopes that whatever the outcome, Greg will be happy. What he’s finding more difficult to deal with, is the way he’s feeling about Alex. Joshua has loved two people in his life – Hayden and Rachel – and lost them both. The chance of him being lucky a third time is so slim, the thought doesn’t even cross his mind, until Love – and his kids – give him a push in the right direction…

Alex knows what it is to have loved and lost, and he thinks he’s done with men. Then Joshua Trant walks into his life. Alex soon learns there’s more to Joshua than just a handsome face, and the men finally have what both of them need – a friend. But as the months go by, it becomes obvious to everyone concerned that their friendship has the potential to develop into something deeper – if they let it.

One man who thinks he’s had his chance at love.
One man who has to let go of a past betrayal and learn to trust again.
And both are about to be shown Christmas is indeed a time of miracles. All you have to do is believe…

A slow burn for Christmas that makes the HEA worth waiting for.

Contains: two adorable mature guys who act their age, a snarky BFF, reference to hate crimes but no on page violence, delicious food, unsolicited help from well-meaning twenty-something kids, and finally a first time... and a second...

An amazing read.
A slow burn love story even though it takes both Joshua and Alex awhile to realize that they are meant to be together. A very enjoyable story and well worth reading.

The author brought the characters to life. I could picture the events described in my mind and felt like I was actually there watching as things unfolded. For the first time in a long time I found a book that really appeals to me and shows me that gay men in the 50's and older don't have to give up hope of finding someone their age to love and be loved. This is a book about 2 mature men who find and fall in love amidst a back drop of a horrible crime that brings them together and shows them that life does continue after you hit 50yrs old. Its about time that authors realize that not all gay men want someone younger or need someone younger in their lives but that relationships between men in their 50's and above can and do happen in the real world and this book shows this and tells a beautifully written story about that. I wish more authors would write books like this because there just aren't enough stories like this that show us older men that we don't have to chase after the younger guys because that's what gay society expects us to do that its okay to love someone your own age. Too many books focus on the May/December romances but not so many the "December/December" romances.
Please take the time to read and enjoy this book as much as I did. Its a wonderful beautiful written story that I will read and reread over and over again.
I can't thank the author KC Well enough for this very special book that is heartwarming and endearing. Please write more books like this and please write a sequel to this one and continue the wonderful work.

4 stars!! 💕🎄🤩. Wonderful sequel to the "Christmas Promise". This is definitely not a stand-alone and should be read as a series... and what a perfect HEA for the Trant family-ensemble.
In this continuation of the Trant family saga, we find that Micah and Greg are now an established and happy couple but Joshua is feeling the pangs of empty nest syndrome. To his pleasant surprise, he find a connection with Alex (the state prosecutor on Greg's case) and they hit it off first as friends and then more than friends.. 💘. This is such a mature love story and handled so well that it's even better than the "Christmas Promise". Highly Recommended 👍

Both books were absolutely wonderful. It was refreshing to read a story were the love was slow building, but still not rushed once the intimacy started. I enjoy them both for that reason. I loved the side characters and was do glad they were so active in both books. The way the mature love was brought about from friends to more was perfect. Really enjoyed how secure both men were even though the were both dealing with past hurts and loss.

What an amazing book. Alex and Joshua are older MC’s and KC Wells did more than just write a story. She showed a side to characters you would not normally see - the experience in life, the hardships and the struggles that come with age. Life is about love and loss unfortunately and then having to continue on and wondering if you can ever open yourself up to someone again. But it was also a book that had me laughing out loud quite often. A fantastic list of secondary characters in Greg, Micah, Naomi and Manda worked perfectly with Alex and Joshua to bring to life this amazing Christmas story of life, love, family and hope for all.

It is so refreshing to read a love story about men in middle age with all the baggage (good and bad) that comes with their lives. The story evolves at just the right pace so we get to know Alex and Joshua as they get to know each other. Alternating POV was a great choice so we can inside the minds of each.

As they say in the story, both men have loved dearly and suffered a great loss. How nice to see their HEA and the resolution of Micah and Greg's story. I'm am sorry to say goodbye to them. This one goes on my Favorites list to reread.

I am biased towards the stories from KC Wells so you can put that in your mind. I began reading her books with the stories from the Learning to Love series and her writing, descriptions and character development had me so much into the world of Michael & Sean, Evan & David, and Josh & Chris. Even though it's been over 40 years since I've been a college student ( and I'm female), KC was able to touch the uncertainty, angst and invincibility that I remember from those days with the tales of these six guys and their experiences.

This book also connected with me even though I am now a happily, 43-years married to my incredible husband, grown woman. The emotions of these two late 40-ish men felt so true that I laughed, cried, felt tormented, wildly sexy, and rejoiced along with them. Her story shows what I know from my 70 years of living, we are NEVER too old to feel joyously in love!

Please get yourself a copy of this book and sit down for an escape into the lives of Joshua and Alex, along with Micah, Greg, Naomi and Simon. In fact, get a copy of A Christmas Promise, the story for which this is a sequel, to get up to speed on Micah and Greg's story! It's not necessary, but why not enjoy both - you'll be so happy you did!!!

Slightly older men, still in their prime get their 2nd chance at a HEA. Second book but this can solidly be a stand-alone. I say read the first because there are references to the previous book and it could get confusing to some.

Seriously what’s not to love about two older guys finding love. Both of them have their own baggage that they have to come to terms with over this wonderful slow building romance. And that’s what I love about KC Wells stories, there’s real life but with a lot of hope and magic. Alex and Joshua start by becoming friends helping each other out, cooking and companionship I suppose. Each of them believing they are done with love only to find love hadn’t finished with them yet. It was great that everyone else could see it but they couldn’t. I loved the slow build it let me get to know and come to love Joshua and Alex. Joshua being so happy he managed to cook meatloaf for the kids endeared me to him right from the start along with Alex’s humour about having two titles. The two of them together making a white chocolate cheesecake, made me smile. The length of time before they even kissed was well worth the buildup. There is so much more to the story, good times and bad, bittersweet moments. It’s one I will definitely read again and become a Christmas favourite
I know this book is a sequel, and it can certainly be read on it’s own but I would wholeheartedly recommend reading A Christmas Promise first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, I loved this

What a awesome story this has been. With the MCs Joshua and Alex being in their early fifties it has a very special dynamic to it and is a very compelling read. K.c Wells has in my opinion has out done herself with this. I caught myself laughing out loud many times. But I also got very caught up in both of these men's vulnerabilities. I loved being a part of their journey from strangers to friends to lovers. I find it really hard to put into words how much I really really loved this story from beginning to end. I also have to say that is Alex is a fantastic cook and teacher and I really want his cheesecake recipe. I dont want to give any spoilers away. Just know you will absolutely love this. For me it is a 5 star +++++

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read

I thoroughly enjoyed "A Christmas Promise" and the part Joshua played in that book, so was excited to read his book. I wasn't disappointed! Seeing Joshua and Alex dance around each other was sweet, fun, and entertaining. Alex took a little more convincing to let go of the past and move forward, but that didn't change the friendship and chemistry that existed between the two of them. I loved seeing Micah, Greg and Naomi play such a big part in this too. The close relationship between the kids and their Dad was great to see. This is a duet that I'd recommend - and definitely read them in order to get the best impact.
