The Matchmaker: A Pride & Prejudice Novella (Mischief & Matrimony) Paperback – August 3, 2021
Purchase options and add-ons
Georgiana Darcy fancies herself a matchmaker. Determined to help her brother out of his blue spell, she decides that her new acquaintance—Miss Jane Bennet—is just the lady to fill Darcy’s heart with cheer. And while she is at it, would not Miss Elizabeth Bennet suit Georgiana’s cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam perfectly?
Misunderstandings abound as the characters readers know and love take matters into their own hands, leaving Miss Darcy caught unaware.
Will Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth admit they are in love with each other, or will the interference of a well-meaning girl keep them apart? What happens when the course of true love does not run straight? Does Miss Darcy learn the lesson that it is best not to interfere?
Told primarily from Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth’s point of view, this charming 25,000-word Regency tale by best-selling author Christie Capps is appropriate for all ages. Every book in this series is a complete story that can be read in any order.

About the author

Christie Capps is the pen name of Joy King, who also writes as J Dawn King. Because of increasing demands on her time, she has fewer and fewer hours to read. She doubts she is the only one with these circumstances. Therefore, her stories will all be approximately 100 pages of sweet romance and will be priced less than one cup of flavored coffee from your local barista.
Happy reading!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2025This little story was so cute. Georgianna well meaning but ill made choices for her brother and cousin go awry of course but all's well that ends well. I listened to the audiobook and found Stevie Zimmerman's narrating top notch as usual. I kind of felt sorry for Bingley but loved the kind but blunt manner that Darcy used for teaching Bingley the things he needed to learn. I hope Bingley can manage it. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2023While rushed in one aspect, this cute and sweet diversion is perfect for a lunchtime read, a pickup of spirits, a smile, and, perhaps, even a giggle. The best of plans running awry when nothing was done for the matchmaking schemes by the one who intended to make things happens is, of course, just how it should be. The turn of Jane's character I loved in every way. The way Darcy and Elizabeth fell into one another's arms I loved even more, but, of course, it was Colonel Fitzwilliam who won the day for me, as he should, for if ever there was a more perfect a man ready to fall in love, I know not how he could be written! The only stickler for me was the cover image looking so modern for this regency-era tale, though I am sure when I see it in my kindle I will think of how dashing the good Colonel was in this tale and smile, for it is most distinctive.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2021Really....this deserves way more than 5*!
This story is adorable, the plot is perfect, the pace is perfect. It's like a 30 minute sit-com with snap, snap, scenes. The beginning where you have the 'oh no she didn't' moment (which continues even to its laughable end.) The middle where an actual conflict begins and the near tragic consequences of such. Holy cow!! it was jaw dropping to hear what Caroline spewed forth when she thought no one important was listening. And then the rollicking, fun! tying up the happiness of two couples. And instead of the matchmaker á la Emma, our dear little Georgie hangs up her matchmaking ambitions permanently.
Christie Capps ends her reported short story style pen name retirement with a perfect series finale. I will miss looking forward to new ones, but I have so many beloved C.C. stories to reread and re-listen to. Thank you Christie/Joy. I can't wait to read what you'll bring to us next.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2024The whole story takes place with the characters stuck at an inn for one reason or another. Without knowing their history, Georgiana tries to match Darcy with Jane and Colonel Fitzwilliam with Elizabeth.
A cute and refreshing story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Georgiana has not a clue
Lovely story where ODC have to work a bit.
I like Georgiana but she is too innocent and naive to get to know what a person needs in a partner.
4.5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice quick read
An improbable story of everyone meeting at an inn, with a fairly weak Bingley and a rescue. A good quick read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read
Always enjoy stories where Jane has some backbone and Caroline gets hers. Short and sweet story. Well written, fast paced story. A good fun read.
