Friends-to-Lovers
♥ Close Proximity
♥ Gay Awakening

Hux has been hiding his real feelings for his best friend and cousin Jack for as long as he can remember. But at the secluded lake cabin they're renovating together, will Hux's desperate yearning for Jack finally lead to true love?

JACK

Hell, I knew the divorce from Sophie would break my heart, but I had no idea how lost and lonely I would feel once she was gone. Everything ended amicably, almost too peacefully, but now I’m facing a whole new chapter of my life. The only problem is, I don’t know what that chapters holds, or if anyone will ever be there to catch me if I fall again.

My only savior right now is my cousin and best friend Hux. We’ve known each other just about our whole lives, and his invitation up to the woods to help him rebuild the old cabin by Pathfinders Lake could be the one thing I need to figure out what plans the universe has in store for me… and the path I need to find.

HUX

Hell, I knew Jack’s divorce from Sophie would break his heart, but I had no idea it would bring to the surface all the yearning and pain and hopelessness I’ve felt over the years. The fact is, Jack’s the one and only person I ever want to spend the rest of my life with. But how do you tell your best friend—your cousin—how you truly feel? I know I need to help him through the dark days following his divorce, but will I be able to keep myself from betraying all his trust by letting my true feelings show? Will inviting him up to the woods to help me rebuild the old cabin by Pathfinders Lake be the end of our relationship? Or will we finally find our very own path in this world together?

The Pathfinders is a standalone friends/cousins-to-lovers romance that is light on taboo and big on heart-soaring romance. It is a sweet and sexy 50k-word story with emotional subplots, scenes that will make you laugh and cry, and a HEA that will touch your heart.

Oh. Man. What can I say about this book? For one, it was beautifully written, so true-to-life and life messages galore. Jack and Hux are best friends and cousins. Tight since they were 8 years old. At 27yo Jack has just divorced his middle school girlfriend and is feeling lost. Parents both dead, ex-wife moving on and a life he never wanted is his future. After sulking for too long he decides to go visit Hux who has secretly loved Jack since they were eight. At the cabin in the woods Jack and Hux come to some startling revelations. Will it be too late or right on time? Will they find their “desire line” more commonly called path?
There were so many OMG moments: Hux’s dream on the sofa, Rochelle the Raccoon hunter, Jack and Hux together for the first time, the morning after, meeting Hattie Mayfield, Mrs. Henderson’s “last” scene, in the yard after the wake…I’m sure I’ve left out some but these will haunt me forever.
My ebook has been bookmarked by a rainbow! There were so many beautiful word-pictures. I cried, I smiled, my heart broke and finally I sighed. I love it when the perfect words are put together in such a way that it touches your soul. This book will do that if you like M/M sweet, regretful and steamy romance. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and comes highly recommended. More than 5 Stars!

The Pathfinders is written in first person perspective, switching every chapter between the two male leads. This was very helpful because the reader got to know the characters from their thoughts. Unfortunately, this also worked against the believability of the story. A couple of times, a lead character’s dialogue conflicted with his actual thoughts from earlier chapters. While the m/m erotic scenes are on par for Knight’s writing skills, they arrived too early in book. The book would have been better without the cousin to cousin love, because this topic is mostly glossed over. If the two male leads, instead of being related, had merely been childhood buddies, this review would have been with more stars. Too often, conveniently supporting characters advised or plainly told the lead characters what to do.
The Pathfinders has an interesting premise that unfortunately became just another m/m romance.

I really enjoyed this book. Jack and Hux had such a special connection it was easy to root for their happily ever after. The slightly taboo cousins angle was interesting. I'll read more from the author in the future.

Always up for a taboo reading. Hux has been in love with his cousin and best friend since they were kids. Jack just devotees his wife and needs to get a way for a little. So jack goes to stay with Hux at his cabin and he’ll fix it up. Things eventually happen and heat up buy Jack has a hard time admitting his love for Hux and thinks it’s wrong. Overall I liked the book and they get their happy ending.

This was so sweet and scorching hot. The heartbreak was felt deeply but the love filled it in really perfectly.

I need to be honest and say that personally I didn't connect with the story.

The writing is good and the characters are written well. Hux and Jack are interesting, but I honestly wanted to smack Jack repeatedly for being a bit nice person. I also wanted to shake Hux and tell him that forgiveness is great, but sincere apologies are owed to him and to not let it go so easily.

I like the theme of the different relationships that take place around the cabin and lake. I can appreciate the problems that all the relationships dealt with.

This is a story about Jack learning about himself and letting his past go before he can accept his future.

It didn’t disappoint, I wish to know more of this two.
Nothing over complicated, and the fact that pieces just fell one by one leading to the end not too fast not too slow. It was a read for sure.

An emotional roller coaster of a story, happy, sad, almost suicidal, then finally bliss. Definitely not a simple angst free love story, but neither is real life. It’s nice that nearly everyone got what they wanted eventually, the only thing missing was a wedding, or at the very least, a proposal🙂

This book was well written with good rounded characters. My only criticism would be that the angst did get a little annoying towards the end although this did not deter me from the rewarding HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this book 😊

Cousins, taboo read but not? I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this but I did. It was emotional, heartbreaking and heart-warming all in one book.

I had tears at some parts and I giggled at others.

This was a well written book.
