The Pool Boy (Nashville Neighborhood Book 2) Kindle Edition
His male boss.
Why, hello, midlife crisis. I’m starting over, but this time I’m doing it right. Or at least I’m doing what I want.
Taking the day off from work to hang out poolside? Yup. Do I leave the swimsuit in my house? Sure.
Does my very hot, twenty-something pool boy happen to catch me naked? Oh, yeah, he does. And he likes what he sees… a lot.
My best friend keeps telling me to have a fling and get back out there. But I’m not so sure she meant for me to do it with her son.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2023Because your pool boy will take GOOD care of you… age ain’t nothing but a number after all💁🏻♀️ 😉
It’s Erika’s (42) birthday and she’s celebrating with her hubby Clark when he gets a work phone call he has to take. Bummed out that another “romantic” night gets ruined after he leaves, Erika decides to go home and change into the smexy lingerie she bought for a special occasion, and she’s gonna surprise her hubby at work and make use of it.
Except when she gets there, SHE’S the one that gets surprised… because her hubby of 20 years has been cheating on her for the last year… with his boss…
What an amazing bday present 😐.
10 months later, her divorce is finalized and Erika’s home early from work on a hot day, so she does the only sensible thing a fit, new-🍈🍈woman does on said hot day- she lays out by the pool topless 😅.
She kind of forgets that it’s Tuesday and her best friend’s son Troy’s (24) there to clean the pool like he does every week 😅. Imagine their surprise when he sees just how comfortable she is around her pool…
Oops 😬.
Little does Erika know that Troy has been crushing on her for a while.
And, it’s been WAAAAY too long since she’s been with anyone…
And, Troy is more than ready to be that person to…
“Help” her out with that little problem 😉
It all becomes a little more complicated when Erika hears how talented he is (musically) and wants to represent him…
But, can people mix work with pleasure? 👀
What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—the 🔥. I’m not gonna lie… that’s EXACTLY why I picked this up 🤷🏻♀️. NS knows how to write 🔥. It starts off with them watching each other 👀, and when Troy realizes Erika is JUST as attracted to him as he is to her, well, his confidence and alphaness comes out, and… HOOOOOOLY HELLLLLL, it’s 🥵. By 30% ish, we see JUST how connected there are physically 💦. And jeeeezus, it’s 😅💦🥵🔥😉👀🤤😮💨. Emojis do these scenes no justice! 👏🏻
—the diiiiirty talk. This has DUAL diiirty talk, but, of course, my favorite is as when Troy used filthy words 💦. Oh LAWD. Troy. TROOOOOY! You ain’t got no business being so diiirty 🥵. You may be young, but that mouth and… well… d (lol) doesn’t know that 😅😮💨
—cereal eating 💦. Love me a man who has no qualms eating heartedly, even if it’s already creamy 😅
—the maturity in Troy. Although he’s not TOO young, he displayed a maturity men twice his age don’t possess. He’s practical yet still holds onto hope. I love seeing how quickly he absorbed information and how he assessed/read the room. He wasn’t naive or “too” young. It makes him the perfect complement to Erika 🤷🏻♀️
—reverse age gap for the win 👏🏻. We need more of these books 🤷🏻♀️
—the music aspect ❤️. The fact that Troy embodies the dreams Erika alway wished to pursue only added a depth ness to their connection. Yes, it could be misconstrued to be about the dreams Erika lost, but it’s way more than that
—how invested Troy is. There is NO other woman for him. In fact, he’s been wanting her for years 👀 (but she was married, so 😐). Erika is what inspired him to develop his talent ❤️. And he worships her in sooo many ways 🥹
—the taboo aspect 😈 duh 😉. Love me some dirty little secret books 😮💨
—how strong Erika gets after the divorce. She didn’t let it bring her down. She got even more fit, new 🍈🍈, and new confidence she didn’t have before 💁🏻♀️. Yaaaas Erika 👏🏻 get it girl 😮💨
—how he honors her when he performs at the end 🥹. I found this super cute and swoony, but I was still a little bit mad at him 🤣
—how quickly misunderstandings are cleared
—Erika standing up to Clark 👏🏻
What I wanted more of: SPOILERS
—a proper epilogue ☹️. The last chapter isn’t even labeled as epilogue, but it takes place 4 months later 😐. I wanted to see them way into the future ugh 😒. In this book, we get to see the MCs from book 1, but it doesn’t look like we’ll get to see Erika and Troy in the next book since it’s like an MFM book (or maybe they make an appearance?). Either way, I wanted to see more of their future years from now. Like… maybe Erika gets pregnant (😭 I know. But it can happen in her 40s 😭). With these large age gaps, I like knowing they have a promising future ❤️. Sigh. I’ll just pretend 🤣
—caving in quickly. When Troy messes up after he lies to Erika about where he was, she caves too quickly FOR ME lol. She makes him suffer, A LITTLE bit, but not enough 🤣. I like them to sweat bullets 💁🏻♀️😈. I DID appreciate having doubts cleared up quickly, but I like being mad 🤣 so that the MMC suffers 😅
—the Clark stuff. While I appreciated Erika trying to be mature by feeling bad that his cheating relationship ended, I didn’t🤣. Finding out why he kept calling her felt a little anticlimactic because the chapter ended quickly, but I loved that Erika didn’t bend over and say “aww okay. All’s better” lol
Overall, I really enjoyed it ❤️
- Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2020“She was older—not to mention married—and my mom’s best friend. Pursuing her would be stupid. Then again, I wasn’t the smartest guy around, was I?”
The Pool Boy is a short interconnected standalone that features the forbidden/taboo age-gap romance between Erika Graham & Troy Osbourne. Erika is newly divorced, having discovered her longtime husband cheating on her with his male boss. She’s 42, in the best shape of her life with the sex drive to match, and has absolutely no idea how to get back out there. That’s until her pool guy catches her sunbathing topless, setting off a chain of events that are filled with lust & fantasies come true. Who knew the one guy that would bring her back to life would also be nearly half her age? Did I mention he’s also her best friend’s son? She knows she shouldn’t....yet nothing can stop these two now.
“You’re hot. Us together? We’d be off the charts. And don’t act like you’re not interested.” My dirty mouth hadn’t shocked her before—in fact, she’d responded to it. I smirked as I went in for the kill. “Shh, you’re looking at me right now like you want me to bend you over this table.”
One of my fave series ever (Filthy Rich Americans) is by Nikki, so when I heard about this (& The Doctor) I knew they were likely very different stories but still going to be smoking hot. I mean for a woman (like me) in her mid to late 30s, this book was like a fantasy come true. What older woman wouldn’t want to be wanted & pursued by a hot younger guy? I was invested in Erika’s story in a matter of minutes, feeling a camaraderie with her and really rooting for her after the way her marriage ends......
“Clark and I shared a bed most nights, but he hadn’t shared himself with me in ages.”
This book is red hot steam from almost the very start to the very end....I forgot how phenomenal Nikki is at writing smut. But I didn’t believe in their love/connection and although it was absolutely unputdownable, I felt it was lacking the necessary meat to make it more than a solid 3 stars......
“Maybe you don’t believe me, but you don’t have to. I can believe in you enough for both of us.”
Book Facts:
Told in: Dual POV, all present day.
Type? The second installment in the Nashville Neighborhood series, a group of interconnected stand-alones that feature characters within the same neighborhood with their own separate stories. Can be read without reading any others.
Triggers: N/A
Ends in: HFN-ending for couple.
The Main Players:
Troy: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“The way he looked at me was amazing. And sort of terrifying because he gazed at me with reverence. He’d put me up on an unwarranted pedestal and it was much too high.”
Erika: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
“She was f-ing gorgeous. Shh, she was going to ruin other women for me. Maybe that was a stupid thought. I was kind of convinced she already had.”
What I liked:
❤️ Something that can’t be denied is Nikki’s phenomenal gift at writing some truly hot smut. This book is no exception. Its been a good while since I’ve read a book where pretty much every scene is this yummy.....
“What dirty, nasty things do I like?” He didn’t miss a beat. “Oh, all sorts of stuff.” He grinned wickedly. “You’ve got a filthy f-ing mind.” I swallowed thickly. “I do.” “So,” his teeth grazed against the side of my neck, “tell me how you want it.”
.....I have it on my re-read list JUST because of how hot & bothered it got me.
❤️ This book is on the shorter side which had both positive & negative consequences. The positive being that it was to the point, no unnecessary filler or dragged out plots. When these two decided to go full steam ahead, they did it.....
“Fk,” I whispered. “Yes,” she answered, her voice wavering. “We should do that.”
.....it kinda shocked me at first bc I’m used to the slower build ups, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t appreciate characters knowing exactly what they wanted & going for it.
❤️ Another positive due to the length of this book is the fact I was able to finish this in one sitting. It had no real “boring” parts, so my interest was kept from the first page until the very last word.
What I didn’t:
🖤This is where the negatives come in for the short length of this book.....I felt absolutely NO love or emotional connection between these two, only insanely hot physical attraction & sexual chemistry. That would’ve been okay with me, I don’t need “love” to see an ending as happy or positive, but I do need to see or believe in it if the words “I love you” are spoken. This book failed in that aspect, miserably.
🖤I get that he’s like 20 years younger than she is, honestly that’s one big reason I found this book so sexy. I’m all good with her dominating or bossing him around in the bedroom, when it feels realistic (like in this book) it works & is fun to read. What I do have an issue with is how I felt she treated him like a kid in everyday situations. I hated how she acted like just because she was older that it meant she was the all-knowing, that she knew better than him. The ONLY good thing that came out of it is when he took a stand.....
“Is that what I am to you?” I gripped her hair at the base of her scalp and tugged hard enough to get her attention. “Just some kid? Because you let me do some very adult things to you.”
.....now that was hot af, still doesn’t mean I liked her for it though.
🖤I didn’t connect with any of the characters. Well, I did connect with Erika in the first chapter, but after that was over I didn’t feel that same camaraderie I had going into the book. Maybe it was the page count, it’s possible I just didn’t have enough time to connect like I normally do. Whatever the reason, I found myself not really caring what happened.
The Verdict:
Overall this isn’t my fave book from Nikki but it’s definitely not one to pass up on either. It may not have been the emotionally deep “love conquers all” type book I secretly wanted, but it was a fun little fantasy (of mine) book that was explosive on the sexy steam scale. If you are looking for a dirty but yummy smutty read that doesn’t require any real emotional investment, this book is the perfect escape from reality for a little bit.
“Maybe you could only reach a certain level of happiness for yourself, but . . . happiness for someone else? That was limitless. That was joy.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing age gap switch-up
Finally a steamy romance novel that a) features an older woman, and b) doesn’t make her biological clock one of the central points of tension.
The connection between the two main characters was more emotional than I would have thought, while still managing to be hot as heck!!
My only very small gripe was with the fact that early on in the book the main female character gets breast enlargement surgery as a way of reclaiming her desirability and self-confidence following a difficult break-up. While I know women should feel empowered to do what makes them feel good, a part of me would have appreciated seeing her get her groove back without the need for artificial augmentation. But that’s just a personal preference and me nit-picking. It certainly didn’t detract from how much I enjoyed the book!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars – Be reckless, embrace love!
Please bear with me as I go off on a slight tangent before getting to the main event.
I can feel some of you rolling your eyes already so no offence will be taken if you want to bug out early rather than read my lead up *shrugs*.
For those departing early you just need to know two things:
1. This story is amazing.
and
2. You should definitely read it.
Okay, is there anyone left? Okay good, thanks for staying with me *blushes*.
I feel like I have waited a looong time for this book, lol. Tangent alert! I’m not a big fan of New Year celebrations so back on New Year’s Eve 2018 I decided to treat myself to a cheeky wee download of The Doctor. All I can say is my New Year definitely went off with a bang *winks*.
And between thee and me, I still have the book trailer on my phone. Shh, that’s our secret! Pinky promise?
So, you could say I was a fan of the good doctor. Paging Dr. Lowe...
Well, (getting to the main event just in case you want to know!) some things are just worth the wait. You know that feeling you get (steady!) when you read a fantabulous story and someone asks what you think of it, but your brain decides to go on a hiatus because how can mere words even do it justice? Yeah, The Pool Boy was – All. Of. That.
Let me tell you, the title of this story doesn’t even scratch the surface of the treasures within. As I’ve said before, I’m a sucker for age-gap romance and when it’s an older woman – I am G-O-N-E! I’m not embarrassed to admit I had my pom-poms out for Erika because I certainly wouldn’t kick Troy out of my bed for eating biscuits. No, sir! *shakes head*
Now, don’t get me wrong, are there sexy times in the book? *snorts* With bells on (hot flash!), but they mean something. It’s about connection, exploration and those *whispers* pesky things called feelings.
I know I’m being a Cryptic Wonder, but just trust me, Erika and Troy need to tell you their story their way and that does not include Laura putting her size sevens in it!
To think Erika and I are the same age. Alas, there are no hot pool boys to be had in Scotland – more’s the pity. If there were, I’d probably frighten the life out of them *giggles*.
And on that note, I think I better sign off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spicy reverse age gap
Spicy reverse age gap. I adored Erika and Troy's story! The gut wrenching poor self confidence that Erika had after her divorce and how Troy helped her get over it. Loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Younger man/older woman sexy romance
This book was so sexy! What happens when your 24 year old pool boy who's your best friend's son catches you bathing topless? And you are a 42 year old horny divorcee who is extremely attracted to that pool boy? A whole lot of Naughty things lol
