About the author

Growing up in a small town, in the middle of England, with not a lot really happening, was the perfect place for an imagination to flourish. Indeed, having gone to the same secondary school as noted filmmakers Ken Loach and Gareth Edwards, it almost seemed inevitable that Ben Bruce would end up telling stories sooner, rather than later.
Ben spent the last fifteen years working behind the scenes in TV as he sought out a career as a screenwriter. When one script was rejected, he was unable to let it go, so The Regulators went from the screen to the page. Now a successful trilogy with future entries planned in 2025, Ben also has two new series launching soon, one in summer 2024.
A member of the Crime Writers' Association, Ben splits his time between the day job, writing, hosting the Criminally Inspired podcast for the UKCBC, coaching two flag football teams (and playing in one) and bringing up a young family. He does not understand the concept of downtime.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2019This book introduces us to an underground organization operating in England, The Regulators. They work to bring justice to those who act as if they are above the law and not subject to it. The book sees an unlikely partnership between a police woman, the Regulators organization, internet hackers and criminal masterminds working to stop a terrorist plot. Action and plot twists kept my attention through the whole book. This could be the start to a good series as the book, Shadow of Malice is already available.

A very awesome book cover, & proper great font & writing style. A very well written thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling read
Really enjoyed reading this and found the subject matter compelling. How would any of us react to punishing someone for an act that you know they would not be brought to justice for. The interaction between all the characters kept me interested and wanting to know more. Looking forward to reading the follow up books, highly recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
A vision of what we have all wanted to do. Walk around the bullshit and the rules and punish those who deserve it. Yes it is dangerous and yes it has been misused, but if it is based in humanity then it will preserve a better world than the shit we find ourselves in where justice is hobbled by political correctness and subservience to minority's causes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Promising Start For The First Book In This Series
This is the first book in a new series that shows potential. It is quick paced throughout. It could have done, with a bit more, on letting the reader know what the characters do when they are not working.
Thea Watts a rising star within the National Crime Agency. Is disappointed when informed, that all progress must stop on building a case against Reuben Arrowsmith.
Arrowsmith, has risen to the top of his South London manor. A man who is feared. But why has this instruction to stop the prosecution against him been made official?
Corruption from certain people in positions of power in the Palace of Westminster? If so who and why?
Latest intelligence is that an experienced assassin has arrived in London, via North Africa. Why is he here and what are his plans? This man is believed to be staying in a safe house, that Arrowsmith has provided for one of his high class prostitutes.
Outside of government, or any other organisation linked to the British establishment. Is a select group of individuals whose mission is to stop any person or a collective unit threaten the British way of life. This selected band of people come from a variety of backgrounds like ex military, former police and computing. This elite outfit is known as the Regulators.
Others maybe taking no interest. But, the Regulators are very interested in Reuben Arrowsmith. They are more interested in his friend.
A dynamic duo within the Regulators are ex Royal Marines Commando Jack Quinn and former police officer Adam Morgan. Between both of these men, there is over twenty years service with the Regulators.
With this latest development. Is there a possibility that Quinn and Morgan could work alongside the disillusioned NCA officer Thea Watts, to solve this one?

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story but...
This book has an engaging and fast paced storyline, based on a really good premise, and I'd like to read a sequel. Sadly, the whole book is liberally peppered with spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes. Whoever proof read this before publishing should be sacked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping from page one.
Absolutely loved this book. From the first page to the last, there is no pause in the action.
The characters are all well introduced, the story moves at pace and every chapter leaves you wanting to read the next one.
To consider that The Regulators is the debut work of this author, just makes me look forward to what more is to come.
The style, the story and the characters are all written in a way you’d expect from a seasoned ‘crime’ writer.
Very very impressed.
