The Sinful King: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Sexy Royals Book 1) Kindle Edition
5 years ago, I attended a mascarade party and lost my virginity to the man who would one day become king...
If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. Every summer he arrived with his security detail and friends in tow and rented out a row of cottages near the water.
Cottages that belonged to my family.
Each of those summers, my parents sent me away – to summer camp and later, boarding school. Anything to keep me away from the royals and their partying.
I hadn’t been home in years, but when I finally come back for the summer, I see that not much has changed.
Like all the summers I’d been gone, Prince Elias is back, but this time with an incognito security detail and no friends.
This time, there is no partying, no noise, and no crowds.
No reason at all to even think he was there.
I’m given strict orders not to talk to him, not to even look in his direction, but he makes this an impossible task.
I may be doing everything in my power to stay away from him, but there is no one in the world who can say no to the future King of France.

About the Author
Claire doesn’t like to talk about herself. Because of this, she asked a friend of hers to write her bio. This is what she got:
Claire is caring, smart, witty, and funny as heck. Despite being a New York Times Best Selling Author of a popular contemporary romance series, Claire doesn’t read many romance novels. However, when she sits down to write, those are the ones that pour from her fingers. Much to her displeasure, we like to say she’s a romantic at heart.
She is a breast cancer survivor who lives in Miami with her good looking husband, two adorable boys, three bulldogs, and two stray cats that she refuses to admit are hers (even though they live on her porch and she continues to feed them). When she’s not writing, she’s always lost in a book (the more suspenseful, the better).

“No.”⠀

So, anyone who knows me or reads my reviews knows I’m a ridiculously ginormous fan of Claire Contreras and her writing. That being said, this book started off a teeeny bit slower than usual and I thought HA! I finally found a Claire Contreras book that will be good, but maybe not my favorite! WRONG! So, so, sooo very wrong! 🤦🏼♀️ Public Apology - @clairecontreras I’m sorry I EVER doubted you! Pink promise, scouts honor, bible...it’ll never happen again!!!😘⠀
⠀
With all that aside...this book was EVERYTHING! Prince Elias was the ultimate, swoon-worthy, fiercely protective, literal prince of a man! His willingness to throw caution and tradition to the wind in the name of love was freaking perfection!⠀
⠀
Adeline was a great female lead. She had her share of things to deal with in life yet she was no doormat. She spoke her mind and didn’t go easy on Elias, prince or no prince! In return, I think it only added to why they loved and respected each other so much!⠀
⠀
Royal romances are a favorite of mine, but a good one is crazy hard to come by! The whole “fairytale” aspect can get so muddled and cheesy, when you find a good one you’ve gotta enjoy it while you can. This is not just good, it’s amazing!

I absolutely had no idea going in to this what to except the blurb and the title had hints. I feel like most royal themed stories have this dreamy feel. I really like that it was straight forward a past and then we get down to when they meet again. Adeline and Prince Elias definitely had an interesting first encounter, memorable even. As most royals do thry have duty and all that. Ellias has his share of reputation too. Meeting again they didn't quite see eye to eye. While it's rare one would be next door neighbors to royalty, Adeline can hold her own. She's a successful part planner her family isn't in the aame league but has their own thing.
What I find most intriguing is that Adeline's father isn't a fan of the monarchy. Elias as much of his duty and responsibilities isn't as well he has plans when he becomes king. This had a very forbidden affair with Elias and Adeline. It ramped up the angst. I truly felt their connection and it was sad watching thrm go through all that. But there was also swoony and steamy moments. You wonder through all that how will they make it work things were so against them. Also because Elias is soon to be king. Adeline's friends were supportive but also realists I'd say.
The Sinful King turned out to be thoughtful and realistic in the challenges they face. I appreciated the dialogue too between Adeline and Elias. She made good points to think of. I like the whole we aren't who are parents are aspect. It wasn't easy how they got to together but I rooted for them. It's good too breaks in tradition and it got lighter as it went on. Claire Contreras has a good royal storyline with her own twist and flavor to it. It was pretty easy to read, it had angst, heart ache, swoon and steamy.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2024Read it in 1 day. Things progressed at a believable pace, thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t feel like this was a traditional enemies to lovers story though. More like they had some confusion between them that was pretty quickly resolved. Perfect amount of spice in my opinion with a good plot and a lot of likable characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2023This book was pretty good. The set up was a tiny bit werid but good. The second half/ towards the end was a little weird as it seem to be a little bit of filler and like it could have ended sooner. But I loved it. I wouldn’t call this enemies to lovers at all. If so at like the very lowest level. Like they weren’t enemies at all like idk why it is labeled as so. Some things were defended confusing and didn’t make sense. Like there were some continuity issues. But the book was good. It wasn’t great for 4 or 5 stars but it was close. There were some plot points that were dumb and held it back from being great. But the couple was cute and I absolutely loved the ending. I’m not sure if I will read the others but maybe. Would love to read another royals plot with a king tho. I would recommend. Again so close to a 4. 3.5/5
- Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2020The Sinful King has been on my TBR for what seems like forever. I’ve been meaning to read it since it first released, but life happens and I kept pushing it aside. I actually read the novella first, which is Pillar’s story and I wanted to finally read the stories of her brothers, Elias and Aramis.
In The Sinful King, we have Elias’ story, the future king, his path is set. And one night with Adeline changes all of that. A woman he can’t really have or have a future with. But there’s something more between them, it’s undeniable, so how will they make it work?
From the royal romances that I’ve read, I’ve generally loved every single one of them. But this one really gives it all on the emotions. I was not expecting that at all and it might be one of the most emotional books I’ve read by Claire, well maybe after the Hearts series.
EVERYTHING between Maribella and Elias was there, the connection was so strong, but how would they get their happily ever after?! Gosh, it drove me nuts that they were always so close, but just not able to get what they both wanted. Elias is bound to his country, tradition and responsibilities. I loved that Adeline constantly challenged him, she knew the stakes, but she still fell so deeply for him. Not matter what anyone told her.
Gahhhh, I loved this story so much and now I’m going to re-read with the audiobook! I can’t wait until we get Aramis’ story.

Etwas zu kurz. Man hätte es etwas ausbauen können, aber es war gute Unterhaltung und herzerwärmend. Ich kann es nur empfehlen. Es hat Spaß gemacht.
