Awesome new series!
5 out of 5 stars
Awesome new series!
had found Michelle Madow's books by accident and fell in love with the Elemental Series. So when offered an opportunity to read her newest series and write a review I jumped on it. I wasn't sure how it would work out as vampires have been done in every way. I was WRONG! I loved the book and couldn't put it down. Such a great new series and not only does she have vampires but she added the supernatural element of witches, wolves and a genie. Annika is a blood slave destined to a life of servitude to the vampires after they killed her family and kidnapped her. Jacen is a vampire prince turned against his will. He meets and feels a connection with Annika and wants to protect her. Unable to protect her from the witch that wants him for herself, Jacen must play the politics held by his queen while Annika is on her own journey to take revenge against the entire kingdom of vampires.

This was a great introduction into the series. I enjoyed getting the story from multiple characters POV. I felt like so much development was given in a perfect amount of time. It didn't feel rushed or dragged out. I enjoyed how well the kingdom and surrounding land was described. I really got a sense of the place and people.

    Mike and Tanya...

I am looking forward to diving into the next book. This one ended on a good cliffy and its peeked my interest.

Definitely give this book a chance. There is intrigue and romance, and a great deal of depth as well. Annika is well grounded in who she is. Even in the beginning when she comes to the realization of being the person left standing in her family. That sad resilience she has makes her a great lead character. She pulls you in with her strength of character. Without being cocky, conceited, or whiny about her situation. Jacen is complex. I'm still deciding about him. I'm hoping for the best. He has some reconciliation to do in my opinion.

I think we've all found we at least have a bit more free time then we normally would (or like me, you're swimming in free time) so obviously I was going to seize this very long moment and unapologetically throw myself into a book (or a series as the case might be). I discovered Michelle Madow's Vampire Wish Series and I seriously can't get enough.
She seamlessly weaves all your favorite parts of more widely known fantasy books and gives the reader a round trip literary excursion you can't help but get sucked into and have no desire to leave.
Having read twilight and other vampire novels I kinda expected for this to be maybe a palatable adaptation of the Twilight series or the like, which would've been perfect given the state the world is in.
I got so much more than I bargained for.
There are some similarities to Twilight but it's as if the author knows your taste personally and plucks the elements that made you fall in love with the books along with other literary allusions to deliver a refreshingly fresh book series that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
There is absolutely nothing fanfiction about this series which was also something I was leery about it.
You get to see all the major characters' point of view which, given the way this author executes this style of narration is completely fresh and addicting.
How more people aren't aware of and enjoying this series is beyond me.
It's the perfect Corona virus distraction.
Like I said there are some similarities between this series and Twilight but only in the way that it is unavoidable.
The worlds she has created are beautiful, the characters aren't stale reimagined caricatures of characters we've already met in this genre.
And what a great price for these gems! All 5 books are easily affordable.
If like me you are searching for a reprieve from the events of the world as late this is the series for you.

While I already love Jacen and Annika’s relationship, this book reads too much like a shade of vampire.

Right down to the Vale. The sanctuary. The witch protecting the vale. Who also secretly loves the prince. Broody vampire prince who was turned against his will. Human girl catches his interest and he refuses to turn her.

I love Michelle as an author. I really want to continue this series, but if it keeps reading like a plagiarized story, I won’t be able to.

First of all, its an easy reading style. You get drawn into the characters and their world quickly and it makes you want to know more. Annika is relatable and the strong female character we all like to see. Jacen is less relatable but I'm interested to see if his character continues to develop in the next book.
The storyline is interesting enough to continue to the next book. I definitely want to see if Annika gets her wish.

Annika is a human who watches as vampires kill her family, but they keep her alive to become a blood slave to their kind. Whisked away to the Vale, a town for the blood slaves that sits below the vampire palace, Annika hates her new life... until she meets a handsome stranger on Christmas Eve. Jacen, a swimmer training for the Olympics, who has been newly turned into a Vampire Prince, feels a connection with Annika the first time he sees her. Can a human and a vampire have a future? What does the palace’s witch, Camila, want with a human blood slave?

A well written, clean YA romance that has enough details, action and plot twists to keep you (adults, too!) reading well past bed time! Michelle’s writing style allows me to envision the Vale and the Vampire Palace as if I was there in person. I found myself hating the vampires, cheering for Annika, and hopeful for a romance between her and Jacen. Vampires, witches, wolf-shifters and human blood slaves… what more could you ask for in a book! I loved this book and I'm not a YA anymore! This captivating, well written book ends with a cliffhanger, so you'll want to get Book 2, The Vampire Prince, immediately! I'm hooked on this series!

So I’m leaving my review after I finished the series. I really enjoyed all the characters in it, especially since there was so much intrigue, action and remarkable relationships in it. You never know what direction the Story is going to take and guessing is simply pointless. I definitely recommend this series to everyone.
