4.6 out of 5 stars 1,357 ratings

Unleash the Hidden Power of Your Awareness

Discover the original, instinctive, non-religious form of meditation that the modern world forgot.

In The Warrior’s Meditation, Richard L Haight—master teacher of four samurai arts—reveals the best-kept secret in self-mastery, cognitive development, and stress relief. This isn't meditation for monks in caves. It's for warriors in the world—people like you, navigating chaos, pressure, and uncertainty.

Imagine walking through your day with calm, clear awareness. Your mind sharp. Your body relaxed. Your actions flowing effortlessly from presence.
Anxiety fades. Emotional control increases. Immune function strengthens.
Your brain physically transforms, building grey matter where focus, clarity, and compassion live.

This is the Warrior’s Meditation—a practical, embodied path to presence in motion.

To understand it, picture a lone Samurai surrounded by enemies.

  • A beginner's mind flits anxiously from threat to threat—tiring, chaotic, doomed.

  • An expert spreads awareness in all directions, but still plans and worries—hesitating, vulnerable.

  • The master?
His mind is still. His awareness is total. There is no plan, no fear.
Only right action—arising naturally, effortlessly, from deep presence.

Now imagine bringing that same depth of calm clarity into your life.

You don’t need hours a day on a cushion. You need a way to live—and act—from your center, no matter where you are or what’s happening around you.
The Warrior’s Meditation gives you that.

With this book, you’ll learn how to:

  • Access a form of meditation you can practice anytime, anywhere

  • Reduce emotional reactivity and anxiety while boosting creativity and memory

  • Increase self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and compassion

  • Bring calm and clarity into daily conversations, decisions, and challenges

Review

Hidden within these pages is a form of meditation that is nothing less than revolutionary. If you've struggled with meditation or have found it difficult to deepen your practice, you'll find this book by Richard Haight to be a true gift. In it, you'll be carefully guided to not only discover the ultimate depth of meditation, but to be able to embody it in your everyday life, even with eyes wide-open, in the midst of work, relationships, and all of life's stressful moments. Do yourself a favor and read this book!―Ziad Masri, Bestselling Author of Reality Unveiled
Richard's meditation method is not only practical and easy to implement but also accompanied with profound insights on how the human mind and body work. Whether you're an experienced meditator or an aspiring one, you'll greatly benefit from his experience as an advanced meditator, martial arts experts, consciousness explorer and devoted teacher. Highly recommended read. ―
Thibaut Meurisse, Bestselling Author of Master Your Emotions
I thought I am quite knowledgeable on the subject of meditation but this book still surprised me with its approach and teachings. I was just at the right time to receive this knowledge. It is a meditation of warriors and the philosophy is helping me to see things in a new light. For this book, you don't need to hold any special spiritual beliefs which could be soothing as some books demand that. I think this book can especially help leaders, business owners, and those that need to stand strong against harsh conditions.―
Otakara Klettke, Bestselling Author of Hear Your Body Whisper

This book is a sure-fire must-read. Your mind is a fortress that must be guarded and through meditation, you are strengthening the walls of your fortress. I was intrigued by the idea of living life as a warrior by protecting yourself against attack from negative thoughts, time thieves, and the various other forms of distractions that can corrupt one's mind.
Scott Allan, Top 1000 Reviewer and Bestselling Author of Fail Big
I am someone who has read about 400 books, and this is one of the most enlightening books I have read. I have read other books on meditation, but this one was by far the most practical handbook for actually applying meditation in one's life. The steps are very helpful as a guide to get you started, but you can also transform what the book offers into your own unique meditative experience. All the tools are included to help you do this.―
I. C. Robledo, Author of 7 Thoughts to Live Your Life By
I believe that this is the best book for anyone who wants to get started making profound changes in their lives. It is a voyage within yourself, without the risk of losing touch with the outside world. It is a fun and apparently easy to do it yourself book. But like für Elise is a music-piece that is easy to play for beginners, it is also a challenge for advanced musicians. The richness can only be experienced by practice.―
Rik Kamerik,Singer, Songwriter, Musician - reverbnation.com/ranasragas
Haight gets to the heart of meditative practice. This is an extremely practical book, very easy to follow. I also really enjoyed the context/background of the practice. It seems like a book that should have been written a long time ago.
Righteous Sister Furey, Amazon Reader

Many books on meditation had left me feeling somewhat inept, as though the meditative process was still a little out of reach for me.
The Warrior's Meditation I find very different: it's easy to read in its informal but highly informational and instructive tone. The book contains a variety of practices, each one taking the reader through a step by step process. Whether you are a seasoned meditator or a newcomer to mediation, this book is one to read and reread.

It’s a life-changing one. Definite recommendation.
Very pleased with this book. I am fairly new to meditation, although I’m confident this book would benefit new and advanced meditators. Haight provides multiple tools or types of meditation, and then combines them all together for a seven-step “Warrior’s Meditation,” which state can eventually be accessed in only an instant. After reading these instructions and explanations, I’m confident I’ll be able to reach instant meditative states with daily practice. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I will reference this book for years to come until I master the material. I should note it is also extremely well-organized and perfect for referencing.

“The Warrior’s Meditation” book by Richard L. Haight is impeccably unique with esthetic yet practical applications to guide people with knowledge on how to reach an integrative style between meditation and busy daily life. Therefore, meditation is not a separate action or inaction from the rest of one’s life. Intentionally directed awareness injected into the daily activities form the warriors’ meditation and assists in the observance of thoughts, perceptions and feelings to name a few. The warrior’s meditation is not just a technique, but by applying ancient Samurai warrior secrets and Richard’s own individual and unique insights about meditation, a seeker can reach a short path into a beautiful unfoldment of what the Eastern spiritual traditions call “becoming aware of the true nature of the Indweller.”
“The Warrior’s Meditation is not just an accumulation of awareness, but also a shedding, a dismantling of conditioned programming in its deconstruction. This does not happen in a fell swoop or domino effect, but in a more gradual and sometimes faster paced cascading rhythm. Imagine a fully arrayed kaleidoscope with all its multifaceted pieces: the small pieces disappear exponentially and the larger designs take their place in sight. Every time the kaleidoscope shifts, the more visible the larger designs and therefore, the more beauty is captivated by the seer.
What is being captivated? After the release, healing, change and transformation—the observer is so captivated. As a mirror image, there is a discovery that one’s own being is the living and most beauteous divine-human kaleidoscope. Mr. Haight guides meditation focusing on the senses, including the 6th sense, which is the spiritual “beyond the beyond” and he calls it “spherical awareness”, where there is an expansion to the unified field. Many spiritual traditions aim toward this expansion as it is an ebb and flow of light-energy, the soul. The shifting of the senses, like the shifting of the kaleidoscope offers a new sense of seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling and esthetic feeling of expanding awareness. The discoveries from the explorations lead to the daily sensorium of the unity between dualities. Richard’s surprising humor springs up when least expected, so it’s delightful as well as informative. He addresses some pitfalls and makes recommendations on how to avoid them. At every turn, there is refreshing and practical upliftment in this journey to one’s own self-discovery, which does not take a lifetime to attain, but meets with daily access and progress.
Actions and the senses are instruments in discovering who we are, which leads to “spherical awareness” for extending the senses outward and conversely, inward in a rhythm of ebb and flow like the ocean---or rippling out and then whirl pooling in the center. By this very method, people can reach that center within, which is the collapse of the intention, since we pay more attention to the material world, where balance is compromised. People then expand outward by keeping open their awareness levels and thus balancing the dance of receptivity and allowance. In unification of both inner and outer fields, we can then enjoy holistically in engaging with the inner & outer sensorium in a spirit of freedom, wisdom and unification. Just fifteen minutes in the morning until it is built into the human system which Mr. Haight declares that meditation is natural and while difficult to begin with, is interwoven into the system, and with practice, becomes paradoxically easy because of its natural ability. Yet, the effort we give to enhance our lives so we can live to the fullest is well worth the challenges or obstacles that may come in the way. You are bridging a new way for the integration of meditation to be realized into the moment to moment spheres of awareness with all activities. Flash meditations are used to retrieve the awareness elements if one finds themselves in the old patterns or conditions.

This book revolutionized how I think about meditation. I used to think it was something that needed ideal conditions to truly master (e.g., quiet room, sitting down), but now I see that this was a limited mindset as to the true capabilities that meditation offers us. The fact that meditation can be practiced in virtually any setting and time, including while reading, was an eye-opener for me.

I have read other books on meditation, but this one was by far the most practical handbook for actually applying meditation in one’s life. The steps are very helpful as a guide to get you started, but you can also transform what the book offers into your own unique meditative experience. All the tools are included to help you do this.

I felt that Richard Haight was my personal trainer with his personable writing style – it was a highly enjoyable read. Also, there was much more depth as to discussing different forms of meditation that I had never heard of in other books or in online articles. I certainly did feel that I was learning “secret” techniques from an expert, and I was glad the author chose to reveal them.

I am someone who has read about 400 books, and this is one of the most enlightening books I have read. Many books will scratch at the surface of what the true problem is with many of us anxious, overworked, overstressed humans. For many of us, perhaps a root cause is simply that we exercise one type of being and awareness 99% of the time, and ignore another side to ourselves entirely. That other side is what this book will help with – feeling more in tuned with nature, more aware, more at ease and relaxed, ready to handle anything without the stress. Our minds need a break from the rigid, high-stressed and focused states that we tend to be in all day – meditation is one path to accomplish this.

There usually is not one panacea to living a good life, and so I appreciated that the author touched on some other aspects of living a good life, such as healthy eating and paying attention to our emotional states. This is quite a holistic book to helping promote your wellbeing and to overcome the problems of your life.

I suggest reading “The Warrior’s Meditation” twice and taking some notes on the book to gain the biggest benefits. On a first reading, you may not fully grasp the power of this book.

I feel truly blessed that a good friend of mine recommended this book to me. Read this book, be blessed, and bless someone else with it.

To put it simply and elegantly, the TEM is merely a reminder that the most profound impact on our consciousness comes from silence. This book is a quick and simple read that should be carried by everyone to help them remember to re-engage with their bodies. The simplest method for maintaining equilibrium that we can all use in our daily lives. The key to pleasure is mindfulness. The task we do is more enjoyable when we are aware of it. To attain complete success and tranquility, we should apply this awareness to all aspects of our lives, including our daily routines and eating habits. The several types of meditation, such as mindfulness meditation, seated meditation, or zazen, will be recognized after reading this book. However, they carry a single, straightforward note of clarity and coherency at the heart of all meditations.
