The Will to Serve (The Playgrounds Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 16 ratings

FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR P. STORMCROW

Book two in The Playgrounds series

When her contract with her Dom is about to expire and her past comes knocking, Luna must make the right moves or risk losing her heart and her soul.

On the surface, Luna Weir leads a perfectly normal life, but behind closed doors, she surrenders control to someone else—Jacob Dakota, who is sexy, charming and entirely dominant. The problem is that they only agreed to this power dynamic for a limited time.

Jacob has never taken on training a submissive for more than three years at a time. However, as their end date draws near, he finds himself more reluctant to let go of Luna than he'd expected. To make matters worse, Luna's past returns in the form of the charismatic Bryan Walsh, her original Dom, who offers her another choice—to become his after her contract with Jacob expires. But there are secrets between the two of them that not even she can explain.

With the future of their relationship unknown and a suspicious Dom waiting in the shadows, Luna's will to submit and Jacob's ability to lead are both tested like never before. Now they must decide if what they feel for each other is strong enough to hold them together beyond their contractual terms—for the measure of a Dominant is how willing their submissive is to serve.

About the Author

P. Stormcrow has always been an avid reader across the fantasy and sci fi genres but early on, found herself always looking for the love story in each book. Coming to terms with her love for love later in life, she now writes steamy romances that examine social norms and challenge conventional tropes of the genre, usually on her phone. And yes, she has walked into walls and poles doing so. When she's not reading or writing (or even when she is), she enjoys copious amounts of tea, way too much sugary treats, one too many sci fi / fantasy / paranormal TV shows (team Dean all the way) and every otome game she can possibly find.

P. Stormcrow grew up with a love for love and somehow that turned into authoring contemporary and paranormal BDSM romances. Fierce women and sensitive men fill her stories while she examines social norms and challenges conventional tropes of the genre through her craft. She is the recipient of the 2021 inaugural Good Sex Awards in the category of Erotic Touch. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, she enjoys writing about both cultures.

In addition to being an author, she is also a techie, a graphic designer, a mother, a lover, a fighter and a little bit of everything else in between. When she's not typing away madly on her phone and running into poles, she enjoys copious amounts of tea, way too many sugary treats and as many sci-fi / fantasy / paranormal TV shows as she can sneak in time to watch.

I always love Pixie's books. They always emphasize consent and communication. Such sweet romance, but always a lot of excitement too!

A very good BDSM story with heartfelt emotion and engaging characters. It was a more emotional story than I expected. It was also a story that made you realize the depth of a submissive’s desire to submit and serve. The drama seemed to be perfectly written for the story as the ex enters the storyline and tries to woo her away from what she feels is the perfect Dom for her. Great story.

I requested a copy of this book so I could provide an honest review.

I had previously read a small portion of The Will To Serve ever so briefly back when it was on Wattpad, so it's my first time reading it entirely since then. And though things improved in this story a tad bit, my official rating remains a 3.5/5.

In my opinion, some foreshadowing on Bryan should've been done back in Book One. It would make all the messy drama more spicy or intriguing, and it should've also focused more on Luna and Jacob's background. Unless I've overlooked it, I thought for many parts Jacob was a chef, and randomly placing him into an office made no sense to me, especially since said office gave no clue as to what he does for a living.

Try as I may, I couldn't connect with Luna. I mean, she started out okay in book one, but she just dropped points for me in book two. I just wasn't impressed by the entanglement she got herself mixed up in, nor did I empathize with her. I mean, come on girl! And then that drama at the club... I saw that coming from a mile away.

With that being said, the slight improvements in Jacob was welcoming in terms of the dirty talk and seriousness of being a dominant dom. If that makes sense. Playtime and the scenes also improved compared to my feelings about it in book one.

Overall, I recommend the The Will To Serve to anyone who enjoys fluffy romance with a dash of extra sugar for sweetness, but it wasn't to my standard. That's not on the author but myself as a demanding reader with specific tastes.

This was my first book by this author and I have to say it impressed me. The relationship between both characters was already relatively set so the foundation was already there but the troubles they went through on this book made it all more interesting and better with the trust that was already built. I'd probably read the story about how they met, though. This is a steamy romance with BDSM elements so if that's not your thing, please don't read. It also has some things that might be triggering to some people, so read with caution.

Luna and Jacob's contract is coming to an end. Neither of them want it to end but the most time he has trained a sub has been 3 years, which they will get to in a few weeks. When a shady Dom from her past appears in her life again, her reaction to him makes both Jacob and her rethink things. Can they find a way to work through what happened without losing each other? Will he want to renew his contract with her once it's over? Is it worth the risk?

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This is a new author for me and I did not read the first book but I still managed to enjoy this book. The book starts near the end of Luna and Jacob's 3 year contract and I loved how steamy and tastefully the BDSM scenes are done. I loved that Luna kept her own independence, friends and job. This was a touching and intense story between Luna and Jacob grip my attention and hold it until the end. Though there are some very steamy BDSM in the book (fan yourself hot) what impacts and holds the reader's attention is the raw and gritty emotions between the couple and their growing attraction to each other. When Bryan her abusive and slimy ex DOM shows up things get really interesting. Great Read the exchange of power was excellently done and well balanced, making me look forward to reading more by this author.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Well well well... Give me a second because I need to calm down after reading this.

It's been a while since my last erotic romance book so I was a bit surprised to say I enjoyed this story the way I did. It was steamy and hot but it still showcased the emotional struggles of our MC's since they were both on a new territory when it came to love.

Once again I've picked up a new to me author that I'll be on the look out in the future because this was a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy, Steamy and a wonderful follow up

Luna and Jacob’s story continues in this book and it’s just as good as the first in the series. While the story does not pick up where the first book finished it starts in the perfect place to follow their relationships and the trials and tribulations that come alongside it.
The book is addictive and once I started reading it I didn’t want to put it down. There are some really tense and unpredictable moments that will have readers on the edge of their seats.
The characters are compelling and there are some wonderful supporting characters Lexi is great and I want to see Luna double date with Ted.
I’m already excited to know what comes next in this series.
