4.5 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

Self-help guru George Pinknell picked a bad time to be buried: his work was just about to become useful. Meanwhile, graduate student Kendra Lloyd faces her own uphill climb as she tries to escape school with her sanity intact. Yet when the resurrected Pinknell drops into Kendra’s life, Kendra’s problems multiply. She must decide where her allegiances lie—whether with an increasingly distant husband, an oppressive advisor, an intriguing colleague, or with her mysterious new mentor. As Pinknell runs for his life and Kendra dismantles hers, both must scale the cliffs of the mind within the Memory Tower.

The Memory Tower is not just a good story but also a beautiful piece of prose. The language used is not often seen in popular writing today, and I very much appreciated the depth and detail in the authors voice. As a professional on a college campus the commentary on students and academia was personally relevant as well. The story moved along at a good pace and kept my interest, the ending still has me thinking. I was impressed that the suspense was engaging but did not lead me to knowing the outcome. Overall this is a great read, accessible but still challenging enough to keep the reader wanting to know more not just about the direction of the story but also about the concept and idea of a memory tower.
