The Flame Burns Brightly (Light In The Darkness Book 2) Kindle Edition
In the meantime Samuel fights a grim war in Persia with little hope of surviving, missing Joanna and in circumstances even worse than the Crimean War. He is desperate to get back home in one piece and particularly when he is suddenly given the responsibility of something he had never envisaged.
This story follows the adventures of Joanna and Samuel who in the first book fell in love in the midst of war. Now their wars are different but just as real.

About the author

From an early age I loved to write. Stories. In diaries. Studies on different subjects. Anything. Now I write for a living and still enjoy doing so, particularly as it takes me round the world and involves interesting research.
I also write Christian historical western romances under the name of Sylvia Damsell and Christian novels and Bible commentaries using the name of Sylvia Wheatley.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2016Samuel goes off to war in Persia. Joanna stays home in England. I like how the book alternated back and forth between their lives. I like all the main characters. Some of the events and dialogue are very witty.
What I don't like is the author's writing style which is sometime choppy and the editing. "Justin" and "Jasper" get mixed up and sometimes sentences don't end and thoughts gets jumbled within paragraphs.
However I had to read the book to celebrate Samuel and Joanna's quirky life together. You should too.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2016Love, loyalty, and courage shine through the characters in this sequel to The Lamp Burns Brightly. I loved how caring the main characters were and how steadfast and real their love was. The entire novel was so well written. The vulnerability and resiliency of the children in this novel touched my heart. The interactions between people were so true to life and all the historical details were so engaging but never overpowered the heart of the story. Highly recommended.
