Help turns into love
The List is an emotional story between two men, a college student and a homeless man, who fall in love through hardship and determination. Tom, the student, works parttime at a restaurant; Zane is a homeless man, who lives behind the dumpster that is placed in the alley behind the restaurant where Tom works. Tom helps Zane with food and clothing to keep him warm during the incoming storm. Then Zane disappears; Tom keeps looking around, searching for the man for whom he has developed feelings. The story ends on a happy note. This novella is an easy read, full of feels and side characters who build up the romance. I recommend this book. ❤️

I think this book picked me. I live near paradise and was there when the fire devastated everyone. I know first hand how people were and still are affected by this tragedy! This is a beautiful story with the HEA I want for everyone! The emotions and circumstances depicted are strong and deep. Zane is complex and his suffering is something that reaches your soul. No one really knows the story behind someone down on their luck. Tommy is exceptionally sympathetic. It's not a bad way to be. He shows real concern for a fellow human being and is compelled to help.😘 I highly recommend this heartfelt story of our human condition!!!🤔

A quick read, very sweet story about 2 young men meeting each other, one helping the other who's going through a hard time, and super amongst friends. I usually read a lot of dark romance/psychological thrillers so I kept expecting Zane to be Tommy's other personality, or for there to be some sort of big twist lol

Sweet but flawed story. Tommy is a rare breed, not many people would do what he did to help a stranger. Zane’s backstory on how he became homeless surprised me and I found it wasn’t very plausible. And when they’re sitting in Tommy’s kitchen during the power outage, how is it that Tommy could thell is was almost lunchtime by looking at the time on the microwave? And the thing that bothered me the most was Bruce constantly calling Tommy “kid”. And it was done a lot!

This is my first book by this Author. It will not be my last, there are many more stories by BL MAXWELL to read. This story touched me to my soul. I was so caught up I read it straight through. Tommy is a college student working at a bar and grill. Trying to keep himself together so he can earn his degree. Then he noticed the guy behind the dumpster. His instincts wouldn't let him not try to help somehow. Zane found a safe place behind the dumpster at the bar and grill. Life circumstances had run him over and weren't finished yet. This story is MAGNIFICENTLY written. This gives you the first hand look into what can happen by one wrong circumstance at the exact wrong time. All the characters in this story are amazing, well written and a joy to learn about. This book is beautiful, heartbreaking, hopeful and inspiring. It has my favorite, an AMAZING EPILOGUE. Soul touching, don't pass this one up. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!!!

I love how loving and caring Tommy is from the beginning of the story. His boss is also caring. Zane's story is so tragic as we find out what has happened. This is a sweet story. I also love the epilogue. I listened to the audio and it was well done.

If you are looking for a truly wonderfully written book, this is it! I was completely taken from the beginning to the last page and was so very sorry to see the book end. We meet Tommy, a nice quiet lonely college senior working his tail off in a restaurant and going to school. His boss is a really good guy and cares about Tommy a lot. Tommy see's a youngman hiding behind the dumpster in the back of the restaurant. He is cold, dirty and obliviously homeless. The story takes off from there. This is truly a well written heart pulling story of two young men finding themselves and the road that they must travel to get there! Once again BL Maxwell has written a powerful enlightening story and would we; as regular human beings take the steps that Tommy did to help Zane?
I know after reading this story, I am going to look at life differently. An avid reader in Rock Tavern, NY.

DNF at 39%. Some grammatical issues, ranging from pedantic to affecting understanding of the story; not exciting, fairly repetitive, style of prose is really not for me (either comma spliced run-ons or choppy sentences). Just doesn’t have urgency, have no connection or emotions with the characters, a lot of time is spend congratulating Tommy for helping Zane the unhoused. Life is too short to read meh books

Good bones for a story but too many holes in the plot. The last time Sacramento had significant snowfall was 1976, so the whole homeless in the snow was not believable. Tying the story to Caden and Rio to connect to Chloe was strange. Why not write the same story set somewhere where it might actually snow. And maybe the whole Paradise Camp Fire device was a real stretch.

This was a wonderful story for me during this festive season. A homeless man who lost all his hope gets a chance in life. I couldn't put the story down until i read the last sentence. Zane and Tommy will make you sigh with happy thoughts and they'll make you look at those who are homeless with compassion. Bravo, BL Maxwell.

Good, though perhaps slightly optimistic portrayal of homeless problems and just how easy it could be to wind up in these circumstances.
Fast read, with characters sketched out fairly well and linear plot.
