The Thieves of Winter Trilogy Kindle Edition
Three thieves...
Each hiding a secret...
United by a common goal.
But they never imagined it would lead to love.
Edmund, Jewel of Winter
Upon discovering the pretty innkeeper eavesdropping, Edmund decides to take matters into his own hands to ensure her silence. But when she steals the jewels he's hidden on her person, he demands she return them...or pay the price with her body.
Simon, At Winter's Demand
Simon is a man of few words and loyal to a fault. At Edmund's request, he remains behind at the inn to find the misplaced jewels. Only the innkeeper's sister, with her incessant chattering and sweet scent, distracts him from his mission.
Monty, Under Winter's Control
Guilt has encased Monty's soul since Lady Katherine disappeared from a ball during the summer. Under Edmund's direction, he leaves the inn to follow a lead. One that may help him find the woman he'd failed. But finding her is only the beginning, convincing her to return, well that may take drastic measures.

About the author

Kirsten Blacketer writes the stories she's dying to read. She likes mystery and intrigue, handsome heroes, sassy heroines, and a chance to break the rules. She lives for sexual tension and loves kissing scenes. There's no way she can write in just one era, so don't be surprised if you see her jumping from medieval Scotland to prohibition on the Mississippi River to late Victorian London then onto contemporary Brooklyn. She follows wherever the muse leads her.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2016Format: KindleIt’s a cold and stormy night. A group of three well-dressed men come into the Hart and Hare. They have come to this out-of-the-way village inn to receive information to help find the leader’s sister, whom they believe has been kidnapped. Things might have gone according to plan if Jess, the innkeeper, had not been caught listening at the door of the private dining room where the men ate. Edmund, the leader of what Jess believes to be a group of wealthy thieves, decides to hold her captive until they finish their business and are ready to return to London. At this point events take an unexpected turn (and not in the Thieves favor). What follows is a somewhat gritty, definitely witty trio of tales, each one about one of the partners in the venture and the feisty woman who attempts to thwart his plan, tries his patience, and wins his heart.
In The Jewel of Winter, we meet the Earl, The Crime Lord, and the Scotland Yard Detective who make up our group of thieves, Jess Watson (a widow and the innkeeper), and her sister Judith. The scene is set. Once she is caught listening to their conversation, Edmund, Earl of Winterbourne, decides to use her to hide the jewels he hopes to trade for the information about his sister’s whereabouts. Jess tries to outsmart him and steals the jewels and refuses to tell him where they are. He hauls her off to London to help him find where the Earl of Norwich acquired the jewels that belonged to his sister. He leaves Simon (the Crime Lord) at the inn to find the jewels and sends Monty north to follow a lead to his sister’s location. Their London mission doesn’t go as planned and as soon as Simon lets him know he has the jewels, Edmund sends Jess back home, even though there is an attraction. Will this be the end of their relationship? Will the thieves find the Earl’s sister? Keep reading to find the answer.
In At Winter’s Demand, Simon (known as the Lord of Devil’s Acre) is left with Jess’s sister Judith to locate the jewels Jess hid from him. These two bumped heads, literally, at least Judith bumps his, with a frying pan, twice. He eventually finds the jewels and loses them again (he thinks) on the way to London. When the train reaches London, someone else kidnaps Judith. Being the Lord of Devil’s Acre has it advantages. He is able to find and retrieve her. Edmund has gone back to the inn to let Jess know what has happened to Judith. On the train to join Edmund and Jess, the Madam from Devil’s Acre captures Simon. The scheme fails. What spoiled it? How will Madam be dealt with, and by whom? Is there hope for a happy ending for Judith and Simon? Keep reading to find out. Word has come that Monty has located Katherine (the Earl’s sister). The question is can he get her back to her brother.
In Under Winter's Control, Monty finds Katherine in a small village in Scotland. She is living alone and working in an inn. Katherine had not been kidnapped. She ran away. The third book is one of discoveries. Monty discovers why Katherine ran away and what happened to her jewels (and why). We discover that Monty has loved Katherine for as long as he has known her. He discovers that she has loved him almost as long. They do go back to London, where several interesting things happen. Edmund tells Katherine that he has accepted an offer for her hand (again, he never learns) from a villain wannabe in the person of the Laird we met in the inn in Scotland. He actually thinks he can get away with blackmailing the Thieves of Winter. It doesn’t work. It’s time for resolution. Will the siblings reconcile? Will love flourish for the Thieves of Winter and their feisty companions? You know there is only one way to find out.
I enjoyed this trilogy. The characters were interesting well developed. The heroes are an unusual group of associates. The heroines are tough enough to take on these three dangerous men. Three pieces of a puzzle blend together seamlessly to provide a solid and engaging plot.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2018Format: KindleAll 3 books get 5 stars from me! I had already read the first book but snagged this bundle so I can read the 2nd and 3rd books of the Winter series. Each one holds a mystery regarding the Hero and it takes the unsuspecting love of a woman to uncover his secrets.
I plan to post a review on each book so when this bundle disappears, the reviews will be there. I recommend this bundle highly!!
